@daxsa Kikuyu are not Kenyan. Luhya, Luo, Kalenjin are the real Kenyans. Obama is a Luo from his fathers side, you can tell because he is a good man & hard working. I don't live in Kenya by the way, but my mother did. I like Kenya but I'm afraid the country will never enjoy peace & success as long as the Kikuyu are there. But I don't live in Kenya so this is for them to decide... when a killer lion is loose, its dealt with, you don't wait for it to attack. That's common wisdom.
@ObamaBiden20082012 On what basis can you even make such a claim? Our ancestors migrated to the land of milk and honey just as your ancestors. Your views of Kenya reflect those of a person who has never lived or even spoke to a Kikuyu. Firstly Kikuyus did not run the country beginning in 1978 and ending in 2002. During that time the country had one coup d' etat, two huge tribal clashes (instigated by the Kalenjin almighty Moi), and several attacks and assassinations on Key members of reform.
@ObamaBiden20082012 My point is the Kalenjin are not almighty and the person elected to government should not be elected because of his tribe. Look at what happened during this election. There was heavy rigging on BOTH sides, BOTH sides instigated riots and mass murder and BOTH sides are in government now. Someone has to see that this was a game the political elites played on the Kenyan people. They are all the same and until we stop this stupid tribalism they will continue to scheme us.
Raila is a tribal elite hypocrite and ally of Imperialist just like Kibaki Mutua and their friend Kofi Annan
Raila said no peace without justice, but there has been no justice, but he is now in government with Kibaki

These PITIFUL post-colonial states are not countries or nations and have never been
These Tribal Political Identities breed immoral group consciousness that only pervert individual moral consciousness on all sides (making everybody both victim and perpetrators, including Raila)
Once we accept these facts Africans of consciousness and dignity who have never participated in politics or political violence can begin serious discussions
WE MUST ALL ADMIT, KENYA IS NOT AND HAS NEVER BEEN A COUNTRY, BUT A POST-COLONIAL STATE, JUST LIKE THE REST OF MOST OF AFRICA a Yoruba happens to live in a Nigeria a Luo happens to live in a Kenya a Oromo happen to live in a Ethiopia an Acholi in Uganda etc.
Tribal diversity can be a source of mutual enrichment. The tribes of Kenya can learn a lot from each other. In fact, I don't know if there is a long-term solution. Politicians will always instrumentalize tribal affiliations to either stay in power or to come to power.
Lastly, if the country is dominated, politically and economically by members of specific ethnic groups, other ethnic groups will always feel "oppressed", neglected and inferior
Prince, Tribal Political Identity is a disease in this post-modern world, all these colonially constructed countries of ours will remain underdeveloped with poor people who will kill other poor people because "their" tribal elite didn't get power for the next 1000 years...fuck tribal political identity, Africa and Africans need to find a new source of modern individual consciousness beyond tribal identity or else we are no worse then worthy of human dignity and respect since we don't give it
Prince, a spiritual cultural movement that creates a NEW TRIBE, based on common AFRICAN ROOTS of HUMANITY and FAITH is the solution I am not saying its going to be easy, but its the only SOLUTION, long term short time or no term, a spiritual revival as the grassroots...this are not issues of politics these are issues of life death culture spirituality for a Luo to kill s poor Kikuyu mother and baby just because Raila a man he has probably never met lost an election is beyond political problems
That's what it all boils down to: "political and economic power" and politicians use tribalism as a means to win political power. The struggle for economic/political power is at the heart of every conflict.
Also, very often, tribal/ethnic conscience and belonging take precedence over national conscience and belonging. However, the interests of the nation must always come before any personal, ethnic or tribal considerations.
The solution doesn't reside in the eradication of tribalism
no Prince you are wrong, the struggle for economic and political power in Kenya is a child's game, lets me serious, its a child's game in which Africans kill each other with pre-modern weapons, while the rest of the world is advancing, and when ever they feel like it coming in and taking what they want from Africa and Kenya
it is important that we remember that presidents are birthed our of a situation. and from the little that i heard if some of the others were president it would be the same or worst. what births a certain mentality thru out africa in this day. we must note. for it is not an old way of african thinking as we often have it fed to us. africans massacres and the like. hmmm...i just dont remember that part in history. self hatred and being pinned up against a wall can make one crazy as we can see.

