  • Thinking of stepping up to an SS Bike, from an ER-6N.

Finally found someone that thinks about SS bikes & there Engine Size, exactly the way I do.

    Now I'm completely certain I'll be grabbing a 750.

Thanks Alot, Great Video, Greatly Appreciated!

  • I effing want that K8. Looks so nice and seems to ride really well.

  • Comment removed

  • i really wanted to know the power differences between all the bikes!

  • true ahmadosama but relatively it is old but bikes surpassed rider skills decades ago when the first 900 fireblade or modern gsxr750 with the really good frames came along.

  • what is the difference between the k6 and k7? both of the bikes doesn't have engine breaking?

  • it would be nice if I could actually hear the guy talking, when he does.

  • that v2 allways sounds killer. Would be enough to convince me :)

  • this guy sounds like he has water in his mouth.

  • The ducati kinda sounds like my postie. But is so beautiful

  • I LOVE MY GIXXXER 750

  • gixxer any day.

  • The guy speaks to softly have no idea what he said...Next time open your mouth and speak up so we know what your saying and I will turn up my hearing aid...Cheers

  • Sometimes I think a change in fitness and mind set do more good than just throwing money at it. You can't buy a bad sportsbike nowadays.

  • 954RR

still kicks r1 gsxr & new cbr.

    R/pect k636 with good rider.

  • read the below the other way round, bottom one first

  • As for the K6 750, my road bike, great bike! Made a few changes to it and had it power commanded and set up...kicking out 132.4bhp (rear wheel) and it keeps up with quick 1000 riders on the road. I have an R6 race bike which i also rate to be a fantastic bike on the track....

I reckon however, that this new ZX10r 2011 bike sounds fantastic, but for the money they want for them, i reckon you'll be able to pick a half decent one in 2012 at a fraction of the price!

  • My short hand Neevesy update...

Rode an 848 and 1198 a few weeks a go. If you're into torquey bikes, then they are a decent buy, however not good enough for me in my opinion on the road. Same goes with the KTM RC8R which i had a blast of about 3 months a go. Its an awful lot of wedge for the fun you can have on the road, but im sure it'll make a decent bike on the track.

  • I'm gonna have the same problem in a couple of years, good vid.

    I heard the 2011 GSXR750 was 190kg, just ~6 kg more than the 600.

The litre bike market is heating up again, with the BMW and now the ZX10R with 209 HP.

  • GSXR 750 K6 for life! :) i love mine

  • thumbs up for that zx10

  • Couldnt hear old mate's opinion on 848 :(

  • I also have a k5 750 and have raced a k6 and he cant beat me on top end or low end. It is a prettier bike but not enough to trade up for unless the cost was next to nothing. A ZX10 is a big step when talking 1000cc's he should have rode a CBR or R1 because they dont have the power. As for me I am trading up to the ZX10, BMW, or maybe a Busa for the stability, not another 750. The 750 is perfectly comfortable for me and I am 6'3" even after a 3 hr. ride. I may just keep the 750 and get a 1000.

  • Fairly decent review compared to the other crappy videos both magazines seem to put out which consist of nothing but ride shots and "ermhs" and "ahhhs" while trying to exhaust some personal opinion and offering to real advice or numbers. Just one thing you kind of skipped on, how exactly the K8 more refined? More specifics please

  • Got the same problem. Only then i am doubting between a K7 or a k8. k7 yoshimura edition with powercommander or a k8, just because it's shiny (doubting about the matt on the black k7 (yes, i want a black one))

  • K5 750 is better, has the same power and more torque and is lighter. I have a k5 750 bought it brand new, it was my first road bike awesome handling and hauls arse.

I raced my mates k7 750 to 0-250 i beat him by 3-4 bike lengths. I am happy I didn't go for the 600 the 750 is such a well balanced bike for the road. Its a giant killer on the street i beat larger more powerful bikes all the time especially in the mountains.

  • @ozgixxer750 I have a K3 750 and as I'm getting more used to it, I'm wanting to drop a tooth on the front sprocket to get a bit more torque. I understand the "optimum" gearing is -2F / +3R (same ratio as -1F, but engine will respond better). Do you think -1F is my best option to get better torque response? Also considering a power commander, won't require speedo healing too. Any tips n tricks I'm not aware of?

  • @morgazmo99 -2F / +3R is the same as -3F since +3R is about equal to -1F. -2F/ -3R is about the same as -1F.

