I have no problem with the opinions of others, but it seems that you forgot that the game came out in 1997. Anyone who played it then will understand that the game was a deconstruction of typical JRPG cliches. For the average player back then, it was something completely different from your regular JRPG experience. 14 years later it seems cliche to new players because 90% of all RPGs since then tried to copy story elements from it and attempted to replicate FF7's winning formula.

FF7 had one of the most immersive storylines in the history of video games. it also has a wonderful score, and one of the most dynamic fighting systems ever designed in a role playing game. this game paved the way for games to come, and was made in a better time, before the creation of the dvd, and super high graphics, FF7 may look "like crap" to you, but it didn't need impressive graphics, or flashy action scenes, it simply was a great game

i couldnt agree more! what i like about the older final fantasies is that its dark, it has cool characters, the music couldnt get any better and there is a romance somewhere in there. these games captured audiences from all age categories. the final fantasies now seriously lack some of the qualities and seem to bring in younger audiences. im a serious final fantasy fan but i really dont like where their going with the series. although final fantasy versus 13 may be the savior. have you seen it?

@MarkoPolo530 No-doubt, its just FF7 has the best for me anyway. I think its mainly because the story is so deep, dark and just generally epic. The Charatcers r awesome, you really get sucked in2 them, once you meet them all, and the adventure really starts opening up, they really feel like a family. Also the villain, Sephiroth is sooo dark, so manacing, and I think the music overall in FF7 really compliments and reinforces all of this. I just think in its music FF7 has so many levels to it.

This song reminds me of a very good point: Although this music may sound worse from a technical standpoint (As in MIDI instead of real instruments), the fact that it's not orchestrated actually makes it sound much better than it would were it played with real instruments. To be honest, I'm a little bit sick of the realistic sounding music that is so prevalent in rpgs these days.