In a society where tribal belonging is important, naturally, as a member of a specific tribe, you want your "people", meaning your fellow tribesmen to attain national political hegemony.
Of course not all Kikuyus are rich and powerful but as a Kikuyu, i'd be proud, because they are running sh.., simple observation
We all want power, national interests are secondary.
There has to be an equal sharing of political power among all ethnic groups of Kenya, like in Benin for example.
at least you are honest in this comment, to say you are proud that Kikuyu are running shit...just don't expect the UN, Europe, China, India, America or any other peoples in the world to respect Kenya, you can't have your cake and eat it to, you can't be proud of "your tribe" ruling in these warlord states of Africa and still expect the rest of the world to deal with you as an equal, they will continue to exploit your raw resources for their profits as you continue to tribally exploit each other
odinga is tribalism, greadiness, and he should be ashamed whenever he is...people lost thier lifes, homes they have lived for years, children, loved ones,jobs...is that normal?the blod he caused to be shed just coz the people were payed 200 kenya shillings to go kil? the blodd is cryinmg and calling for revenge unless odinga repents, and admit he did wrong.
since kibaki was elected president,we have seen alot of changes in kenya.only fools or blind can say kibaki have done no changes
Are you sure of what you are saying. Do not be blinded by tribal affiliation. If you read the Waki Report its online on the Standard you will clearly see that each side is to blame. I was in Eldoret and where I was living I saw Kikuyu men armed with crude weapons chasing away people even before the election results were announced. I wonder if Mr Odinga did sent them. Secondly, a lot of Luos were killed in Kisumu by police again its Mr. Ondinga isnt it? I am sure the really sinner will be known
The kind of talk that really fuel hatred. So even the Kikuyus killing each other in Central province its Raila who is telling them to do that. Your man will go down history as the worst 'leader' Kenya ever had. Nothing seems to be going on what with corruption, crime, hunger , tribalism is. If we are blind then you are blinder or even blindest living in a tribal cacoon. I am sure you next meal today will come from Kibaki. i do not care who is the president as long as systems are running
KIbaki was elected president once, but clearly stole the votes on his re-election,sworn in at night..what crap is that????..FUCK HIM!!!!!...and about the war....both of them are indeed responsible..Fuck both of them..chant them babylon pple..I love kikuyus, luos, kalenjins, all kenyan tribes,i pray for peace in kenya..i love Kenya.
The origins of man are the same for everyone but in history there are those who invented the fire and who is not, some people have learned to build and who does not, there are those who put in motion the brain and who does not. Man has created its own destiny by themselves.
I agree with many comments here that Matua's comments are rediculous. He's a Moi hardliner and will obviously say what needs to be said to make Raila and all non-Kikuyus look bad...
You're a brave mzungu going into all that! I appreciate finding your work on the internet/ YouTube!
What I see here is sad. We know that once the colonial powers left they set up each tribe against the other, with the knowledge that as long as we Africans continue to fight and kill each other then they can walk away with the spoils and natural resources all the while saying that they were right in saying that we are subhuman. We need to put tribal, political, regional, religious differences aside.
Very true Rupie68. What happened was very shocking to see.I would hate to see my country end up like some other nations. Kibaki or Odinga it doesn't matter who's president they're politicians and are always going to do what is good for them not the peoples.
Mutua is a fucked up kamba just like many others.he needs to be castrated and have his tongue pulled out and thrown to termites to feast on it. .the most fucked up kenyan alive. Mutua you'll die the most painful death.
Screw you Mutua, paharps you don't know what you saying "you guys are thieves nothing else"-ass hole! no trust Kibaki you are just stupid raping Kenyans on hade and urinating on them, there is notheing like fair, did you hear what he said "We as the government" not government of Kemya, bullshit!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
In the good days of the 1950's, Kenya was a peaceful, prosperous country. Granted, there was the communist inspired Mau Mau troubles, but we took care of them with bullets and rope, and cleansed the Aberdares and the Highlands of them.
Then Great Britain granted Kenya "Ururuh" Freedom as a British Colony, and they were free for self determination, and now you can see how the black man governs. Kwaheri Kenya!
