  • It also seems that the clutch was sleeping in this video. Notice the delay from revs to speedometer and then how long it takes to grab between shifts.

  • @KBrock57, actually you could get a manual five speed with 4 cylinder, 2.5 duratec v6, and of course it was the only option in the Svt.

  • @rufusvonstorm --I have to wonder how you had that much trouble. I ran the snot out of mine for almost 300,000 miles, and it kept begging for more. Only broke down once when a gear shifter pin broke; still made it 30 miles home in second gear. Replaced the water pump at 120,000 because I shattered the impeller in a (stupid) street race. Otherwise, belts once, one wheel bearing, alternator (around 220k miles). Oh, and 8 sets of Goodrich G-Force KDW tires at around $700 a set.

  • @VAspeed3 yeah I think it might have done better if it had a stick, always had better luck with MT cars. this was an auto with 110hp or so, and really struggled to get out of its own way. also, it had been a caltrans car so I have no idea how it was maintained in the miles before I got it. in general I tend to like FORD better than GM products, and theyve stepped their game up lately

    Not true. I had a Volvo 850 Turbo wagon (222 hp stock...very quick). I'm 28 with a perfect driving record. Insurance? $72 Mo. I then bought a 95 Ford Taurus SHO(220 hp). Insurance? $148 Mo!!!!! I thought the same thing. 4 door sedan (a Taurus no less) would be cheap on insurance. Not true. The insurance companies know that an SHO is a fast car. The SHO sucked anyway, couldn't wait to sell. I now own a BMW 325is...insurance? $93/mo. Go figure.

  • WOww did u get off the rev limiter ??? because i got an svt and i cannot pass 6600-6800 is impossible to go even a little bit in the red,, and u go in 7000, it just the littile touch i need to do an 0 to 60 in 6.6-6.5 withou chip or any modd

  • @ajlod934893 . Maybe is her tire size are not in 15" or 16" and give wrong speed and rpm is the only way I see or has realy remove the rev limiter

  • @callbatman For the 2.5 to put in vvt ,is that its worth, and we talk about how much hp gain and we talk about how much investment ,, i think the best and cheap think to do wit that car is to fit an 3liter on it that wat all poeple talk about

  • nice, the fastest i had mine going was 133. had to slow down tho...too many cars coming after i hit 130mph mark. only has a kkm intake and 75mm maf.

  • Awesome, I had a 99 Contour and 97 Mystique, both Duratec 2.5 V6 24V stock output and crappy auto. Wish I had an SVT

    Once on Christmas morning a couple years back and again the morning after the Super Bowl.

    Alternator deleted itself at 50k.

    Timing belt, pulleys, and tensioner deleted themselves at 55k.

    Thermostat deleted itself at 65k.

    Yes, the "driver returned on foot" many, many times.

    Now have a Honda Accord @ 100k.

    Getting bored of not having to replace parts.

  • the fastest i've been on my Contour is 102mph...  but it's a GL model. Rides and handles good, but stuff always break... Ford and its cheap suppliers suck.

  • redline is in fact 7 but modified can be up to 8200 but normally people do 7200-7400 with the svt cams, very rigerous durability testing was put into these motors at redline conditions for hours on end. just not for sweeping right hand turns lol. my .02
