  • I want this video on my E65 phone.

  • Jonny Wilkinson was no match for Carter in the 2005 Lions tour. Since then he has gone on to eclipse everything that Jonny ever achieved. But thanks for the vote of confidence in us winning the RWC this time. I was beginning to question why we go into every RWC as favourites. Then I remembered it must be our aura. Something the England team can only ever dream of capturing.

  • What a legend, such a shame that he is retiring :(

  • Your video is a favorite on Georgetown

  • It's a shame that rugby doesn't matter...

  • Calmy slotted is right, after three attempts. But give him some credit. He's no Dan Carter.

  • @stevenbissett yer your absolutely right... hes actually played in a world cup final

  • @eddyd63 My last memory of Jonny at the RWC was him sitting on the bench.

  • @stevenbissett well youve got an awful memory seeing as he started against france

  • @eddyd63 I stand corrected. Martin was indecisive as to who his best no. 10 so he thought he would put them both on. When Toby showed he was more effectual then Wilkinson, Jonny was taken off. But let's not quibble.

  • @stevenbissett no lets not, 2 world cup finals, one at the peak of his game that he won. came back from a series of debilitating injuries, how many rugby players could do that and play in another world cup final? look at henson, hes a shadow of the player he was, wilkinson wasnt as good granted, but he was still up there with the best in the world.

  • @eddyd63 after his injury he wasnt as good as he was

  • @eddyd63 The best in the world is Dan Carter. The fact that he hasn't played in any World Cup finals does not matter one jot. He's been nominated international rugby player of the year by the IRB more times than Wilkinson. He has a higher points average per game than Wilkinson. He's scored more international points than Wilkinson. Wilkinson is over-rated. A good player but a man who stands in Carter's shadow.

  • @stevenbissett with things like points and average per game, do you not think its also the fact that carter has been playing in the best team in the world for the last 8 years? I would agree that right now carter is the better player, however to say wilkinson is overated is ridiculous. At the peak of their careers i think its pretty tough to choose between them. Wilkinson was far and away the best fly half in the world 2001-2003

  • @eddyd63 Wilkinson certainly was a force back in 2001-2003 but the rest of his career is not much to write home about. Graham Henry's controversial rotation policy meant that Carter only played in really tough matches like those against the Springboks and Wallabies. Carter has only drop kicked four goals in international rugby but scored 29 tries. The reverse of those stats are probably more applicable to Wilkinson.

  • @stevenbissett the tactics of the different teams have reflected that, although yes carter is more of a running 10 and wilkinson is much better at drop goals. i dont see why that is a reason to believe hes a far better player. not much to write home about, after a succession of near career ending injuries, he reached another world cup final.

  • @eddyd63 Carter doesn't drop goals because the Mighty All Blacks back themselves to score tries or force their opponents to give away penalities when inside their 22. England quite often are unable to apply the same pressure hence attempt the drop goal. Doesn't mean Wilkinson is better than Carter at drop goals. It took Wilkinson three attempts to land a drop goal in the 2003 RWC final did it not? Something that is quite often overlooked by England rugby fans.

  • @stevenbissett isnt it just so convenient that carter has played in the best team in the world for most of his career though. your absolutely right, wilkinson drops for goal because england havnt at times been able to exert the same pressure, however sometimes he has because its an easy 3 points for him

  • @eddyd63 Oh and the Mighty All Blacks have been the best team in the world for far longer than the last 8 years. Many nations including Ireland, Argentina, and Scotland have never beaten them.

  • @stevenbissett between 2000-2003 england were the best team in the world, beating new zealand home and away

  • @eddyd63 Correction - You were the best team in the world from November 2002 to winning the WRC the following year. My goodness, even the greatest player of all time was still playing for the Mighty All Blacks back in 2000. Since being ranked no.1 by the IRB in 2003 your world ranking has slipped to as low as eighth. Have a crow about that.

  • @stevenbissett correction, there was no irb world rankings until the month before the 2003 world cup. however seeing as england didnt lose a match against any of the southern hemisphere teams between 2000-2003, i would say yes, they were the best team in the world at that time

  • @eddyd63 haha, also im not trying to crow about anything, it is you who is making wild sweeping statements about the 'Mighty All Blacks', you clearly dont like seeing a reasoned argument for jonny wilkinson being an excellent player who is able to match up to dan carter. you are clearly very blinkered, however as a new zealand supporter that must be expected. you might like this video depicting the mighty all blacks' deserved win in the world cup this year

  • Can't imagine what must have been going through his mind, that's the moment you dream of as a child

  • and of his weaker foot with a broken collarbone - ledgend.

  • 18 people are Australian

  • 18 aussies, took it too far

  • England won thanks to him and his foot, ugly game but still a victory

  • right foot WTF!

  • I'd like to see him do that again.

  • legend

  • Jonny's still better than flood!(nice video)

  • the 15 people who disliked this clip are clearly bitter that Jonny did it for us in 2003.

  • @Whitedoorsareblack don't think that many Aussies are bitter, I was pleased it was such a high quality final in comparison with previous years, It was pleasing to see england score a try instead of play suffocation. Not only that it was scored by Jason Robinson, all time great. This game had plenty for Aus to cheer about, I was eight at the time and sitting in front of my TV in the 79th minute when Gordon Bray said It's a penalty and we could kick a sideline shot and force the game into extra ti

  • @spikhaza yeah mate im an aussie and nah were not bitter. although any bloke wearing an english shirt the day after got an earful i can tell you. we're generally just happy when south africa doesnt win to be honest!

  • @spikhaza yeah mate im an aussie and nah were not bitter. although any bloke wearing an english shirt the day after got an earful i can tell you. we're generally just happy when south africa doesnt win to be honest! You're right it was a great final game, and a magnificent finish my Wilkinson. It was devastating to see matt guitea under so much pressure and respond so well, to have it taken away from him at the last second, but england earned the win. GO WALLABIES THIS TIME AROUND!!

  • I remember I was in a pub in Sydney, my parents were at the game, I cried, my Dad who is English laughed at me FML

  • Come on boys, won in 2003, in the final last time, lets bring it home again. We've got a pretty good squad, lets bag us another!

  • I remember this 10 years old sat in the pub was more concerned about my sweets and coke as i was looking at them whilst he kicked it

  • ha too bad he couldnt do that in 07 lol

  • The english- always champions

  • damn lefty kicking righty haha

  • What a great sports memory.

  • This made me proud to be English!

  • sounds like an england home game 2 me....

  • He missed a few before this though, did anyone forget that?

  • @KGWatchYTVids so what he got it this time and it was the most important of the whole game

  • @Brady2k10 But it wouldn't have been that important if he got the earlier ones.

  • @KGWatchYTVids yes but this was the important one because they didnt have much time left and it won us the game

  • 24 Likes - English

    10 Dislikes - Aussies

Hoping For A Reply This Year In New Zeland! :D

  • I remember sitting watching this and thinking we were going to lose in extra time ( When does England win anything after the final whistle ) and then we scored and I went mental, never been so happy.

  • The one dislike was an Aussie

  • i got goosebumps automatically

  • Martin Johnson was about as close to crying as you will ever see outside of his family affairs at the final whistle. Great day, great tournament, greatest England team ever. Cheers Oz.

  • ENGLAND CHAMPION OF THE WORLD CUP 2003