Hail the United Kingoms of Africa. Only a United States of Africa based on african pre-colonial borders can avoid such tragedies. Kenyan people are peaceful people but in a matter of few hours people have turned to each other because of political rivalry. Nigeria yesterday, Ivory Coast, Congo, Rwanda, Kenya now. It's just the beginning until we get united into a federal state respecting the self-determination of every single tribe. Even if we end up having a federal state of 1000 kingdoms!!!
and so what. thats is what you get for trying to overthrow a government. he is lucky his ass wasn't hanged. if being jailed by Moi is a qualification for holding office then there are many many more qualified people. since the coalition was formed they haven't done shit other then get themselves comfortable.
Is there anyone in the US capable of offering strategically planning method to reduce the increase retaliation throughout Africa?
There must be universities from the US with sufficient problem solving schemes and small access US government funds to start to help the process.
Cannot believe so much pain spreaded withing so many political parties. Considering 600 billion dollars spent during current US war, what would be today investing 1 billion dollar to the Africa's country?
The reason why this is happening has nothing to do with colonialism. I believe that the reason the two sides wants power is because when you are in power, any money that is given to Africa by the white people will go straight to the hand of the tribes in power. what africa is fighting for is not democracy or peace, but the left over that is thrown to Africa by the whites. Africa has everything except for creative and inovative minds.
Wow these conversations are interesting. we know that these countries in africa did&do not need shit from the u.s or euro. these industrialized nations have built there back bone on the sweat blood&backs of africans. and the maintain themselves on these africans countries we know that 80% of the industrialized nations resources are from africa. they buy the educated by colonizers education "leaders" and continue their plundering. the economies are oppressed.lets be real and accountable as well.
hard not to make a joke about niggers and gorillas when they keep killing each other and eating bananas.. but whites and asians aren't any better. europe's been up till a hundred heroes ago feuding and killing each other.. same with central asia and coastal asia.
Jee. The people in african countries need to grow up and try to solve these problems without violence........ why is there always so many wars in Africa? Seems like there are just a few civilized countries in the world. Murder people just because they belong to a certaint group, I mean come on... how come people are that stupid to generlise everyone? Its sad how people can be so stupid.
er....where are these 'few civilized countries in the world' ???? last time I checked Africa was not the only place people got killed for belonging to 'a certain group'
The nordic countries to name a few. Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark. Are we rich? yes. Do we have democracy? Yes. Do we fight eachother and murder people beacuse they don't belong to our group of people? No. Do we have low corruption rate - yes.
Twenty odd years ago, Kibaki was thought to be one of the more honest politicians.
So the question arises... Did he become corrupted by the power of office, or is he being manipulated by others?
This manipulation scenario was suggested to be "accepted fact" by a very well informed Kenyan friend that I have. Personally however, I think the first reason is more likely.
Why is it that in Africa most leaders (Julius Nyerere being a notable exception) cling to power without regard to the consequences? Do they think that their individual ambition is more important than the collective good of the wananchi?
Yes indeed, well said -- a great man. Neither Kibaki or Moi before him (and under whom much of the corruption in Kenya started) have ANYTHING in common with either Nyerere or Mandela except the colour of their skin. The wonderful Kenyan people deserve better.
Matua is a bare-faced liar spouting the party line. Everyone who was there (and I was) saw what was happening as the results were being announced. Some results being delayed for no good reason and in others the votes declared for Kibaki were far higher than those same constituents voted for other people in the same district. My friends, mostly Kikuyu, told me at the time that there was going to be trouble. Sadly, even they did not realize who bad it would be.
