  • Why were my comments removed? :(

  • i opened a second tab by accident... i loved it on purpose? it sounds good if you open a tab at a good time :\

  • thumbs up if this song makes you feel already dead

  • I dont know if any my family will ever read this; but this is what I want played at my funeral. Hopefully, years from now.

  • this song reminds me of spirited away

  • This song makes insignificance turn into importance.

  • Put on headphones, turn up the volume, close your eyes and just lose yourself in this song. I just did and I feel...

  • @TheMauso88 ..I know.. Its an amazing feeling..

  • ..It's amazing what this song can do to you.. It feels like... The darkness inside, just rushes right through you..

  • this IS my coping mechinism...

  • i just saw someone write "This is my study music" CRAZY because it's mine too! No one understands why I love Nine Inch Nails so much!!! Trent you are an amazing artist and no one compares to the things you are capable of! Bring me more :)

  • Your vid is a favorite on Morocco

  • @hunteraceved49 wow thats cool! didn't know they like this kind of music there!

  • Was sitting 10 minutes and thinking what to write about nin.. And.. nothing. There are none.. It's the feeling, emotions, everything it self. N.I.N. gives em all

  • this is soo beautiful! :3 Trent Is a GENUIS! :D this song kinda makes me wanna cry though... oh well! as long as it clams me down when im stressed! :3

  • *opens eyes after meditating to song, looks around almost forgets where he was at in the first place, feeling totally relaxed now.* "Awesome."

  • You have no idea where this song brought my mind.

  • @TheBlondeOneisEpic ditto........... imagine meditating to this shit.....

  • amazing.

  • This is my study music, over and over again it just clears my mind an allows me to focus on my work.

  • I didn't think there was an album put out by Nine Inch Nails in 2002. I thought it went 'The Fragile' THEN 'With Teeth', not 'And All That Could Have Been' in between. I thought Trent was battling a drug addiction between those albums, not making any music. Unfortunately, this track must be the best on the album in my opinion. I think the rest of the album is rubbish from what I have heard or it doesn't appeal to me... maybe it does to you?

  • @2843pedro

this is actually one of my favourite albums from them, each to their own i guess.

  • My Grandmother who is at the current age of 91 right now is a great woman. She just called my Father and requested us to come say our goodbye's to her. She has had cancer the last 8 years but did not want anyone to know and did not seek treatment either, as Chemotherapy would most likely of sped up the death process. I will keep this song in my head as I go a say goodbye to her on MondayJanuary 23 2012..

  • @xXAlphaParadoxXx awesome, dude. don't even know you, but testimonies like yours are so wonderful and encouraging. blessings to you and your family!

  • @LeFresstique Thank you so much. I've always been a huge NIN fan, but to think that a piece of work like this could impact my life and others in a way that seems impossible is just.... wow.... I don't even know how to put it. I had never told her about this until the same night i posted, and she asked me to show this song to her. She didn't know what to say. She just held me and cried, and told me she was grateful I didn't hurt myself that night. I owe my family to this song.

  • @xXAlphaParadoxXx Wow man. This world needs more minds like yours. Congratulations on the baby :)

  • Where must Trent have been to create such desperate and tragic sounds? What torment must he have felt? Bless you, Trent. This is your best work.

  • the work of a genius

  • This is the sound form of my spirit.

  • at 0:13 an owl hooted outside in the woods. I replayed the song to hear the beginning part again. and at exactly 0:13, the owl hooted again twice as loud. Coincidence...?

  • @XxozzyshizlllxX Owls fucking love Reznor

  • I have overlooked this album, I can't believe how much. It's one of his best, if not the best. :D

  • how can I go suiccide sad in just 10 seconds from listening this song?! so hypnotic notes...

  • The Sound Of The End Of The World.

  • Eh its NIN. I like the Blizzard affecys.

  • For having no words, this song speaks to me. Damn..

  • This is lovely. I got recommended NIN years ago - bought Pretty Hate M... but didn't like it, bought Fragile and didn't like it, so thought all this time I didn't like NIN thinking they were shit. Just been checking thru bit off this album and it all sounds so great. Ghosts sounds fuckin wicked too!! There must be very different sides to NIN.

  • @clearviewmind For my money "Still" is the best NIN record. Might want to check out "A Warm Place" and "Another Version of the Truth" if you're a fan of his instrumental work. Not to mention The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo soundtracks.

  • @remaftp Brill. Thanks a lot. Will def check them out tonight....

  • nin is like the mozart of the 21 first century

  • This is the most emotional instrumental song I have ever heard. It's the best song on the album easily.

  • 4 people have no hope

  • Right after he says "I would find a way" on hurt, this shit starts that would have been the best

  • this is the single most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard. I get goose bumps every time i listen to it. <3

  • I always think of the little plant that is alone in a scorched landscape.

  • This song is like being in the eye of a storm. Beautiful to look at and behold, but past the surface is controlled chaos.

  • I agree with you guys. this song sinks into my soul. If people only knew how amazing trent is. I am eternally greatful.

