@basakwards Its a coaxial rotor helicopter. It has no tail rotor so you will need to have your main rotors loaded to get good control. Jerk it off the ground and get the full weight of the craft on the rotors and your control improves. Different rotor design requires different technique. Not a bad habit, just a different habit for a different design.
Frustrating takeoff or not, that is the way these experienced KA-26 pilots do it and I suspect they are well trained and very experienced. I'm frustrated that I don't have one of these coaxials to fly!