  • @morgazmo99 Hey mate, if u want to do it go -1f its makes it accelerate harder especially if your a heaver rider plus is you only change 1 tooth on the front sprocket you wont have to get a longer chain. Only problem is riding on the open road its going rev about 2grand higher at 100km/h plus it reduces top speed by about 30k's. i'm 80kg and i chose to stick with the standard gearing because i didn't want it revving any higher on the highway.

  • he looks like a freakin power ranger... hahahaha

  • mirarloooo:BMX CREADO POR JIMMY23792

  • new to bikes, so help me out....why is it that a 600cc is too hard to live with? and when he says too revy does he mean that in order to get anywhere on the bike u have to get the bikes rpm way up there, even for city driving??

  • @ACDC88

dude 600 is fine, listening to these vids are fine, but you gotta make your own opinion after while...when these guys speak, there talkin about on a racetrack....ya on the track u gotta keep 600's above 10k......on the street tho, u rarely need to go over 10k, unless your on the freeway, or abandoned road and jus wana open up the throttle for fun....believe me, you'll be fine startin out wit 600cc bike.....

  • @bgai3 ive got a gsxr 750 y (same as the k1) was out on it today, just pgot new dunlop qualifiyer tyers, d209s , my bike is 10 years old with 29000 miles , but it wouls still keep up with these newer bikes, and as for not useing over 10k on the road! you need to be in over 7k to start getting the power! between 8 and 12 k is where you want to be, get use to running at that , these bikes were made to reve!

  • Comment removed

  • @ACDC88 look at the tacho, if it redlines in double figures then the peak power is gonna be much higher in the revs than most other bikes. dont get a sports bike for your first bike, try a hornet or monster.

  • Had the '08 Fireblade been a choice in this vid, it woulda been hands-down the way to go!

  • So the guy played MCN... He got to test ride all the badass bikes and didn't buy nothin. LOL

  • great vid guys

  • Craig can ride : )

  • the 600cc and above bikes can run forever, nobody cares about the 5bhp increment between 2002 model and 2010 model for a £2000+ price difference. After 600cc the bikes really dont change much just the fairings.

Enjoy the bikes for what u buy them for: RIDING FREE :)

  • is it illegal to ride that bike without wearing those fancy suit?

  • @roniepao no. you can ride wearing anything you want.

  • @peavyt15 but you must wear a helmet by law...and you're an idiot if you don't wear gloves, boots and at least a decent jacket

  • @blindingsun where I live there is no helmet law. the only law is that you have to have eye protection.

  • @peavyt15 then no offence but your government are a bunch of fucking retards mate.

  • @blindingsun in america it is a state by state law. most of the states do require one but Indiana does not.

  • @peavyt15 oh so it's just Indiana state that is retarded. I see.

  • @blindingsun there are a few others but I am not sure where and yes, they are pretty stupid.

  • @blindingsun to clarify, I always wear a helmet and gloves and jacket but it isnt required here.

  • YEA YOUR A KNOB !! YOU WONT GET INSURED

  • yeah get some good life insurance coz u aint got long left

  • @pbmax great, please post a note here when you made your first corner!

  • I'm sure you're joking.

  • Great review guys... I'm tossing up on which 750 to get so it made it a little easier :)

  • My 600 srad was getting a bit tired so we put a 750 lump i and gave it a new lease of life! put in meltedsliders and see!

    harry o...

  • i have a 98 super blakbird... looks and sound like a brand new one....

  • 2 years is definitely not old enough for me to upgrade my bike. I mean I ride a 1987 hurricane and still have fun on it.

  • why dont theyput the 675 in the mix? its got simillar bhp and stats as the 750

  • 3 years old is not that old

  • His K6 is "getting a little bit old"?!!! That bike can run forever until petrol is no longer sold in gas stations! I have a 1998 Fireblade and it will survive decades to come.

  • seriously haha, and his bike is only 3 years old haha which is 3 years young to me.

  • @ahmadosama when he said "getting a little bit old" I thought thats still new to me. I am still riding my 97 GSXR750 with nearly 70k on it; now that's a little old.

  • @ahmadosama

my brother has a 20 year old kwaki zxr 750 which still flies like a bat out of hell and handles amazingly

  • why would someone choose a 750 above 1000 ??

