As the commentator says at the start of her performance, success isn't always measured in gold. For those who complained that skating to this song implied that she thought she would win, LISTEN to the words! The song is about remembering those we love, and as I will always remember Michelle and this performance, I think it was a perfect choice. Even without the jumps, what an lyrical, elegant skater!

Almost 8 years later and this is still so beautiful! It was so heartbreaking that she didn't win, but in the end it doesn't really matter. As great as both Tara and Sarah were, they have largely been forgotten. Michelle hasn't, and won't be.  She is still considered by many as one of the greatest skaters ever. That is better then an olympic gold medal. Miss you Michelle!

MK is known--and will continue to be know as one of the greatest F-skaters, despite the disapproval of certain persons. We may forget certain olympic gold medalist, but MK will not be forgotten, she has given a lot more then Gold medalist have. I will be selfish. I am glad she lost the gold medal the first time, because she may haved retired. Losing kept her ambitions alive, and She has a legacy because of it. Her legacy is far greater then an olympic gold medal...Thanks for all the memories.

It's sad that you have to resent Michelle and her skating so much so that you can't see the beauty. Maybe she isn't the most flexible like Sasha or have the height on her jumps like Irina, but she has more heart than them all. Her skating is so enjoyable, I could care less about the results.

If you have a problem with results, blame judging, not Michelle. Or blame Sasha for not ever having two clean programs in a Worlds, Nationals, or Olympics.

Oh, but I DO see the beauty when there is any...and as far as blaming the judges a person with any honor would admit that some of her 6's were ridiculous. And SHE petitioned onto the '06 team and then she BLAMED the committee for sending her...this is why I resent her so very much! Sasha is another story..if you listen very carefully to comments on #Kwan's# videos you will hear 'she rarely completes two clean programs...but being held up is very very helpful in winning titles!

Michelle's parents made great sacrifices so she and her sister can skate, and I think she of all people would appreciate that, hardly what I'd call entitled. She's also been extremely gracious when she hasn't won, and she's lasted longer than almost any of her competitors (her and Irina Slutskaya are icons of the sport). A lot of parents made sacrifices and their children have trained very hard..Kwan was actually injured trying to bring her programs up to speed..once she realized that the new scoring system wouldn't allow for favortism! Other athletes trained much harder...and even Michelle's coach warned her...she thought the '98 Gold was hers because she's Kwan and didn't bother to try to up her levels even knowing Tara's ability!

MK's Fields of Gold I watched on youtube in March 2007 made me love michelle and figure skating. Since then I've visited MKForum often. I haven't seen threads or posts bashing Tara or Sarah or other skaters. Michelle's fans have a lot of confidences in michelle to be one of the greatest skaters of all time, they don't need to do that trash thing. And most of MK's fans like Yuna Kim too because Yuna mentioned michelle very positive.
