Someone's got way too much time on their hands. The disclaimer at the end says the footage is not shown in the order it was shot. Watch something else.
The kitchen is way too small to get every angle. Don't blame the TV shows, blame the people and TV stations that want the DRAMA. American TV is what it is. Unfortunately that's how it is :/ Everything must be dramatic or they lose interest. God forbid it's actually educational and or straight forward.
Omg omg omg what kind of conspiracy is this...bitch plz everything on tv is movie-like...so just take it or turn off that shit and stop wining or trying to pretend that you're a detective or some super smart genius !!
Another good catch from an avid TV viewer, I credit you for that.
However, I always find it disquieting when people take TV so seriously and start complaining about it being fake. Of course a lot of things are fake. This is not a security camera tape being used as evidence in court, so big deal.
Nobody comments on the background music being fake, however I doubt there is a full orchestra following everyone around in the restaurant.
And this ladies and gentlemen, is the main reason I don't watch so called "reality TV". In fact, I don't watch any TV because it's sheer idiocy 24/7. Turn it off and pick up a good book.
'They' edit programs and make Americans look like 'idiots' because we are completely ignorant. We sit back and consume everything in sight without ever thinking, 'is something out there better than this?' Is it our fault, yes and no. Our schools and parents never taught us to question, to create, to innovate anything. Adding, we just want what we want and we want it now. We buy new cars every few years, we buy big homes because we want to show off, but all we get is debt. So sad, but so true.
OMG!!! The truth is out there!!!! Who gives a shit? It's entertainment, not the news...if they fake some shit, well, they fake some shit...get over it, son...
it use to be very good..when the show first started..Ramseys kitchen nighmares was really good!, but now it is shot so that it looks like a movie..not good anymore!
Its a show about cooking..not a government conspiracy. You're acting like an idiot by posting a video which is kind of ironic considering the comment attached to the video.
Every show does this because it enhances the drama. What intrigues me is someone actually painstakingly watches an episode to find "editing" and is angry! now that my friends is rather disturbing. I shutter to think of what is going on inside the head of a person who would be so enthralled as to point this out. I feel that Therapy is in order.
Pfft, perhaps this happens more then it should, but what do you expect in a show like this? They arent gonna have cameras in the right spots all the time. And in this example, should they have two, maybe three camera guys running around in a cramped kitchen to capture the reactions? Yes, they might have tried to get more realistic responses to "sub in", but that is somewhat the fault of the editor and somewhat the fault of the show.
Yeah, the british ones are so different, Gordon does the voice over, all swearing is left intact, which is priceless and they really seem like cool documentaries, not bottom of the barrel cheap trash t.v.. That being said, I still like the american one. Just get on bittorrent and get the british ones!
Kitchen Nightmares, the UK version was an incredible program. The American version is so crap, exactly the same format every time, loads of emotional hype crap. Bring back the UK stuff!
@MilkAirsoft I've only seen the American version of the show until I got BBC and started watching the UK version......way better than the American I have to admit.
You guys suck! did you not realize that he had moved in the 3 minutes to the other side of the shot. I work with editing and camcorders and, people rarely stay still for 3 minutes, even if they stay in the same spot. When you work do you stand in the exact same place for 5 minutes?
People some times talk too much after watching both scenes and it only looks like he moved to the other side of the walkway. So there is no error in continuity, and they didn't cross the line!
Actually, there is a warning at the end of the show, in small letters, saying that the editing of the show does not correspond to the real time-line of the events.
Yes, it's a bit bad taste, but they don't hide it.
Its really sad to watch the American Kitchen Nightmares it's all drama and does not really talk to much about the cooking but drama sells...But on the other hand the British version is so much more pure and informational, they actually focus on the food! just my opinion..
To be fair, Ramsay's shows from Kitchen Nightmares to Hell's Kitchen to Master Chef are the bright side of reality television. Put aside the cussing and derogatory remarks, they promote something that is lacking in this country and in many Americans, maybe even in myself as well, which is talent and hard work. Compare that with any of the other popular "reality shows" in America from Keeping up with the Kardashian Kunts to Housewives of Whoresville, and my favorite, Jersey Shore Needs a Shower.
Another great example is the episode "Secret Garden" from season one.
An argument towards the end between ownder Michelle and Ramsay takes place at the nights dinner service... supposedly, but during the fight, you can see its completely bright outside.
Meaning the fight wasnt even during the nights critical time. And it was a MAJOR fight aswell. Have a look.
I went back and watched that scene. It wasn't light out. If you look closely, those were indoor lights from above them and shining through the glass from the other room. Those weren't windows. The fight did take place during the night service, you can see people's reactions as it was going on.
But besides the point really, it doesn't matter if the scene was filmed at a later time. They were genuinely having a real, unscripted argument.
True, however, without solid proof to back up your argument, all we can do is assume. It seems more likely that they did indeed film the shot legitimately in the natural order that the events took place, than the idea that they filmed separate shots of the argument and the reactions, and pieced them together. It is unlikely that they convinced people in the restaurant, as well as the staff to react the way they did; much like an actual fight was taking place at that moment.
I figured i didnt need solid proof because for one, you're on this video, if they can copy paste ramsay to make a better shot, they can do anything.
And arent the reactions from the people just... turning heads? how hard is that to make them do?
It doesnt quite matter either because thats just one episode and one example, i've run into so many other examples where it feels wrong and out of place.
Isn't that Kitchen Nightmares USA? Its pretty much common knowledge that compared to Nightmares UK its much more edited, sometimes (including in this case) too much so.
Wow! Is this the first time you realized there is editing in reality TV to enhance the drama!? I just assume people already know that. Btw, Santa Claus isn't real either... I just made such a bold statement.