  • riding a 1000 every single day to work and back may be alittle much. there not quite as flickable.

the 750 is commonly known as a good space between each worlds

  • do ppl really buy a gsxr750 to go to work ? i mean, within city a Kawasaki Ninja 250cc will do the job much better than both 750 or 1000 cc gixxers.... these are difficult to ride within city. Torque comes at so high rpm that they are virtually useless in city.

  • on the contrary, torque comes from just about any rpm on the 750 and any 1000.

  • i used it for going to work

  • Yeah... its fun to brag about more power but really, the 250cc is really all 97% of all riders need. Its one of the most efficient bikes and they can look sporty too.

  • handling like 600cc and power near 1000cc

  • Get your test done..

any 600 bike will be so much better than a 125/

I passed my test not long ago and ride a Suzuki 650s and its so much better than my old YBR 125!

  • This video makes me love my k6 gixxer 750 about a thousand times more now.

  • craig your lucky

  • what the fuck 9000 out here they are about 25 to 35000..i think im going to import my next bike..

  • give me that ducati torque!

  • mcn is much better than motorcycle usa who agrees

  • @pranslam77 I concur.

  • @pranslam77 lolz why? because u are a nationalistic pig? an and American hater?

  • @lynette1953 No, he probably just hates the god awful reviews from Motocycle USA.

  • @pranslam77 definitely!

  • @pranslam77 If it wasnt for USA asshole there would be no MCN you jackass Also you would be speaking german:(

  • @MrRandy1971 well then I guess im also a nazi becouse I prefer BMW to Saturn.

  • @Chomiczynkaaa Ride your powersucker Gaybeew

  • I bought a K7 750 and it is most definitely not a good bike for "long distance riding" and "big tours in the summer". If that's what you're looking for save yourself the time and money and cross off all 5 of these bikes from your list.

    K1200S, VFR, Sprint ST

    Those are your choices

  • I have the K9 and I do 50kms on it everyday , the bike is a dream to ride being a sportsbike they will never be extremely comfortable they are made for extreme tuck in speeds not for commuting...p.s I also had a 05 zx10r and that was a tank slapper compared to the gsxr750..

  • 50 kms a day is like a half an hour ride. That's easy stuff. One fifteen minute commute to work, and one fifteen minute commute home.

This guy said he uses his it for big summer tours and long distance riding. So like, thousands of miles. That's fine for him. But for 99 percent of the motorcycle riding population you could find a whole bunch of other sports bikes that are better suited for long distance riding. VFR, K12S, Sprint ST, FJR, ZZR14, F800ST, ST1000, BKing, SV1000S and on and on

  • its more like 35min each way I'm talkin extreme traffic with alot of lights opposite side of the city compared to where I am and yeah there are other bikes i could get that are better for commuting but they are all UGLY maybe when I'm 45.

  • 35 minutes eh? That's truly hardcore.

  • u obviously dont ride a sports bike otherwise u would understand what im talking about , u must be on one of those ct110 delivering my mail

  • dude, i know you're from australia and everything, but that doesn't mean you actually have to be a moron.

of the two of us, you obviously have less experience, if any, with riding sport bikes. 35 minutes. what a fucking joke. come back after you've done some real riding. then you'll understand.

  • Hey "DUDE" my mail is late "DAWG"

  • Sorry, about that, matey. You need to head down to the post office so you can sign for this case of 12" black rubber vibrating cocks that I can only assume that you've ordered for yourself.

  • Yeah I brought them as your Christmas present It was supposed to be a surprise ,I know how much u love black rubber cocks.....12" just the size u love

  • to get power out of a 600 and especially the 06-09 r6 you have to be in a high rmp range... revy.

r6 power noticeably starts at 10,000

  • what does he mean that a 600 is too revvvy?

  • No, it's revvy as in "you have to rev it". There is, by litre bike standards, very little power below 10,000 RPM. Basically, it makes for a great track bike, but a pain in the butt to live with daily since you have to change gears and rev a lot when overtaking etc.

  • you have to rev the balls of em to get the power, the new r6 redlines at 20,000 rpm!

  • you have to rev it hard otherwise there is now power

wou allways have to be in a low gear to get the power

  • ohh ok

  • hmm, i prefer high reving 4 cylinders over raspy 2 cylinder engines.

  • Yeah, and I can tell you're a straight line kinda person. You can't even touch the potential of the bikes you're talking about. Talk is big, but the truth sticks out anyway.

  • Jealous Much ???

  • Nah, look at your comment rating. It's getting what it deserves.