no need to "hit the kenyan ground" just pay for the tea&coffee & other things that R being taken frm the rift valley.just pay the people or leave them alone to live on their land and reap the benefits of their land and not have share the best of soil with the bottomless pit of the european belly.the guns they dont fall from the sky and not made in africa.get a grip.the new colonization is economic oppression.if 90%of any beings habitat was destroyed how would they live sanely.THINK. thn speak
If you followed the crisis in Kenya, you would have noticed that it's an INTERNAL crisis. Black people against Black people. I don't see how Europeans buying coffee in Kenya could be responsible for that mess.
Of course, if the only thing you want to achieve is to blame the nearest "Whitey", you are in the good path...
The rift in Kenya has become very disturbing. And how can these leaders sit back and fight over power and excuse the deaths of their fellow Kenyan citizens? There needs to be some unity there. If Odinga and Kibaki can't put their reservations aside and unite, how in the Hell do the expect their citizens to? Seriously, this was an atrocity.
This is crazy, they're all Africans livng in one country there shouldn't be so much tribalism warfare. I hope the citizens of Kenya realize that all this violence will destroy their country infrastructures, and much much more.
Although, its happening in Africa now but i don't agree with the idea that its only an African thing. It happened in Europe, where catholics and protestants killed each other, its happening in Iraq where Shiite and sunnis are killed indiscriminately and lot more other places...so its a Human things and its happening worldwide.
I am not saying Europe or the west is perfect It is we can manage a country to be prosperous!! Africans will rather have civil war, as soon as an African has a gun he thinks he is king!!! I know this and if you dont believe me go there and some african friends told me this is how it is!!!
But the question is why Africa is the way it is. It's the environment. The leaders are corrupt, the people are uncared for, foreigners exploit their resources.... not to mention that the borders of the nations of Africa were created by Europeans for economic/colonial benefit. They ignored the people and didn't put tribal differences into consideration.
I'm surprised that you as a black man can make that statement. I thought you were intelligent enough to know that there are deeper issues that lead to strife of this level.I'm dissapointed at your blanket generic statement. Is this the same attitude you have toward your fellow black people who are less fortunate than you in jails, deathrow,on welfare ?Do you just dismiss them coz they "lazy blacks after all..nothing new"
or do you have the capability of knowing the real reason they're that way?
Seriously, can you show me a Black country that works well? Besides Bahamas, I don't see any. Seeing prosperous countries like Kenya and Zimbabwe going to the $h!t drain without any excuses puzzle me.
big resources means foreign interests provocateur big divides/tribalism, and big profits flow from that. what is happening in kenya, is just an exaggeration of the phony left/right political paradigm we have in the west. if afica hadn't been denied industrialization, their countries wouldn't be going to $hit.
It's their land, it's their lives and it's their choices. A company is nothing but a legal person that can be abolished at a whim.
I live with a simple philosophy called objectivism. Man is the goal of his own life. He is supreme in his own choices. I can't live by blaming others for my misfortune. Right now, blaming the "West" for all the ills of the Black Africa is purely pointless. It's only positive actions made by those who live there that will change their life and prosperity.
Sure. Whatever. You're absolutely right on the money. NO foreign influences like NATO or extraction companies dominate Africa, and Africans have a total say in what happens in Africa, with no interference from outside continent influences. I believe you. You're right. Really. uhuh. Truly. Wow. What an intellect you are. Kudos. What WAS I thinking.
-This- current tribal warfare can't be DIRECTLY blamed on "whitey" (hate that term), but in the past, tribalism has been exploited to divide the populations- Napoleon. This has been done to such an extent, that tribalism is some sort of a perpetuum mobilé in Africa, diverting the Africans from the forces that rape their resoucres, while killing rival tribes, which they falsely accuse for the woes of their countries, dragging said countries even deeper in to shit, making min extraction easier.
We don't need to go far to find alliances between europeans and natives. In North-America, during the colonial times, it was common to take natives allies.
This being said, racism and tribalism are not something new on the African continent. Blaming the current conflicts in Rwanda, Somalia, Congo and Kenya over a colonial rule that vanished half a century ago is stretchy at best.

