  • Anything is abusive if done excessively. You are all a bunch of Nancies.

  • 0:32 Before the text came up I had tears form in my eyes. Anyone who knows horses can see this poor creature is crying.

  • This rollkur business has NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING to do with dressage in the classical sense of the word. It's about money.....quick fixes...... getting to the top quick......... The horses pay the price. The classical masters of dressage are probably turning in their graves right now. It's disgusting !

Used to be it took eight years or more to get a horse to top levels. Not anymore, I guess.

  • I do NOT support any kind of pain being inflicted on ANY animal Period !!

Only people are capable of such action :(

  • Thank you for contributing to the Horse Revolution!

  • eehh. i think theres good and bad to rollkur. its not all bad, but not all good.

  • those PIGS look for BEAUTY!!! those people shouldnt do that!!!! its SO MEAN!!!! they do it to have MONEY!!! I HATE THOSE!!!! i though people love horses for what they are!!!! not HOW THEY MAKE THEM!!!! UGH!!!!! I WANNA PUNISH EVERYONE FOR THIS!!!! like FOR LIFE TO 1st PLACE PRISON!

  • That brought tears to my eyes. I'm so sick of this rollkur and I just wish people would quit using the method. I BLAME ANKY BY THE WAY!!!! I guess when you get to that high of a level you just dont care about your horse anymore. sad sad stuff :-(

  • I apologize for my ignorance but I dont exactly understand how rollkur harms the horse, I do know that is causes excess bone growth at the base of the skull and causes discomfort, and from the blue tongue I would guess it makes it very hard for the poor horse to breath properly. Although the arching of the neck is pretty, I am not sure how it harms. ALSO, why doesnt he just straighten out his neck if the arching hurts him? Or are those secondary reigns attached to the saddle somewhere?

  • you are right about the bone growth and the bluetongue video is a definite example of harm. Much stress is placed upon the nuchal ligament also causing pain there are numerous factors but also there is HUGE psycholgoical stresses as the horse is placed in a vulnerable position and cannot get out due to mental and physical supression. its really hard to try and explain it in such few words but i hope this has outlined it

  • @Passion4Equus Err, the official vet inquiry into hyper-flexing found no indication of harm what so ever. This video had a ton of examples of horrible dressage and really poor riders using hyperflexion. I fail to see what this proves. I could just as easily pull up video of people with their horses hollow with their heads in the sky.

This video is sensationalism at its worst. The horse with the blue tongue? Its rider was likely on the curb excessively.

  • @109367 And just turn on your imagination and laws of physics, HOW can the horse straighten the neck with that FIXED EXTREME SHORTNESS OF REINS. ???

First of all rollkur and ANY neck flexion with reins is based on pain force and how fast the horse will give up and will choose to smash its neck from inside or to continue feeling EXTREME nerve pain in jaws, palate and tongue.

  • @109367 To straighten the neck horse needs the neck muscles to make that effort. In rollkur or any other forced (and maintained by the reins) flexion muscles are TOTALLY BLOCKED from normal work in any extention....

If horses just could scream when they are in pain, everyone will be already DEAF....

  • Rolkur and hyperflexion banned, LDR (low deep round) allowed. Rollkur = LDR

  • This video is so well done, the music goes really well.

I also agree with elmayco, the horse at 30 seconds looks like he's dying inside.. =[

I hate what humans are doing to these magnificent creatures, treating them as machines... They can purposely use this method and completely break their spirit -- all you have to do is look in their eyes and see they are not happy. All this for a mere prize?

    Rant over =/

  • Brill video, the horse at around 30 seconds looks like it's dying inside, what sad eyes.

  • How any dressage rider can be so idiotic to support rollkur is beyond me....

  • my friends horsey has a naturally blueish colored tongue =3 its funny.

  • ECOEURANT!!! Je vois des bouchers mais aucun cavalier!!!!

  • Thus Is One Carl Hesters Website (:

  • this is on carl hesters website???

  • @Passion4Equus

Yeah Sorry My Typing Went Spazzy (:

  • beautiful video. i totally agree. classic dressage is beautiful, when ridden on or slightly above the vertical. but there's no beauty or grace in rollkur, the horse can't move with freedom with its head pinned to its chest. :(

  • Beautiful video. I don't understand how we even need to have a petition to stop this, it should never have been allowed to have even begun in the first place. It is NOT beautiful to see a horse in this frame, it is very sad.

  • this video is so beautifully done - well done. if possible, at then end you could show a real dressage rider, it would be a real contrast to the rollkur horses and would be a stunning ending :D (just a suggestion)

this is the best video i have seen on rollkur - great, clear clips, lovely music and good facts

    5 stars!

  • thankyou and i have shown real dressage riders theres a picture of sylvia loch showing how it should be done and a video of carl hester achieving beautiful paces without force. it does contrast the awful footage of rollkur and thanks again!!=]

  • im happy that the city i lived in tried to do something about it! (i live in copenhagen).

I don't get that people ride this way, and how the y get so far in the dressagde world. it looks horrible, and as you pointed out, if it doesn't harm, why is the tongue blue then?

    great video 5 stars + fave :3

  • thankyou and i dont know how they get so far either!

  • this is one of the best videos i have seen regarding this issue. The FEI are going in the right direction here, I saw Anky working in at the Europeans at Windsor and Salinero was so stiff through his hindquarters. The whole purpose of dressage was to prepare war horses. If the hindquarters aren't engaged, then where is the power? The eventers don't seem to train using rollkur, and i think this is because the horse would have no power in the jumping phases and would have difficulty jumping. 5*

  • exactly i agree totally and thank you =]

  • this is a good video... to tell the people out there on whom forces the horse to collect... but most of the time dressage is used with soft bits and usally legs no hands.. but there is alot of times where people use force.

  • @equestriangurl3 thank you it is definitley very contradictive to classical riding from leg to hand people have gotten lazy and are riding from pure force from the hands. The FEI need to realise that it is classically incorrect and so should not be rewarded but disciplined.
