Look people, it's like splitting hairs trying to decide who's the best when the guitarists you refer to are Blackmore, Hendrix and Gilmour. Anyone up for Clapton? My personal favorite is Blackmore, but there are arguments to be made for other guitarists of great talent.
Blackmore just plays on a higher level that no other guitarist is able to reach. I don't know why and I know that not everyone thinks so but I think his playing is a kind of pure magic.
Check out the metropolis sessions the remake of smoke on the water charity album with many famous guitarists including Mr. Gilmore, they all lay down solo tracks but when Ritchie comes in sits down and pulls off an amazing solo all his peers applaud him. (something really unheard of) Giving respect to the best, Mr. Ritchie Blackmore
@Mwtorres24 You kidding? Of course, I love David Gilmour. I don´t think it´s possibile to have a more souful players - specially considering that he plays only pentatonic scales. And his tone is unsurpassing. Confortably Numb is one of my favorite solos of all time.
@Mwtorres24 Gilmour is one of the best guitarists ever like Page, Malmstreen and some others who are often compared to the Man in Black. But there is one guitarist who is better than all others: Ritchie Blackmore.

He's the best ever. No one gets even close to the Man in Black.
