That's pretty cool. What's up with the harp? Is it attached to a mic or something? It's got delay and verb on it somehow... Where's the cord? Wireless? Music nerds like myself must know...
Key is Eb must have tightend the screw on the 64 to make the slide stick in C# thats a huge gadget he's got around his neck (Luke I am your father) jk i love paul
Paul is the deepest cat playing the blues, direct from the soul, harp, guitar, piano & vocals. the complete package! True one -man band! It's great to see him in a band that gets along with each other!! (I quote Paul on that last remark!)
the 280 series (16 hole chromatics) only come in key of C (unless customized to different keys). Definitely looks like a 280. The Super 64 is a different shape. I agree that the slide is probably pushed in or rigged in some way. He has it in a rounded mic running the length of the chromatic (giving it that electronic effect), but sounds as though he customized it too, or his mic has some built-in effects. It's a 4-octave instrument, as are all 16 hole Chromatics.
I saw Paul a few years back in Santa Monica Ca. He was playing on the street for tips. One of the most incredible players I have ever heard and one hell of a nice guy. BTW. he played with Muddy Waters late 60's early 70's. Paul told me he lived in Muddys basement for a while. roadrunner505
Paul has the nice big sound. I got to record a CD for him a few years back. It felt like Muddy was lookin`over us on that session. His rack harp playing sounds like it`s hand held. Pure brilliance!
It is a Hohner 64 Chromatic probably a 1970's version. He has it hooked up to a harmonica microphone which makes it look much larger/wider than it really is.
He's tough to beat. very smooth

i suspect that mic rig is either wireless or the cable is running where you can't see it.
delay.reverb probably a feature of one of those tube amps behind him.
that aside, this is huge harp tone like the old guys got with chromatic. blows yer hair back- if you have much hair at all left!

What key is it in, how may octaves on it?
JetForceF22 4 years ago
I have no idea what key... Probably C. And that looks like a 'Super, so probably 3 1/2 or 4 octaves.
GaleoDeus 4 years ago
I was looking at the 64 series, they have one in C thats 4 octaves, I wasn't sure what key it was. Thanks for the help!