  • I think the R6 has a sharper acceleration than his 750, but once you've had a 750 and have handled its top end you can't really downgrade as much to a 600, can only go up if not stay the same as he is doing

  • '06 gixxer750 with s/o can and pc3...nice!

  • Tha'ts true Jurkowski HondaCBR is a way better...but its seems never seen a Honda CBR 1000RR been reviewed here in MCN?

  • Wait...so if we read MCN, we can spend an entire day riding a delicious assortment of sportbikes around on the road? I wonder if he got payed too...?

  • r6 on the road is terrible

  • Nice realistic review from a level headed road rider. I've got a K7 750 and can't imagine changing to anything else at the moment either.

  • Is it just me who think the Ducati sounds like a lawnmower?

  • its b/c there twin cam bikes, like aprilias

  • What about a Honda Interceptor? 800cc V4 it's a great bike.

  • great sure, but not the best looking. That would sort of kill it a little bit for me.

  • An excellent, honest review.

  • K4 K5 K6 K7 & K8 Gsxr-750 are all real good bikes, I'm buying a Yellow & Black K4 750

  • The R6 is in my Opinion the best 600ccm Bike now i think he is not slower as a k8 750 gixxer

  • The 2008 R6 is alright but the CBR600rr is the best overall 600cc bike

  • I dont know i dhad a 600rr and i think that the r6 is faster on track & acceleration but i know that the 600r are really beatiful to drive

  • I like the Ducati. So beautifully made and engineered, but hugely expensive and probably a pain to keep on the road. The GSXR looks unfinished and the appearance, rather quirky, which I don't like. I prefer the SRADs and before. They looked more aggressive. Suzuki aren't renowned for their quality, whereas, Ducati are built maticulously to perfection.

  • the CAT is ToP CAT

  • this was excellent. great job guys.

  • One thing though - it's quite difficult to understand what they're saying about the R6 and the ZX10R because of the background noise.

  • viva suzuki gsxr 750 k8

  • gsxr is a track focused roadbike, get a vfr.

  • sat on the ducati a couple of times. the riding position makes me think of two words: chiro-practor. the gixxer750 is a great mix of power and usability.

  • GSXR 750 rules the road! Best bike for the road!

  • that ducati sounds like its farting

  • I love the R6!

  • why do ALL motorbike videos have such shit music?!

  • because there has to be SOMETHING bad on them

  • Wish I could have been the test subject. Working all of these bikes with Neeves must have been a blast.

  • Good point. Sometimes the next or two year models are not much of an improvement over an already excellent bike.

  • Y'know the Starship trooper dude from Star Wars, in his white suit.

    I want one of those.

    And an 848.

Next bike for me is either a 675 or an 848.. Decisions! :D

  • RICO'S ROUGHNECKS!

S.T. rules. It won 4 oscars.

  • i think he meant the storm trooper from starwars

  • for fuck sake do something with the sound in your videos it sucks and i cant hear shit

  • Mike himself said you'd not go wrong buying the k4-k5 gsxr 750, and i would agree! I've ridden every model gsxr 750 since 2003, and owned or ridden every model gsxr 600, also since 2003. Every model is very similar performance wise, its only the look of the bike u need consider. The differents between my own k5 and k7 gsxr 600 is tiny! The k5 definatly had more grunt lower down and mid-range power. The k7 has more top end power. Both bikes are very even once fitted with aftermarket exhausts!!

  • The k6-k7 Gsxr 750 is far more willing to wheelie than the newer k8 Gsxr 750. Ok, wheelies arent the be all and end all of the newer model, but it is a true test or power and raw delivery! So why does the newer model appear to under-perform? I know, we get all the gadgets, but is it really what we want....

  • I've also ridden both gsxr 750 k8 & k6-k7, & found the k8 feeling much the same as previous model. The k6-k7 gsxr feels much more alive, as the fella himself said, RAW! I find most k8 bikes feel unexciting compared to the very model they replace! The full protential of k8 bikes is only realised/released after fitting performance exhaust & maybe powercommander! These bikes are choked to comply with emmissions & noise tests, also their weight has increased slightly. Keep your k6-k7 Gixer for now!

  • Nice little review.7 fitty all the way baby 7 fitties for ever

  • the 848 is $16500 cdn

  • The problem in Finland is the price of the Ducati.. Just bought a GSX-R 750 k6 for only 8000 € ($10700) which was a bargain. A new Ducati 848 cost here 20990 € ($28000). The prices are thanks to our old govermental system.

