In the book, she got her dress from a charity shop, and it was meant to have stars on it, and it was her magic "witch" dress, and in school when people make her angry, she imagines she's casting a spell on them, that's why you see the cuts in the film of goo falling on the girl's head and stuff (:

It was £39.00 but around £50 with VAT because its made for schools.

Also Marigold reminds me of a cross between this friend and another who I know from the same place. The other is kinda tomboyish and raunchy like Marigold (but without her intensity) and frequently drinks excessively, but has a fun-loving, laid-back, carefree disposition and is seldom worried or emotional about anything – being drunk just makes her cheeky and mischievous, not distressed.

I got muddled thinking the outrageous over-spending paint scene was set at cash n' carriers, maybe because I was there a few weeks ago to help a friend of mine, and I got scared thinking she was going to worsen her injuries by trying to lift huge heavy paint tins from high shelves and she refused to let me carry them, probably because I’m very underweight. Then I realised the trolleys in the film were just ordinary ones, not cash n’ carriers.

The first is older, married and always so busy that she rarely wastes her time on booze and raunchiness, but being very neurotic and emotional is naturally part of her character and she talks very quickly and to herself like me, and can be a bit loud and dramatic sometimes, quite fierce and very doting (with more warmth than Marigold). We’re both overprotective of each other! They’re fine but a cross between the two of them blended into one person might struggle something chronic.

in the book he was just a popular guy but he only treated stella as a hot girl to have under the arm and take advantage of. she liked to act cute and inferior around him, he'd buy her mcdonalds and feed her like a puppy

also stella has become a daddy's girl. she didn't want the boyfriend's attention anymore, she wanted her dad to see her as his innocent little girl, so she liked to play a little baby around him. maybe it's because she missed out that part in her life before