I'm glad someone edited and posted something like this. What infuriates me the most about this show is that they constantly re-use shots of facial expressions. I think i counted at least 4 times in one episode - Ramsay having a go at someone, and they just repeated a single shot of someone gawping with their mouth open. It's obvious, distasteful and takes away anything that was vaguely creditable from the term "reality show"
@Will137 Not to mention reusing audio in a different scene, like in season 7's Hell's Kitchen, Chef Ramsay was digging through a garbage can filled with over and undercooked spaghetti and he's said "Look, Look, Look!! LOOK!!! What is that?!" and then in a scene later on in the same episode while he was looking through a whole bunch of wasted lamb he said "Look, Look, Look!! LOOK!!! What is that?!" exactly the same way he did minutes before that scene...
@Will137 No reality show is actually reality. I was once behind the scenes during a filming of a documentary for a popular travel network and it was totally scripted...the art of motion picture is manipulation regardless of what genre.
I hate how watered down the us show is. I love the uk version because it was real. I hate the constant flashbacks as if we cant remember what just freaking happened two minutes ago. I hate that every episode is more and more fighting. We dont give a fuck if someone wants to see if Ramsay has a breaking point. That isnt what the show is about. Its over produced, pretentious crap!
I saw a funny one on Kitchen Nightmares USA where the owners were being interviewed near the end about how good the outcome was....and they were sitting on the furniture that they had BEFORE the makeover bit.
they didnt edit anythin. the first part was him standing away from the oven then after he's near it. there's no superimposing he just moved. look at the first scene that brown wall is off to the left then he moved closer to the oven and the brown wall was completely behind him. there are REAL things left in this world. especially a man like chef ramsay who is one of the top chefs in the world
The real reason they did this was because of lack of coverage -- coverage is an industry term for shots of the same action from different angels. Notice there's no way a cameraman could shoot Gordon frontally without getting in the shot of the cameraman shooting the reverse angle of him. Also, it's so crowded that he wouldn't be able to get back there without interrupting the action. The editor needed a reaction shot of Gordon that they didn't have from the original footage, so they cheated it.
@KoochiiMonstrr This show isn't "mere entertainment", though.
And yes, it is true. Only thick Americans need their "mere entertainment" to be simple, hence why Dane Cook has a career.
Other countries with advanced mental development tend to enjoy intelligent entertainment. In regards to mental ability, the US is a third world country at best. Fact.
tbh I dun think they copy pasted him to other scene, if u look next to him at beginning u can alrdy see the brown thing near him, maybe he just moved? Even if it wud be edited that's just normal, that's what media does-
From the amount of "dislikes" it's apparent that Americans are not as arrogantly ignorant as the person who posted this video. The two shots from THREE minutes apart are taken from a different angles GR was not standing at the same spot, so why would they have the same background? Just to let you know, if you pay attention to the production notes, the production team are completely different, so don't compare the two.
Who cares? Out of sequence?! Yeah, its called editing. When editing for TV, pacing is most important...that is why they had to superimpose a shot. There is no camera in front of Gordon, but the editor wants the audience to feel like they can see Gordon's facial reaction. Its not his real reaction at that moment, but its probably pretty close. They also needed an editing point for the sound effect to keep with the rhythm of the show and make the audience say "Wow, what is Gordon going to do?"
But WHAY MAKE FAKE REALITY SHOWS. They are not reality nothing on TV is reality. and when the show you a live broadcast thast not even true their are no live people running around in your tv. FFs grow a brain . Dont watch TV. Especially FOX.
So to sum up, this was just done purely "for effect", some executive or maybe even director wanted to intensify his presence, by blocking out the background. If they didn't do all of the editing they do on this show, it would not be as attractive to US audience. I have seen clips of the UK version, and it is not edited as much. Sadly, most of the American audience needs simple and in your face to be entertained. This is why great complex comedies like Arrested Development get taken off the air.
@AlexTheMartian What? I can tell you that I certainly don't watch Kitchen Nightmares or Hell's Kitchen for specifically this reason. I like reality shows about reality, like maybe Storage Wars. This shit is just about yelling. Who wants to watch an hour of yelling?
@AlexTheMartian The UK one is wayyy better, and it seems more straight up then the US one. That and on Netflix its unedited so you get the full wrath of Ramsay lol
@AlexTheMartian Well said. You also forgot the laugh track that most Americans need to be reminded that they are watching something that is supposed to be funny...but really isn't (i.e. ABC and NBC sitcoms).
OH man, I did post-production for Hell's Kitchen about 3 years ago. I probably worked for the company that did the compositing of that shot. However, I do not think any of this matter, it is NOT a documentary. Reality shows have post production just like any other show. Most of the times, for a show like this we are editing out cameramen in shots, because in reality there is lot more cameras then you might ever see shown on the show, and the show producers rather have the focus be on the action
@AlexTheMartian Yeah considering where the orignal cameraman was standing he was probably in the shot. Nothing special. Just getting rid of a camera man.
I'm from the US and all this dramatic music and crazy editing can be very annoying..makes us looks like we can't watch tv without something dramatic going on..
Kitchen Nightmares just plain sucks. Period. About the only thing worse was that "Hell's Kitchen" thing. But I actually liked The F Word. It wasn't just fine dining, it was about where food comes from.
This really isn't an editing effect at all. It looks like someone extended a roll of brown paper behind GR. You see it sticking out a little bit in the first RED SIGN seen then you later see it extended out more hanging down behind him. The red halo exists for some strange lighting reason. It isn't the sign edited out. To the left of GR at 0:03 you see the brown paper sticking out a little bit. Then at 0:07 you see it pulled all the way behind his head. It hangs down next to his right arm
That's for an ad. What's the big deal? Things are taken out of context in movie trailers for effect all the time in much the same manner. In the show itself, I'm sure they didn't do this.
both the US and UK versions are really good. the UK version is good for it's realism and documentary style of the show. the US is good for it's drama, intensity, and humor.
Someone's got way too much time on their hands. The disclaimer at the end says the footage is not shown in the order it was shot. Watch something else.

