Check out all of Satriani's vocal music, it sounds like Chickenfoot. This video sounds like a subtle threat from Sammy to Joe. Sammy wants his demands met or he will leave the band for VH when the opportunity comes.

You hear different things from all parties, one fact : Sammy Hagar towards the end of his time with VH had chronic acute sustained flatulence, he would bottom burp everywhere and it was incredibly embarrassing for rest of the band. A few times they could take it as a joke, but constantly or very frequently it soon got beyond a joke and annoying. Worse Hagar would laugh about it and shout 'there she blows' after doing a violent sustained bottom burp. Just very immature behavior.
I love the new Van Halen...but I do hope they make another record with Sammy too. I love em both. If you stopped listening to van halen because of sammy...you don't like music much. You just love a brand name and won't accept it without dave. 4 great records with sammy can't be denied.

EVH has pushed anyone with equal (or greater) talent away (except for his brother). VH had to tap Wolfy to play bass, that has to tell you something. @NORDSTRAND83 Hagar is indeed quite a singer. However, Eddie changed is sound and the style of music the group played by that point was not something my ears desired. In my opinion, there is a synergy that Roth had with the Van Halen's that has yet to be surpassed with other lead singers employed.

Sorry sainteal, the new VH album kills Chickenfoot. I mean satch can rip some pretty bad ass elevator music. But VH is the real deal when it comes to songwriting, playing with feel and excitement in a signature way all his own.
The new Van Halen album definitely proves without a doubt how much Eddie buries Satch as a guitarist. Satch sounds like a zillion other indistinguishable hard rock/metal guitar players from the 80's who were trying to copy Van Halen. You could have grabbed any metal guitarist from a bar band and basically got the same results that Satch delivered. He's great doing his own thing, but it's definitely not his thing to be a very memorable lead guitar style in a rock band. Should have got Slash!

While I agree they are going to get back with Sammy if anything just a tour with Sammy for the Sammy fans (which I like both honestly) but idk I didn't like Chickenfoot. For the caliber of musicians in the band the songs kinda sucked. The playing was great but the overrall songs were weak.
I don't know when this interview took place, but since Dave has gotten back together with the band, I don't see Hagar returning, at all. In 1986, when Dave left,the band, they lost a lot of fans;it wasn't Van Halen anylonger back then, and while I am glad to see the three original members back together, it's not Van Halen now. Van Halen is and always will be Dave, Eddie, Michael, and Alex, and no one else.
As far as music goes, 4 of the top 5 selling Van Halen albums were with Roth. 1984 sold more in it's first year than 5150 sold in 8 years. Van Halen has two albums that sold over 10 million - both with Roth. They grossed twice as much money with Roth in 2007 than with Spammy in 2004. They also have sold twice as many albums with Roth. Van Halen grossed more in one night with Roth in 2007 than Chickenfoot did their *entire* tour. DLR wins over Spammy in every single category.

@ebayisajoke He did a LOT in Montrose Jump and he also had one HECK of a great solo career and was always great in solo concerts. I agree Chicken Foot is not his best band, I like what he did in VH. He kept VH alive when few others could. I still like Dave better but he has kind of aged and his lines are always the same. I think he thinks its the best because how he gets on with the other fellas in CF. When you've done all he's done, little things like just getting along make it the best.

I always thought VH was a highly over-rated commercial band. I did not mind them too much with Sammy though... Sammy rocks (& he seems like an easy going kinda guy). I love VH...both eras of the band sure gave us lots of good rock n roll songs, but Sammy was the better singer, especially live and the Balance and FUCK tour shows I went to had some of the best sounding concerts I have ever been to(besides Scorpions). Having said that, Mike and Sammy are welcome to my house anyday for a few beers and a BBQ...Ed and Al can fuck off.
VH toured "the world" on the 2007-08 reunion tour?? I never made it to any of those shows...but friends of mine did. They told me they were so happy and excited to go see DLR back in VH, but after those shows the excitement wore off, they weren't so sure. Here's why....having Dave come back is like you were married for years, the marriage sours bad and you split. Then some years later, you hook up with your spouse thinking it can work again only to find out you were just horny that weekend..lol

VH Inc has treated Mike poorly & yet Mike keeps coming out on top. He has proven that he does not need EVH to be successful in the music business. Mike & Sammy are legit and their careers don't depend upon EVH which due to his notoriously huge ego & being extremely difficult to work with, is probably a good thing
Chickenfoot is a super great band....excellent show on their 1st tour and a great new album and tour geared up! I don't think Sammy is arrogant. I think he is just confident and has certainly shown the ability to create and entertain way beyond what Eddie has done over the years.
Well they sure won't be callin' ya on November 30th when they announce the 2012 tour and the release date for the new album on the Grammys Nomination Concert in L.A.!

