Sonic's Recovery and Homing hovering/Homing stall

As long as Sonic is near a area of land, he can home attack stall continously, even if the opponent is super far from you, it will still work.

Sometimes I have problem Stalling, Sometimes it targets downward and sometimes goes to an opposite direction where my opponent can hit me.

Any Advice?

so wait...as long as sonic makes contact...he can keep homing, rogardless of what he hits?
