Ah, man, I loved FFIV, and now I really want to play this game. Does ANYONE know the cheapest way I can get this? I don't have a PSX, so I'd go with the PC version probably. And no, I want to get it legally, so emulators are out of the question.

@NEScRETRO haha....yeah i see why you would say that but i think an actual rpg hipster would say something along the lines of "Final Fantasy 1 for NES was the only good one" but no seriously it's just that i grew up on chrono trigger final fantasy 2 and 3 for Super NES (most people know them as FF6, and FF4) FF7 was ok it got off to a good start but idk what it was about it that just took the fantasy aspect outta the game. i miss when it was castles and not so futuristic.

hands down no game has made me enjoy video games more than this game.. this is one of the greatest video games ever, if not the greatest game ever made.. The music alone will make you play it to death.. I am definitely going to make my kids play this game..
I understand what people are saying about remaking 7 but i would love it.
I love the graphics on the game , but i would also love to see the game remastered and fly the highwind around the world map and see the cities details and not half the size of cloud.
as long as they dont change a single thing about the story or make the highwind like the airship in ff10 it will be epic

The talent that made this masterpeice no longer works for square. A remake would be mediocre, at best with mediocre voice acting and a remastered score with a "j-pop" feel to them. This game is perfect the way it is. It makes you use your imagination with how the characters look and sound and I think that's why old school RPG's are much better than those of today.

The people are practically telling square how they can easily make a couple of billion dollars at the drop of the hat. I've never heard of millions of people telling McDonalds, Macy's, or Target how to do the same. Why won't square listen and re-make the game. Keep the story EXACTLY the same, but upgrade the graphics to PS3 standards. Keep the score the same, just update it to today's digital orchestral standards. I would pay tons for it.
Cloud, Yuffie, and Cid.... The best power gamer combination of all time! I have played this game over and over every two years or so at least. My all time favorite. I was pissed when Aeris died. I had her limit break maxed out the first playthrough LOL. It was GG whenever she was in your party.
The North American Cover Art is one of the most epic pieces I've ever seen. When I look at the cover of this game, It gives me chills. Not only because of how awesome it is, but because of the epicness that comes with the game. I'd also like to say something pertaining to this video, that FFVII music is some of the most epic scores I've heard in music. This games battle experience was defined by it's truly amazing music.

AMAZING! The music in this game flows smoothly, telling the story with equality of the characters. I love this game.It's like something I'd like to live in. I know that sounds weird and crazy but it's true. All the emotions and situations - it's at least similar to life, right?
Out of all the FF games out there FF7 is my favorite one out there so far! i love the music, characters, bossses, role play, and the graphics for that certain period of time.....It cant get any better than this! a lot of people are saying that they should remake ff7. am i the only person who thinks that without the old graphics, it just wouldn't be the same :/ i just feel like they set the mood of the game. Sure you have your amazing 1080p HD graphics now but back then, the graphics in ff7 were almost revolutionary! They cannot possibly think of remaking such an amazing game. And yes the cut scenes in may of the current games look stunning but i mean so did the ones in ff7. that's my opinion anyhow...

I agree ff13 was amazing to look at but it also had an amazing storyline IMO (thanks to square enix teh best company evar!!!) but most other games cant do that :/
@tidetidus To be honest, I don't even care that much about the gameplay. The component that's missing from all the newer Final Fantasies is the STORY. In 12, who gives a crap about some kingdom being invaded? I don't play fantasy games to be cast in the role of some pussy kid (X had this problem too, but not nearly as bad). In 13, the plot is boring - the characters don't have direction, there's no goal or plan, just run away and then maybe kill the robot god things.

@KRAZYKIERAN4U I have to disagree. When I saw the remade intro of FF7 for the PS3 test, it was just amazing. Or the repeated scenes in Crisis Core. Like the end when Zack dies. It was so so so much better than in the original. Or even in Advent Children. Seeing the church and whatnot in such modern animation was amazing. I'd love to play through the game with it being re-made so beautifully.
@emcitement you have a fair point. Advent children did look amazing!. If they were to re-make ff7 then sure i'd give it a go but i'll always return to the original. :) that game did so much for me. But that's just my opinion. What i wouldn't like is if they changed the music. If they change that i am never playing a remake. full stop :/
@KRAZYKIERAN4U Just watching like the FF7 PS3 tech demo shows it still has that feel of the original (apart from when they overdo Cloud jumping off the train. all that sort of stuff would need to be cut) and looks great. I'd buy a PS3 for a re-make of it. I agree with the last statement. This game has the best music of any video game (imo) and even some of the best pieces out there. Remakes of the tracks are fine with me. There was some great ones in CC and on this site, but no changes.
@KRAZYKIERAN4U I do agree with you. Why is illustration illustration? I'm a painter, and I currently study with the greatest painter living. Neither of us like hyper realism or photo realism, Rembrandt and Leonardo are the best period. Too much information kills the imagination, kills the ability for the receiver to bond with the work. The early FF usually swallowed me whole, even Tactics. More is not better, and when everything is important, nothing is.

But they still put that effort, that passion, into it, and look how great it was. Now they know they can put anything on the shelves and it will sell greatly. Why else does XIII get THREE related games? Kingdom Hearts III, Final Fantasy VI, VII... look at all the games we would like. Yet they don't bother. They'll stick with XIII.

Agreed. The game was perfect first time round. Forget remaking games and remastering movies. The graphics are part of the charm now and changing them would remove a sense of nostalgia for people who played it first time round. Classics are classics because they don't need changing.
For me, the Gold Saucer music is one of the best pieces of music ever made, let alone the best Final Fantasy VII song! What a tune, can't believe you left it out. All the music in this game is amazing though.

