i have so many thoughts about this but i can't find words. aghhhh. basically, i understand where all your fears and worries are coming from, at least the ones expressed here in relation to monogamy, personal time, space, etc. best wishes with that.
Im going to be honest and say i think you might be worrying to much. That being said, you are both intelligent people and are probably more likely to know when the other needs space even if you dont know when you personaly do.
Like pumba7 said "Go into it excited and positive", going in with a negative mind (not saying your being negative) will only make you extra sensitive to the changes. Try to flow with all the new things around you. good luck.
I think its natural to have trepidations about getting into a new environment, a new paradigm....congratulations, you're "normal". Unlike your spring break trip to Portland, where there was an expected 'end'', and you were able to return to your familiar surroundings, this move is more committed and will require some changes for you. That's scary and will create anxiety. Life changes. Sometimes for the better. You wont know this unless you give it a go. Go into it excited and positive. Good Luck

first off, you and chris are both amazing individuals and its totally
awesome you two hooked up. secondly, monogamy or non, its really
great that you know your needs beforehand (ie needing space)
and have begun strategizing a concrete plan to assure you fulfill
them.
