@Salemaniac1 Though Hooker Chemical did nothing illegal, because at the time it was legal to dump chemicals carelessly, once the chemicals erupted to the surface and people were getting ill and were displaced from their homes they did have a MORAL obligation to do something about it. I do however feel that the Niagara Falls School Board who thought it was a great idea to build there should have gone in front of a firing squad or been forced to live in the abandoned homes.
@laughingmyassoff1414 Hooker warned again and again not to mess with the site. They even sued to stop the sale of the property, but the school board won. Had the site not been disturbed, it would have stayed put and been safe. If you want to blame anyone, blame the government.
@christo930 Blame the government? Jeez dude. When you get down to it, it was both the fault of Hooker Chemical Company AND the school board. The chemicals would have eventually seeped out whether the site were disturbed or not. Even worse, perhaps the seepage into the nearby water system would not have been discovered until serious damage were done.
@texasaggie2012 What evidence do you have that the site would have leaked had it not been disturbed by all the heavy equipment and development on the property? Hooker warned again and again and even sued to stop the sale, the employees of Hooker lived in the same area and had a self interest of keeping the site in good condition and undisturbed, the school board knew what was under that grass and they did it anyway. It was the gov's fault.
I grew here back in 1975. Unlike the other people, my mutations sort of worked in my favor. I have a 3rd eyeball in the back of my head which enables me to see what is going on behind me. I also have an attenae that grows out my head that enables me to pick up radio signals. And I have a nice glow to my skin, which enables me to walk around at night without the need for a flashlight.
@TheWinkBoss Hooker did absolutely nothing wrong. They were using a legal dump for its legal purpose. It was the school board that despite all warnings from Hooker, built a school. Its a disgrace that the school board got away with murder - literally!
@Salemaniac1 I think Hooker was wrong in "selling" (more like getting it off their hands) the property to the school board. They knew the dangers that it would pose, and they still gave the property away. Both Hooker and the school board are to blame for this.
@Estragon17 yeah its horrible.its not clear and its skipping.lol i feel like im back in elementry school watching old movies that were on there way out then shortly they used vcrs lol/
@astaroth333777: I live in Louisiana, I appreciate you pointing that out. There are HUGE globs of gooey junk rolling up on the beaches of Louisiana. There is a big thing in the media here right now saying they are "testing it to see if it was from the leaking well in the gulf." AS IF IT COULD BE FROM ANYWHERE FRIGGIN ELSE!!!! What you said is very true! Thank you friend.

the entire wny area has unusually high cancer rates, thanks to Love Canal...those creeks run into the Niagara River, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. No coincidence
Now Republicans want to abolish the EPA. From history we learn that we do not learn!