A remake of this game would be awesome if not the best ever final fantasy game.Just as long as the ghaphics were improved and the gameplay was left untouched.Ive spent hundreds of hours playing this game over and over.Its amazing kicking sephiroths ass.The music is awesome too.Square enix get the finger out and please do what all the fans want.THEY WANT A REMAKE AND HURRY UP LOL!!!!

AMAZING! The music in this game flows smoothly, telling the story with equality of the characters. I love this game.It's like something I'd like to live in. I know that sounds weird and crazy but it's true. All the emotions and situations - it's at least similar to life, right?

Out of all the FF games out there FF7 is my favorite one out there so far! i love the music, characters, bossses, role play, and the graphics for that certain period of time.....It cant get any better than this! a lot of people are saying that they should remake ff7. am i the only person who thinks that without the old graphics, it just wouldn't be the same :/ i just feel like they set the mood of the game. Sure you have your amazing 1080p HD graphics now but back then, the graphics in ff7 were almost revolutionary! They cannot possibly think of remaking such an amazing game. And yes the cut scenes in may of the current games look stunning but i mean so did the ones in ff7. that's my opinion anyhow...

@KRAZYKIERAN4U i kind of agree with you, but then i also think that Final Fantasy 13 was amazing to look at, and what made FF7 so FF7 like was the game play ( but also the crappy sound effects :D ). If they re made FF7 ( or 8 or 9) with graphics and appearance of FF13, but exactly the same Game play, i reckon it would be better. Its just that they seem to focus only on graphics these days rather than game play

@tidetidus you have a point there :) i just feel like ff7 wouldn 't be the same with amazing graphics. i can't really explain it very well :P But yeah the gaming industry today concentrate on getting the best possible graphics rather than an amazing storyline. I agree ff13 was amazing to look at but it also had an amazing storyline IMO (thanks to square enix teh best company evar!!!) but most other games cant do that :/

@tidetidus To be honest, I don't even care that much about the gameplay. The component that's missing from all the newer Final Fantasies is the STORY. In 12, who gives a crap about some kingdom being invaded? I don't play fantasy games to be cast in the role of some pussy kid (X had this problem too, but not nearly as bad). In 13, the plot is boring - the characters don't have direction, there's no goal or plan, just run away and then maybe kill the robot god things.

@KRAZYKIERAN4U I have to disagree. When I saw the remade intro of FF7 for the PS3 test, it was just amazing. Or the repeated scenes in Crisis Core. Like the end when Zack dies. It was so so so much better than in the original. Or even in Advent Children. Seeing the church and whatnot in such modern animation was amazing. I'd love to play through the game with it being re-made so beautifully.

@emcitement you have a fair point. Advent children did look amazing!. If they were to re-make ff7 then sure i'd give it a go but i'll always return to the original. :) that game did so much for me. But that's just my opinion. What i wouldn't like is if they changed the music. If they change that i am never playing a remake. full stop :/

@KRAZYKIERAN4U Just watching like the FF7 PS3 tech demo shows it still has that feel of the original (apart from when they overdo Cloud jumping off the train. all that sort of stuff would need to be cut) and looks great. I'd buy a PS3 for a re-make of it. I agree with the last statement. This game has the best music of any video game (imo) and even some of the best pieces out there. Remakes of the tracks are fine with me. There was some great ones in CC and on this site, but no changes.

@KRAZYKIERAN4U I do agree with you. Why is illustration illustration? I'm a painter, and I currently study with the greatest painter living. Neither of us like hyper realism or photo realism, Rembrandt and Leonardo are the best period. Too much information kills the imagination, kills the ability for the receiver to bond with the work. The early FF usually swallowed me whole, even Tactics. More is not better, and when everything is important, nothing is.

It just seems that the team behind this game had a lot of passion for the story, the characters, and the world. It shows in the art, the music, and the graphics at the time were the best. Their later games just feel like mass-produced shit compared to FFVII. Almost as if they don't care to sit down and think anymore.

@Solidarity1024 You're right. The passion's lost. Now it's all about the dollar signs Square sees in their eyes. Back then, they never knew VII would be so great. But they still put that effort, that passion, into it, and look how great it was. Now they know they can put anything on the shelves and it will sell greatly. Why else does XIII get THREE related games? Kingdom Hearts III, Final Fantasy VI, VII... look at all the games we would like. Yet they don't bother. They'll stick with XIII.

@KRAZYKIERAN4U Yes thats the issue, im sure they realize this as well and is the reason they have not already remade their game.
And that reason is because it is their legend. It has a soul about it, if you played it during it's time it was almost as if you were there.
Since they already have it as a legend, a re-make could potentially ruin it and its perceived "Soul" or atmosphere etc.
However IF they do it right a remake could be just as amazing as the first, but it is of course risky...

@KRAZYKIERAN4U i agree. and it most likely will never happen. most of SQUARESOFTs team has been removed and formed or joined indie companies. even if it got a re-hash it would probably be changed and flipped upside down so many times it would probably wind up being some dissidia/XII/Tactics hybrid. SQUENIX (or square-enix) has fell off the earth. quit wasting your time and money publishing shit titles like kane and lynch 2 for MSGs and get back to what made your company to begin with square!

Agreed. The game was perfect first time round. Forget remaking games and remastering movies. The graphics are part of the charm now and changing them would remove a sense of nostalgia for people who played it first time round. Classics are classics because they don't need changing.
