Theyre both pretty easy to care for and the appearance is an opinion question to me. I like the monitors but others love the tegus.

The only real problem with those two lizards is that they grow well over 4 feet long and eat quite a bit. They also need to be held daily to become tamer.

Hey there man your title says baby male tegu? can i ask how u determined his sex? If i am not wrong they are jus tlike monitors u can sex them by luck if you see thier hemipenes when they poop am i right? cuz if u know a safe way or your source can identify sex at babyhood then I am definitely going throgh you when the time comes!! please respond

Awesome, I like Tegus and monitors some of my fav reps but their just to big had a 4 feet Iguana, he was way to much. are there any small monitors?

Argus Monitors(Varanus panoptes hornii) they get from about 2 1/2 feet to 4 1/2 feet

On second thought, I think a Tegu would be a better choice then a monitor. They seem less prone to attack, lol.

And also they could live in smaller enclosures then a savanah

I have a 6x2.5 enclosure with nothing in it I built for a burm that passed on.

Would that be okay?