  • trent reznor = genius

  • Oh. My. God.

  • every single thing just comes back to me...when this song plays..

  • For YEARS, I shit you not, YEARS, have I been looking for this song. I can't believe I've finally found it. I feel complete.

  • @candydash love when that happens...

  • @candydash I know the feeling. I finally found Crosby Stills and Nash's Long Time Gone after an incredibly long search

  • This calm my soul...LIsten this song locking the sun rising,is wondeful.

  • this is the song to be played at my funeral. everyone in my family has known this since it's release. it will always be the song that resonates in my mind.

  • hope is futile, we all must die - we can give up - like everyone wants to but is afraid, we can do nothing except take care of our basic needs...nothing really matters, it all passes away...

  • @bowenmcconnie I loled. You should check out Jenny Holzer's truisms. The truth is hilarious.

  • Hearing this just makes me think of nine inch nails changing all the way from Pretty hate machine to now.Brings me back 2 years ago.......

  • I don't know why,but this this song makes my chest hurt and start to cry.

  • Each key that trent hits feels like he is pricking my soul with a needle.

  • I am 100% serious when I tell you this: This music brings tears to my eyes.

I am not the kind of guy who usually gets moved by some vague techno in the background and some simple piano-playing, not usually... But this song is beautiful. Trent Reznor and NIN are geniuses

  • :'(

  • to be honest i hate nine inch nails, i thought they were shit from the 90's till now but this one album "all that could have been" is simply beautifull, people say it's depressing but it's so emotional :)

  • @j4ckyb01 it varies. its how you perceive it.

  • @j4ckyb01

Why dont you like Nine Inch Nails

He is so deep and amazing!

  • So Powerful

  • R.I.P Andy Whitfield

  • I just can't fathom the dislikes...

  • The single biggest emotional influence on my life ever

  • i never heard any thing like this, i never felt like any of this, i never saw perfect yellow clouds, i never felt any better

  • brings out so many deeply hidden emotions. this is art.

  • Read that somewhere about this song, might help you:

" This song very obviously conveys the feelings of giving up and letting go. It could mean a million things. Giving up on a person that won't help themselves, letting go of a relationship, or just giving up on yourself. It brings to mind a sort of struggle to hold on to hope until the very end when you realize it's not there, nor was ever there to begin with. So you let yourself fall and you don't get back up. You leave hope behind. "

  • @MrVesanique you'r wrong. (sorry for my english i didn't speak very well). Personally, this song bring me the joy... a eternal tranquilitys, when i listen it, i smiles and i feel rested :)

  • @Namichanlavrai À chacun sa vision. :)

  • This song made cry come out.

  • I usually HATE with a passion comments about people who thumbs down, but fuck... Three people have absolutely no fucking heart.

  • THIS is the music, THIS is the art. This is a piece of everyone's heart. This is what I hear when I'm falling apart.

  • @sududai VERY poetic...</3

  • Listen to this song and play this video...

  • This song makes me feel like I have a thousand problems, but I don't need to deal with any of them. Like I've been defeated in life, and it's alright. Never heard anything like this.

  • Quite possibly the greatest piece of modern music made by man. To think that most of people here haven't even listened to it at its full potential (ie, on a pair of quality in-ear speakers). There's so many layers hidden on some lower / higher frequencies here that regular speakers aren't abble to reproduce, a shame really. Regardless of the emo comments, this is a masterpiece, musically speaking.

  • @Gordzing I don't know how he does it. He's so gifted it mind-boggling. I listen to this and I honestly want to cry so badly.

  • It would have been quite interesting to see this played live.

  • just music by itself can tell a story

  • I feel so serene when listening to this, yet this track is moving and cathartic at the same time. True genius.

  • This is my all time favorite NIN song. I listen to it almost every single day and each time it makes me realize how much beauty there still is in the world even though sometimes, as said earlier, "spiritual poverty manifested through loneliness can be nothing short of unbearable". It actually helps me a lot to go through hard times... Last year I had the word "Hope" bound to an anchor tattooed on my chest as an eternal reminder of this. Thank you so much Trent for this incredible piece of art.

  • 3 people have left hope

  • @atomiccows Perfectly said, esp. "spiritual poverty manifested through loneliness can be nothing short of unbearable" it hits a note with me. That said, I love this song. I listen to it every day and hear something new every time I listen...

  • This song kind of reflects the last year of my life.My prozac dose went up and I just feel really apathetic about everything and the girl I loved left to go back to her home country. Everything is kind of grey and not that great anymore.

  • I've been listening to this a lot lately, never gets old. Just a flawless piece of music, Trent is the man.

  • Beautiful.

  • I find it real hard to describe "Leaving Hope"... I feel this sense of unease--similar to feeling nervous--yet I also find it to be such a beautiful song.

  • I have to try songs like these next time I play Minecraft.

  • This song sort of has a George Winston-ish sound to it. Or at least the piano part does.

  • Discovery network anyone?

  • @DreamAboutSpace /highfive

  • @DreamAboutSpace they played this on Discovery network?? where??

