@KrayolaProductions thats either a bad cable or your monitor has a bad response time. If the monitor has a response time of 8ms or lower then it will be the cable quality, is it VGA or HDMI?
@xHaViiKzHD If you are using HDMI cable, you can use it as an audio channel. Just go to Control panel -> Sound and then -> Manage audio devices, from there you can choose to use HDMI as a default audio channel. Another way is to use Audio-in channel from the back of your display, but then you need a right kind of connector to do it.
@DeanoBeano You need to open your graphic cards driver software for me its catalyst control center, and find there aspect ratio settings and set the aspect ratio to fill the whole screen. After you have done that you have to press apply and immediately restart your computer to make that setting permanent. I haven't got that problem anymore with my ATI card because the newest catalyst center automatically sets the best aspect ratio, you just need to update the software from ATIs support site.
Are you sure that everything is alright with your eyes?
My eyes hurt when I use Sharpness 6... Pictures... maybe... but for normal usage and for reading ANY text? NO WAY. (and there are plenty of pictures with text in it)
Are these meant to be general settings or specifically just for movies? I'm trying to get good general settings for the monitor (but with a focus on gaming).
@Archonhound I was looking for overall best settings for watching media. At the moment I have brightness at 99, contrast 86, sharpness at 6, saturation at 64 and Color Temp. all at 100. Less contrast? maybe, more saturation? maybe. Those two settings are dependable on what you like is the best.
@Laminaricflow Thanks. I'm new to tweaking the monitor, so I've been experimenting with it a little bit although I've noticed that once you start tweaking it becomes very hard to be completely satisfied.
@mp3huntertr I think it is 1.2 to 1.3, and supports audio trough HDMI. There isn't any picture quality difference between DVI-D and HDMI, it just gives some more features like audio trough HDMI and HDCP.
At the moment best settings seem to be that brightness is set to 100 for sharpness of details and saturation to 67 to make colours more realistic. Otherwise, I have the same old settings.
I think I have managed to get better settings now, 7.10 2010, by adjusting colour temp. to 100% and lowering brightness to 95% and increasing contrast to 80%, now it's less painful to lower the saturation if you will. Otherwise I have the old settings.
You can reduce backlight bleeding even more by setting brightness to 96 instead of 97. If you want to make colours more vibrant you can increase saturation to maximum of 74. Saturation makes the image very crispy and increses black/white contrast.
Hey dude, I have an Asus monitor as well bit I use it to play xbox. It seems that I have a blur/ shadowing around letters..,do you know why?

Use the Windows 7 calibration tool, it's really helpful and good for getting the settings right.
