holy shit, in the 90's this was pretty violent for me! watched it in the mornings before going to school...no wonder i got introuble with the teachers!

Cool thing about this show was that you could gradually see the CGI get better as the series progressed. During the Pluto campaign you might see some shots fired but no "splatter" or impact on the bugs, they would just fall down. By the Hawaii invasion, it was almost like watching the movie.

I still prefer the 1988 anime; it was closer to the novel plot, setting and tech spec-wise, but still portrayed the Bugs as monsters instead of an advanced civilization as in the book.

@Dogmeat1950 At least the powered suits in the anime were closer to what they are described in the book and it stayed true to the plot. The point of Carmen being the way she is in the anime is she's nobody's girl as in the novel and they had compact nuclear missiles! Though I do love the skinny arc in this version since the anime only went between chapters 2-10; however I wonder why Rico is never a Filipino in any adaption of SST,he's suppose to represent the Filipino troops that fought in Korea

I think the CG show is more of a realistic feel, cause in the CG they do uses mechs but 1 or 2 per squad. cause lets face it if your trying to fit in a whole it's going to be hard to do it with a bulky mech lol.