  • #2

  • @AxeWieldingLunatic We should all join the military to see what real suffering we can cause.

  • @GeneGibbons9119

All suffering is real, be it physical, psychological, emotional, or spiritual. A broken heart hurts just as bad as anything physical. A broken mind causes pain for all those around them. Spiritual poverty manifested through loneliness can be nothing short of unbearable.

  • @atomiccows ouch.. powerful sentiment.

  • @AxeWieldingLunatic Mind control.

  • @AxeWieldingLunatic Don't worry, you start feeling emotions again once you finish puberty.

  • AxeWieldingLunatic its not being a sissy when music makes you feel different, maybe u should join the military and stop being a fag...

  • the song gave me goose bumps and i felt like just drifting away..

  • All NIN songs makes me have bad dreams...still love it

  • My sould begs beethoven to respond to this

  • fade into nothing just as you realize you were always everything...

  • this song blew my dick away!

  • this song gives me goosebumps. c:

  • I could fall alseep to this, like a lulluby.

  • im not much of a fan of nine inch nails but i love this song

  • @AllofStewie Shouldn't we be thumbing up the video if we have "chills"?

  • Breathtaking

  • Has Trent performed this song live?

  • Beautiful.

  • este tema x mas q'tenga esta melodia me da felicidad escucharlo xq pertenece a alguien q' x el momento no lo tengo cerca.. ni lejos..!

  • Wow!!!!

  • i like how many failed attempts there are at making #1 comments

thumb this up to give hope for myself!

  • @p00ned0wned

lol@ur failed attempt to scapegoat failed attempts for a #1 comment

  • Best thing about reading Youtube comments on certain artists, such as.. NIN, Buckethead etc. Is that you know it's coming from the heart, due to the fact that they are probably still listening to the song as they are typing . Ergo, the music is sending signals to their brain, inspiring them what to say =)

  • when still was released i used to listen to this for weeks nonstop

  • This song makes me feel like someone's invoking my spirit, like a charmer trying to get the snake out the basket, trying to get my soul...

  • This song has so many levels to it; i find it highly emotionally evocative - it has nuances of deep despair and utter hopelessness, but also undertones of hope towards the end

it`s a beautifully detailed song wish there were more like this

  • @jonb5150 I agree but I also sense a bit of hope in the beginning and middle, as if, by the hopelessness you described and by losing it all, one is freed.

  • gloomy, perfect song when you've reached the bottom

  • 2 people have no hope already

  • 2 people have no hope already

  • doope

  • What album can i find this song in?

  • @AncientGamer1 the still album

  • @xBryanTechx Is it a rare album or something? I can't find it anywhere

  • @AncientGamer1 It took me a whlie to find it, one sec pm ill find it for you

  • @xBryanTechx Wait what? You're going to find an album for me ? XD

  • @AncientGamer1 NIN - And all that could have been (still)

  • @AncientGamer1 NIN - still

  • Just when I Trent couldnt possibly top himself, he does it again, First time listening to this song, omg I cant put into words what Im feeling, breathe-less.

  • My soul feels empty when I listen to this, but it feels good....

  • @DinaKulorPloXX exquisitely empty

  • @DinaKulorPloXX Keep the emo bullshit out of here. This is NIN, not My Chemical Romance.

  • @toolfan923 Fuckin A, while it is a sad song, if you're a man and you cry to this, you need to go back to manliness school and not suck ass at it this time.

  • @lenowin I said nothing about crying. I simply stated that your comment sounds emo and doesn't need to be used for a NIN song. Go back to high school and complain about how your parents "don't understand you".

  • @DinaKulorPloXX i feel the same thing but i find it conforting

  • @DinaKulorPloXX ur not high enough then.

  • @DinaKulorPloXX same here babeeee.... sometimes emptiness aint so bad!

  • Two people out there dislike themselves. This is a perfect song in which to introspectively reflect. Some of us dare not delve within ourselves because of what they may find.As for the rest of us....I am inspired by so many that have such great taste in music.

  • @falltowardthesky well put

  • aint nothing wrong with hip hop (reminds me of the kangaroo in the sylvester and tweety shows). im 30 so i grew up in the 80s n 90's and been through quit a lot and can relate to different types of music....such as.......IM TOO SEXY FOR THIS COMMENT, TOO SEXY FOR THIS COMMENT, NO WAY IM DISCO DANCING!!!!! SCHWING!!!!

  • This song reminds me of what it feels like to be stuck in a spell of extreme depression .It captures the mood perfectly.

  • @SlyNicolai Thanks for sharing I didn't mean to put you on the spot. Your story is sad and goes so well with this music

  • @SlyNicolai What kind of bad memories?

  • i had this playing while driving the car during the most amazing sunset ive ever seen, it was so relaxing

  • If you search YT for word "gówno" ("shit" in Polish), this song is presented as Featured Video. I don't really know what to think about it.

  • @MiroslawZalewski Now we know, how did you get here ^^ haha... hey, I'm not judging. I'm glad you've found this song even if that ment to have grose, filthi intentions xD
