@connor097 Here's why: Because Granite is incredibly expensive, and rarely used. Each and Every single top surface and corner is worn, chipped and discolored. You can't patch Granite. It's a slow grind...eventually it just looks like crap. It's just hard to work with Granite, and cost way more than it would seem it should. I know it sounds ridiculus, but 1 million would likely only be enough to pay for the blocks themselves...not even to actually have them replaced. Luckily Skate parks are near

I was there that day, I'm not a boarder but I'm a skater and that was an amazing event. Hundreds of boarders with their boards in the air around the fountain and through Love Park chanting and skating throughout the city , it was great, even when the police started messing with people. My office window, right now over looks Love Park ,it is still open and they still arrest and hassle skaters to this day.
Closing down an entire parks, because people skated there makes no sense. Skaters and nonskaters both enjoy going to parks, so really is there anyone who isn't fucked over by this?

I was there that day, I'm not a boarder but I'm a skater and that was an amazing event. Hundreds of boarders with their boards in the air around the fountain and through Love Park chanting and skating throughout the city , it was great, even when the police started messing with people. My office window, right now over looks Love Park ,it is still open and they still arrest and hassle skaters to this day.
