When did Paul get into his moped accident? He tries very hard to cover his teeth, but you can see he’s got some kind of tooth injury when he does part his lips at the very beginning. That or he was eating black licorice.
Hi, I keep playing your videos I try to play them in order but a few of them have missing parts is there any reason for this? The NME poll concert #5 is missing I can't find it anywhere. Do the record companys allow you to keep these up as long as one part is missing? I love your channels and spen a lot of time on here it takes me way way back, to my early days!!!!

The Oscars, Grammy's could learn a lot from these awards. Like the recipients just accepting their awards with humility and not making speeches. The award and smile on the performer is enough.
I think the last comment was a bit over the top. I agree with the Beatles and Rolling Stones and definitely the late, great Dusty Springfield. But Jimmy Savile was not a favourite DJ of everyone. The Shadows were past their best in 1966. And the Seekers were flattered to be 'Best New Group'. Granted that Judith Durham had a great voice and a magnificent bust which must have won them the award. And no disrespect to Sounds Incorporated but they can hardly be called legends. Where's the Who
Lighten up, sixties1960s. At least these awards were voted by readers of NME, not like a lot of modern day awards chosen by unseen cliques. Just appreciate the fantastic lineup of all the artists that performed including The Who .
The Seekers, by virtue of sheer intelligence and both individual and collective talent, merit inclusion by any standard of measure--bust or otherwise.
What a line-up of award winners! The Beatles and the Rolling Stones - the two greatest bands of all time. The Shadows - the band that launched a million guitarists. Jimmy Savile - larger than life DJ. Only 2 females on the bill, but worth 100 of todays wannabees. Dusty Springfield - The greatest British female singer of all time and ultimate 'white soul queen'. Judith Durham - a beautiful voice and a spectacular bust! and Sounds Incorporated were pretty useful. Some legends here!
This must be the best concert line-up ever - The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Yardbirds, Cliff Richard and The Shadows, The Spencer Davis Group, Herman's Hermits, Roy Orbison, Small Faces, Dusty Springfield, The Seekers, The Walker Brothers, Dave Dee etc, Alan Price, Sounds Incorporated, Crispian St Peters, The Fortunes, and The Overlanders. Wow. Fancy seeing The Overlanders in concert - what a thrill that would have been. The others on the bill weren't bad either!
I think this was the 1st of May 1966, and was the Beatles only live appearance of 1966 in Britain and in fact their final appearance in Britain, now I think about it
Yeah, I'm looking for this performance since years (the rolling stones 68 show. I wanna hear how they play this song at the time. Ahh...all these "what ifs"...are driving me crzy
Thank you so much for your detailed information. I would really love to see that performance, I still hope that nyrainbow2 can some how get hold of it because I think (maybe wishfull?) she or he has some access to BBC archives.
Thanks for your response, but I'm a bit confused now. I've seen pictures of it in Roy Carr's book about the Stones, and Bill Wyman mentions in his autobiografi 'Stone Alone' I quote; "...a typical example was on the 12th of May after we had decided for an unanounced stage performance during the Poll-Winners Concert of the New Musical Express in the Empire Pool, London. Planned were Status Quo, Lulu. Love Affair...presenter Jimmy Savile promised the audience a suprise".
Bill Wyman mentions they played Jumpin' Jack Flash and Satisfaction, Bill again "NME boss and organiser of the concert Maurice Kinn told the audience that the Stones had received a lot of negative publicity (drugbusts of 67)...Roger Moore handed us the price for best R&B-band". Also in the lists of television appearences of the Stones it mentions 5-68 Southern NME Poll-Winners Concert (recorded 12-5-68) Wembley (Stones 'Live') and again 18-5-68 ITV Blackburn (rec.12-5-68) Wembley (Stones "Live')
Both the Beatles and The Stones refused to be filmed at the '66 show but the presentation was filmed. The '68 show with the Stones as special guests was filmed for Southern T.V and The Stones were shown on Tony Blackburn's show but i'm still waiting to see it. I'm not sure it still exists. Knowing the BBC they probably wiped it. The Stones played Jumpin Jack Flash and Satisfaction and it was Brian's last live performance apart from R N R Circus were it is hard to hear him. Hope this helps.
I looked up some info and it seemed that South TV has changed hands in 1982 into Southern Star Group. However I did send a message to the South TV archives asking them about this footage and if it still exists. If I'll get any reply I'll inform you.
The only one's ive seen are the 64 and 65 shows. 66 was filmed and broadcast but the beatles and stones both requested that they werent filmed so the cameras were turned off for their performances. The stones performance in 68 was also filmed but it has not turned up anywhere. This was Brian's' last live show with the band. They played Satisfaction and Jumpin' Jack Flash. Their are photos of the beatles and stones at the 66 and also the stones at the 68 show. I think the last NME show was 69.
@mokhotlong To my knowledge - although The Stones and The Beatles played NME 1966 - neither were filmed - due to a break down in negotiations with management.
I still want to know why I can't The Who"s performance (two songs).

Anyone know the set list for Beatles and Stones at NME '66?
I really would like to know if the Stones performed Satisfaction.
Thanks.

@ElectricStrider1 For The beatles it was: I Feel Fine, Paperback Writer, If I Needed Someone, Day Tripper & I'm Down.

As today is May 1, the 44th anniversary of this spectacular concert, I would like to
see some comments from anyone who actually was there.

Mick Jagger was HOT.
But I'll always stay loyal to the BEATLES. They were without a doubt the greatest group the worlds ever seen. <3

There's a hard cover biography of The Who at Barnes & Noble where I found a color photo of them from this all-star concert.

Thats an efficient award show. One celebrity dishing out awards one after another and no speeches. I wish they did it this way today.

Good question. I know why the Stones and the Beatles were'nt filmed, but have yet to find The Who performing two numbers from this incredible show.

As far as I know the tape with the performances of The Who and the Walker Brothers is missing I don't think even the BFI have a copy

Less of your sarcastic remarks about the Shadows and Judith Durham and her 'assets'. The Seekers outsold the
Beatles and the Stones 1965. You sound
like an embittered Who fan.

Well, it was '66,and he had already done tons of pot and LSD by then,so it wouldn't be surprising if he was.

It's a shame that they didn't play anything from Revolver, either here or any of their '66 tours.

I had forgotten how big Clint Walker was! I didn't realize that the western "Cheyenne" was so popular and well known in Britain at that time.