While corruption stays rife, you will never have a democracy, and so while the fat cats rule with a rod of iron, or should we say with a barrel of a gun, they the African people will never live in peace, just look at all the refugee's, shocking!,children scared and scarred for life, wake up and bring about change, get rid of Robert Muegarbe, before he gets rid of you!!!!!!!!!!

There has to be an equal sharing of political power among all ethnic groups of Kenya, like in Benin for example.
PrinceNoirAmericain 2 years ago
at least you are honest in this comment, to say you are proud that Kikuyu are running shit...just don't expect the UN, Europe, China, India, America or any other peoples in the world to respect Kenya, you can't have your cake and eat it to, you can't be proud of "your tribe" ruling in these warlord states of Africa and still expect the rest of the world to deal with you as an equal, they will continue to exploit your raw resources for their profits as you continue to tribally exploit each other

odinga is tribalism, greadiness, and he should be ashamed whenever he is...people lost thier lifes, homes they have lived for years, children, loved ones,jobs...is that normal?the blod he caused to be shed just coz the people were payed 200 kenya shillings to go kil? the blodd is cryinmg and calling for revenge unless odinga repents, and admit he did wrong.
since kibaki was elected president,we have seen alot of changes in kenya.only fools or blind can say kibaki have done no changes
derisa71 2 years ago
Are you sure of what you are saying. Do not be blinded by tribal affiliation. If you read the Waki Report its online on the Standard you will clearly see that each side is to blame. I was in Eldoret and where I was living I saw Kikuyu men armed with crude weapons chasing away people even before the election results were announced. I wonder if Mr Odinga did sent them. Secondly, a lot of Luos were killed in Kisumu by police again its Mr. Ondinga isnt it? I am sure the really sinner will be known
omoko33 2 years ago
The kind of talk that really fuel hatred. So even the Kikuyus killing each other in Central province its Raila who is telling them to do that. Your man will go down history as the worst 'leader' Kenya ever had. Nothing seems to be going on what with corruption, crime, hunger , tribalism is. If we are blind then you are blinder or even blindest living in a tribal cacoon. I am sure you next meal today will come from Kibaki. i do not care who is the president as long as systems are running
omoko33 2 years ago

Africans love to stay that way.

Is there anyone in the US capable of offering strategically planning method to reduce the increase retaliation throughout Africa?
There must be universities from the US with sufficient problem solving schemes and small access US government funds to start to help the process.
Cannot believe so much pain spreaded withing so many political parties. Considering 600 billion dollars spent during current US war, what would be today investing 1 billion dollar to the Africa's country?
olhatube 3 years ago

Blame Kibaki i'm glad he'll die soon.Fuck u Mutua you're just a jerk, asshole
yondobrother 3 years ago
Twenty odd years ago, Kibaki was thought to be one of the more honest politicians.
So the question arises... Did he become corrupted by the power of office, or is he being manipulated by others?
This manipulation scenario was suggested to be "accepted fact" by a very well informed Kenyan friend that I have. Personally however, I think the first reason is more likely.

