Aside from that, I think it's a totally legitimate point to ask: How would YOU feel if you were kept in a cage, and made to do tricks just for your bread & water & shelter? It's a totally legitimate question. How would it feel? How would the quality of your life be? Human Rights? What for? If we can make money of humans doing tricks, let's go back to it!
I was raised in a time when it wasn't questioned much, publicly, and it took me more closely nowadays, I really think we humans are a lot less "advanced" than we think we are. And I don't think this behaviour enhances our survival chances... the more we fool ourselves into thinking the earth & the animals are there for our plundering & amusement, the worse off we'll be.
Yes, definitely zoos & SeaWorld-type places are cruel. If SeaWorld cared so much about the animals, they'd work towards saving them out in the wild.
I'm sure everyone that works there has a love for the animals, but if you believe the rep's argument then, obviously, to save the whales, we should capture ALL the killer whales --- & throw 'em in the tank, breed 'em, train 'em to do silly tricks. ...I'm sure slave owners used to put forth a similar argument ("They're much better off this way.").