The new Van Halen album definitely proves without a doubt how much Eddie buries Satch as a guitarist. Satch sounds like a zillion other indistinguishable hard rock/metal guitar players from the 80's who were trying to copy Van Halen. You could have grabbed any metal guitarist from a bar band and basically got the same results that Satch delivered. He's great doing his own thing, but it's definitely not his thing to be a very memorable lead guitar style in a rock band. Should have got Slash!

I don't know when this interview took place, but since Dave has gotten back together with the band, I don't see Hagar returning, at all. In 1986, when Dave left,the band, they lost a lot of fans;it wasn't Van Halen anylonger back then, and while I am glad to see the three original members back together, it's not Van Halen now. Van Halen is and always will be Dave, Eddie, Michael, and Alex, and no one else.

As far as music goes, 4 of the top 5 selling Van Halen albums were with Roth. 1984 sold more in it's first year than 5150 sold in 8 years. Van Halen has two albums that sold over 10 million - both with Roth. They grossed twice as much money with Roth in 2007 than with Spammy in 2004. They also have sold twice as many albums with Roth. Van Halen grossed more in one night with Roth in 2007 than Chickenfoot did their *entire* tour. DLR wins over Spammy in every single category.

He kept VH alive when few others could. I still like Dave better but he has kind of aged and his lines are always the same. I think he thinks its the best because how he gets on with the other fellas in CF. When you've done all he's done, little things like just getting along make it the best.

I saw their show live and Dave ruined it because he was drop-dead drunk, slurring words, singing the wrong vocal lines, drinking onstage and making a point that everyone saw it, BUT when they were good, few bands could touch them. I like Sammy AND Dave and to ME, VH without Michael is no longer VH.

VH toured "the world" on the 2007-08 reunion tour?? I never made it to any of those shows...but friends of mine did. They told me they were so happy and excited to go see DLR back in VH, but after those shows the excitement wore off, they weren't so sure. Here's why....having Dave come back is like you were married for years, the marriage sours bad and you split. Then some years later, you hook up with your spouse thinking it can work again only to find out you were just horny that weekend..lol

Van Halen is better off with diamond Dave. Sammy Hagar is better solo. I'd love to see Van Halen before they hang it up.

@bobdoghuh VH doing great with Roth? You cant be serious. The "reunion tour" was some of the worst performances VH has ever done. There are a few concerns that were painfully embarassing. Wolfgang is not the bass player that Anthony is, & it came through on nearly every performance. The bands backing vox without MA suck
EVH & Alex cant blame their lead singers on Dave & Hagar. In total they really have had four singers "leave the band". The VH bros & management are the root problem

@Voodoochile316 - except that he continues to go out there and walk the talk, and rock the rock. Eddie sits in his 5150 studios, producing nothing new. What Sammy is doing with Chickenfoot is way cooler than the maestro sitting on his hands for 14 years with no new material.

@steve51704000 True, but what makes Chickenfoot cool is not Sammy Hagar. Rock will not look back at Hagar's lyrics, look or image with any kind of reverence. He seems like a nice guy who loves what he does, but he just comes across as someone who's seen Spinal Tap and not understood any of the irony

@steve51704000 Mike had a tough role to play. He was given some narrow parameters regarding what he could do with his bass parts so that Ed had freedom to do what ever he wanted.
VH Inc has treated Mike poorly & yet Mike keeps coming out on top. He has proven that he does not need EVH to be successful in the music business. Mike & Sammy are legit and their careers don't depend upon EVH which due to his notoriously huge ego & being extremely difficult to work with, is probably a good thing

@steve51704000 It's not just Mike as a bassist. Mike was an irreplaceable talent in VH. His high BVs were one of the reasons that made them Great.

Chickenfoot is a super great band....excellent show on their 1st tour and a great new album and tour geared up! I don't think Sammy is arrogant. I think he is just confident and has certainly shown the ability to create and entertain way beyond what Eddie has done over the years.

are you guys serious? the VH brothers treated Mike as a "guest". They're coming out now advertising the "original" line up is back, with Wolfie that wasn't even born in the "original" days. Both VH and Chickenfoot were in the studio making a new record, the Chickenfoot one is out, they are touring, they are happy. All I get from VH is rumours !
To me, 1995 (Balance) is the best they've ever been and it's frustrating to know the last 16 years have been wasted. I hope for a reunion with Sammy