Why is it that in Africa most leaders (Julius Nyerere being a notable exception) cling to power without regard to the consequences? Do they think that their individual ambition is more important than the collective good of the wananchi?
scotjack 3 years ago
nelson mandela is another exception!
stormbreezemidnight 3 years ago
Yes indeed, well said -- a great man. Neither Kibaki or Moi before him (and under whom much of the corruption in Kenya started) have ANYTHING in common with either Nyerere or Mandela except the colour of their skin. The wonderful Kenyan people deserve better.
scotjack 3 years ago
Matua is a bare-faced liar spouting the party line. Everyone who was there (and I was) saw what was happening as the results were being announced. Some results being delayed for no good reason and in others the votes declared for Kibaki were far higher than those same constituents voted for other people in the same district. My friends, mostly Kikuyu, told me at the time that there was going to be trouble. Sadly, even they did not realize who bad it would be.

no need to "hit the kenyan ground" just pay for the tea&coffee & other things that R being taken frm the rift valley.just pay the people or leave them alone to live on their land and reap the benefits of their land and not have share the best of soil with the bottomless pit of the european belly.the guns they dont fall from the sky and not made in africa.get a grip.the new colonization is economic oppression.if 90%of any beings habitat was destroyed how would they live sanely.THINK. thn speak
evolvinwisdom 3 years ago
If you followed the crisis in Kenya, you would have noticed that it's an INTERNAL crisis. Black people against Black people. I don't see how Europeans buying coffee in Kenya could be responsible for that mess.
Of course, if the only thing you want to achieve is to blame the nearest "Whitey", you are in the good path...
SatanicCod 3 years ago
The rift in Kenya has become very disturbing. And how can these leaders sit back and fight over power and excuse the deaths of their fellow Kenyan citizens? There needs to be some unity there. If Odinga and Kibaki can't put their reservations aside and unite, how in the Hell do the expect their citizens to? Seriously, this was an atrocity.

I am not saying Europe or the west is perfect It is we can manage a country to be prosperous!! Africans will rather have civil war, as soon as an African has a gun he thinks he is king!!! I know this and if you dont believe me go there and some african friends told me this is how it is!!!
reprimand33 3 years ago

SatanicCod 3 years ago
big resources means foreign interests provocateur big divides/tribalism, and big profits flow from that. what is happening in kenya, is just an exaggeration of the phony left/right political paradigm we have in the west. if afica hadn't been denied industrialization, their countries wouldn't be going to $hit.
CheeezMaster 3 years ago
Regardless, the land belongs to the Africans. They can do anything with it, including driving it into the ground like Zimbabwe and south-Africa.
Blaming anybody else for this mess is an insult to the human capacity of reasoning.
SatanicCod 3 years ago 2
whatever. you're not seeing the big picture, my friend.
you may find it interesting to know our fucking of africa didn't stop with the freeing of the slaves, or the last colonial force withdrawing.
ps - it's not "their" land. it wrongfully belongs to the companies that extract resources and the govs that suck said companies' cocks.
CheeezMaster 3 years ago
Bollocks.
SatanicCod 3 years ago
Sure.
CheeezMaster 3 years ago
Okay Cheezy, no need for sarcasm.
In this very case, can you explain to my how tribal warfare between two ethnicities can be blamed on "Whitey"?
I would really like to know.
SatanicCod 3 years ago
-This- current tribal warfare can't be DIRECTLY blamed on "whitey" (hate that term), but in the past, tribalism has been exploited to divide the populations- Napoleon. This has been done to such an extent, that tribalism is some sort of a perpetuum mobilé in Africa, diverting the Africans from the forces that rape their resoucres, while killing rival tribes, which they falsely accuse for the woes of their countries, dragging said countries even deeper in to shit, making min extraction easier.
CheeezMaster 3 years ago
We don't need to go far to find alliances between europeans and natives. In North-America, during the colonial times, it was common to take natives allies.
This being said, racism and tribalism are not something new on the African continent. Blaming the current conflicts in Rwanda, Somalia, Congo and Kenya over a colonial rule that vanished half a century ago is stretchy at best.