  • Same goes for the price of European/American bikes here in Singapore. Shops here think italian bikes are a prestige to own one, a bike to show off. A ducati 848 cost SGD$27,000++ machine price, which can get you an R1 with full-sys exhaust, PC3, hugger, sliders and some trick stuff.

On the other hand, race suits here are cheap. Price range anything from SGD400++/500++(RJAYS/GPR/SRS) to SGD1000++(Alpinestar/Dainese/Spidi etc)

Just sold my K5, gonna settle for either 09 kawa or 09 GSXR

  • Finland: 20,990 € = SGD$42,400

    Singapore: SGD$27,000 = 13,400 €.

I would buy that bike today for the singaporean price. :)

I don´t get it why the bike costs so mutch more in Finland althought it is not that far from Italy. The price is nearly twice compaired even to Singapore.

    BTW:

I tried to look for a racing suit from everywhere in singapore because I heard those are cheap there(I studied there for 1 year). Where are the shops that sell the suits?

  • The shops are found around the city area, near "Little India". If you want to get those suits, it's best to get the locals to bargain for you. You'll get a better deal.

Search "Singapore+kelantan lane" in google maps for location. The whole area is lined with shops selling bike stuffs.

**BTW, A brand new GSXR or CBR costs SGD$17,000-$18,000++. If you're ever here to Singapore again, let me know.I can show you around the place and meet the local track junkies here. Nice ppl.

  • Thanks! I really loved the Pasir Gudang circuit. It is like a mix of two of my favourite racing circuits in Finland. I envy you coz you have 12 months riding season. Here it is -18´c outside. No riding for 4 months more. Then I will hit the tracks immediately! :)

  • I can top that! I live in Denmark and the cost of a 848 here is a staggering 34900€!!! I would love to live in Finland with those low prices!

  • I bet you guys have the worst prices in the world!! I highly recommend importing yourself, pay the tax and save a big buck!

  • Guess they have the second worst prices...

Here in brazil, damn. It's getting better, but still abusive. In 2005 i remember a friend paying R$85.000 for a R1, today you can have one for 58.000.

But, if we convert from dollars, around 12 thousand for a 08 R1, it should cost about R$25.000... All the remaining payed is for government taxes and all the importation stuff. Anyway, half the price is not related to the bike... =(

  • I said that about official importation.

If you import by yourself, you will have to pay many expensive taxes to have it here. Govern created them to avoid self importation and improve national consume...

  • well here in Panama the average cost of Japanese bike is $13,000 max I thought it was to much

  • I still ride my K5 750 (2005 GSX-R750) I do trackdays w/ it, it's paid for so I can't see making payments on a new bike while this one works great & the money I save I use on tires for the trackdays!!!!

  • What I can't really live with is the way the K8 muffler looks. It's seems like something from a Japanese anime. The other thing motorcycle magazines never mention. Is which one will be the cheapist to maintain. The Ducati might have the best specs on paper. But just wait till you get it serviced. They should include this in the pricing, as actual costs.

  • i have an r6 and i personally kinda regretted it.

    shud have gone for kate(k8).

    lol

  • go get the k8...like me :)...confy, reliable, chaper even than 600's...

  • I would go for the Ducati 848 out of these two, but if I was him I would get an older Ducati 999, pick them up for cheap and is the best looking ducati, Im currently saving for a 749S as i like the look so much, would love a 999 though

  • I love McN also, In my personal opinion I would take the Duc..i have driven the 1098 and it's a hell of a machine and i don't see why the 848 would forfeit any quality or power

  • I love McN, and i hope other people do too. You guys want to pool some money together and get them a better microphone for their videos? just a thought.

  • I really hope that they set up the suspension on the bikes before making the comparison. The Duc is a much more comfortable ride after some tweaking. Factory settings are super stiff & set up for 2 up riding.

  • I'd take the Ducati just because I'm a ducaphile, but I think this guy made the right decision!

  • Nice video MCN.

Its a tangent but I cannot believe how much Brits are paying for these bikes over US prices. Perhaps MCN could do an expose to try and shame the manufactures/dealers in to lowering prices? At 9000 GBP the GSX750 is around 3000 GBP (at 1.75 to the dollar) more expensive in the UK then here in California.

  • Same as in Australia. Its more to do with number of bikes sold. More bikes are sold in the US therefore prices are cheaper. But that also means you lose out with the warranties. Here in Oz we get 3 years unlimited Kms that covers pretty much every single part.
