Kiri is a great Elvira...I loved her in this film and her potrayal is noble and not comic...this scene with her in that ghostly white costume is gorgeous...vocally though I like a fiery Elvira with more dramatic heft like that of Maria Ewing, but this movie was absolutely perfect...I love it..

actually the singing was prerecorded so shes just lipsynching as she walks, only the recits were done on location

Only Kiri could pull this off. She looks absolutely beautiful. Most other opera singers would look rediculous in this outfit. Her singing and personality are timeless and will be appreciated a long time into the future.

Dame Kiri's Donna Elvira is one in a million. This film captures her in her absolute prime. There is a telecast from her Paris performances from 1975 but to my knowledge no one has- it would be great if we could see it and make some comparisons. She had a more mezzo voice in the mid-70s compared to later years.
