I really love bubblegum music but it wasn't until years after the phenom passed that I heard this tune. What a lot of fun. Imagine if the Ramones or one of the new wave bands revived this.
What frightens me is that I remember this record. I didn't pay much attention to it when it came out, as it was just another bubble gum record...years later it all came back to me! Must have been the LSD...but I'm better now. :) Nice find. Cheers!
Wow! Someone ELSE has this record. Here's the reason for the need to record from vinyl to disc. No one will put this on disc! The other side is "It Must've Been the Wind" from spring 1969.
Agree- makes you wonder how many other cool tunes never got air play. The band "The Simple Image" from New Zealand does a real good cover. You can find their CD "Spinning Spinning Spinning" or something like that on Amazon or Ebay....usually. There are three or four other tunes on the CD that sound like the good old days of Top 40 radio as well
"The Grooviest Girl In The World" was not a nationwide radio hit because many programmers felt that the line "and I'm a guy with impeccable taste, ahhh" was sexual innuendo that would be offensive to some listeners. It is, however, one of the most underrated pop singles of all-time...
Essa música saiu aqui no Brasil com o Renato e seus Blue Caps - A Garota que eu Quero.

This went to #11 in Cleveland, Ohio in 1969. Memories.

Someone once called ME 'the grooviest boy in the world' (in reference to this song), but I wasn't sure if I should be flattered or dismayed..

It wasn't done to like bubblegum stuff with my particular peer group in 1968. But I couldn't help making an exception for this song.

How could this song only hit #78 on the charts?? It sounds like at least a top 20 song.
