Is there a huge difference using the 840 poweramp, as apposed tothe crate ss poweramp in the other video? I have a ss poweramp and I'm thinkin of getting an ENGL 840/50.
@babywithacrowbar ... no, not a huge difference at all if you are going to use gain only from preamp.. But it depends on a poweramp. Crate spa200 is a good poweramp, it's actually instrument poweramp.
@Themethalmaster ...no just one in the bridge. No need for the other. No money either :) .. Stock pickup is in the neck, SH-1 if I recall. Very good pickup actually.
@Themethalmaster ... you'll need an external equalizer right before the poweramp and boost lows, hi-mids and cut low-mids to get in the frequency area I use. Also never go past noon on treble on 530
@alekke Alright. Im asking you all this things cause im thinkin about getting a loomis signature and im not a EMG fan, and i have a Lundgren M7 in my old guitar, so im lookin for a nice neck pickup with warm cleans and smooth leads. Any recommendations?
@alekke The first that came to my mind was a LiquidFire from Dimarzio. The SS amp you are using, is it specially designed for guitar frequencies? I googled a bit about it, but cant find any good info. What i saw it that people sells it for 70$, is that right? It sounds so fucking badass, your combo with M7, E530 and that SS.
@alekke Ok, thank you. One last question: do you know any other SS poweramp that is available nowadays in current musicstores, that is as good as your carvin?
I have Super C model. It affects the tone a bit, but I like what it does. It cleans it up, boosts it a little, cleans up the harshness. Nothing dramatically. I don't like it very much because controls are hard to adjust if you use a lot of gain. That's why I use another gate just before preamp.
What do you think of the rocktron hush I'm thinking of picking one up for my live rig, I play metal and I'm worried that its going to effect my tone, also what model do you have?
would u believe me if i tell you that my father passed by when i was cranking up the volume& watching your video and he said: now this is good music, you should get me this record!!!!!! he's not even a metalhead but well, i think he starts to feel the addiction hhhh
@KmS69GlItChErS uuuummmm tried to explained myself that photo camera and youtube make it brittle, but no offense, I refuse to take a critique from a guy who screws his table lamp on a youtube ;)
@alekke hahahahahahaaha man thats not me dude its my little cousin xD he moved to canada and i got his computer which was logged in already when i used it so i just used it... and i think its funny so chill dude.. and second i didnt know you "tried to explain yourself"... i was told that M7's can get brittle and thin but i didnt really believe it was true due to other vid's, so when i heard this i wanted to know if its the p/u or just shitty recording...
yeah, my english sometime fails ... I never noticed brittleness of M7 when performing, only on this videos, but I know how it sounded when I played it on that videos so I don't hear it that way. Its never only M7, there are wood, pre/power amp, eq setting, cabinet, and other things involved. Take a listen of our 2 latest live videos, maybe there is a better projection of the sound, although it needs to be recorded in studio.
high gain, lead ch., contour boost on, gain on half, bass on 1h, lo mid on half, hi mid on 2h, treble on 10h, eq settings- boosted bass and hi mid freqs., poweramp settings pretty common (almost flat)
actually I did not use contour switch on the album. I played with contour for almost a year after album was recorded, and I now again play without it. I'm not always in the mood for it.
For the fq's: I boost mostly 100hz, and a little 80, and 160hz. Cut below 60hz. I cut 350 or 400hz (can't remember exact band) than boost a little 600hz, litle more 1-2kz, and little 4khz, cut all above 6khz. I could say my eq graph looks like two titties laying on the floor :)
COol man, thanks alot. Ya ive been recording direct with it for the past couple days, getting some decent results (better then podxt anyway). I cant get the same bite with contour switch on so i leave it off. Like is said before, i bought this based off your clips here, and im loving it. thanks again.
did you haave any problems with mounting the m7 into your schecter? im gonna buy a schecter 7 string but i have heard that the m7 are to big for the hole, is that true?
actually I did have some problems. M7 has corners on the metal plate that keeps the magnet on a little bigger and not so round as Duncans. So you'll have rout your guitar a little. Not a big deal.
@burnyourcrutch ... no need for apologizing. Again it is recorded with digital photo camera so reviewing the sound that deep is not fair.

@alekke Oh, ok, thank you. I thought that it normally has two active stock pickups.
Themethalmaster 11 months ago
@Themethalmaster ...yes, new Blackjack is active. This is the old one, from 2008.

@alekke I had the E530 + Rocktron Velocity 100 combo once before. I wasnt really amazed of it, i think the older rocktron were better.

@alekke Is that what mades your sound so tight?
Themethalmaster 11 months ago
@Themethalmaster ... actually EQ is what makes it bigger and more present. If you want some extra tightness throw a boost in front of preamp.
alekke 11 months ago
@alekke when you said "right before the poweramp" do you mean the equivalent of having an EQ pedal in an amp's FX loop?
metallica5252 1 week ago
@metallica5252 ...yep, that would be same thing, yes.

@Themethalmaster ...not much of a neck pup user but SH-1 or SH-2 are always popular solutions, or DiMarzio Tone Zone so I heard

@Themethalmaster ...it has hi/lo damping so it can be used for both instruments or PA. Dont know whats the web price but those are rare afaik

Themethalmaster 11 months ago
@Themethalmaster ... there is this new rocktron velocity 300 that seems fine. 300w SS should be enough for any gig.

same as on JB ... 500k ... Johan says M7 works great with those, and it really does. I wouldn't want darker sound with 250k pots.