It's TV, we call it entertainment for a reason.

I saw a funny one on Kitchen Nightmares USA where the owners were being interviewed near the end about how good the outcome was....and they were sitting on the furniture that they had BEFORE the makeover bit.
wesmatron 3 months ago
If you click the 'All Comments' link, you'll see that it is EXACTLY the same shot, but with two different backgrounds. It was definitely edited.
addjewelry 3 months ago
they didnt edit anythin. the first part was him standing away from the oven then after he's near it. there's no superimposing he just moved. look at the first scene that brown wall is off to the left then he moved closer to the oven and the brown wall was completely behind him. there are REAL things left in this world. especially a man like chef ramsay who is one of the top chefs in the world

MrBadger24 3 months ago

Fact.
Also, I'm not British.

billywish 4 months ago
tbh I dun think they copy pasted him to other scene, if u look next to him at beginning u can alrdy see the brown thing near him, maybe he just moved? Even if it wud be edited that's just normal, that's what media does-
XHisamishiX 4 months ago
From the amount of "dislikes" it's apparent that Americans are not as arrogantly ignorant as the person who posted this video. The two shots from THREE minutes apart are taken from a different angles GR was not standing at the same spot, so why would they have the same background? Just to let you know, if you pay attention to the production notes, the production team are completely different, so don't compare the two.

What I find most appalling is that people are looking for reality on television in the first place.

Chef Ramsay look POSSESSED!
Mizella1976 4 months ago
TheYellowMic 4 months ago 2
But WHAY MAKE FAKE REALITY SHOWS. They are not reality nothing on TV is reality. and when the show you a live broadcast thast not even true their are no live people running around in your tv. FFs grow a brain . Dont watch TV. Especially FOX.
neephius 4 months ago
So to sum up, this was just done purely "for effect", some executive or maybe even director wanted to intensify his presence, by blocking out the background. If they didn't do all of the editing they do on this show, it would not be as attractive to US audience. I have seen clips of the UK version, and it is not edited as much. Sadly, most of the American audience needs simple and in your face to be entertained. This is why great complex comedies like Arrested Development get taken off the air.
AlexTheMartian 4 months ago 53
@AlexTheMartian
I didn't know Arrested Development was complex, lol.
bananian 4 months ago
@AlexTheMartian Obviously this is true because nobody watches these kind of shows to learn.
Mere entertainment should be simple.
The British always thinking EVERY single one of their works have some complex "Shakespearian" meaning that makes it all poetic.
KoochiiMonstrr 4 months ago
@AlexTheMartian Americans are retarded.. well, most of them.
MetaIhead89 3 months ago
@AlexTheMartian What? I can tell you that I certainly don't watch Kitchen Nightmares or Hell's Kitchen for specifically this reason. I like reality shows about reality, like maybe Storage Wars. This shit is just about yelling. Who wants to watch an hour of yelling?

@AlexTheMartian Long story short: The overall intelligence of the USA is far below that of a more mature country such as the UK.
Thingamajigs 3 months ago
@AlexTheMartian The UK one is wayyy better, and it seems more straight up then the US one. That and on Netflix its unedited so you get the full wrath of Ramsay lol

@AlexTheMartian I'm American and this is the truth.
LordAngus1992 3 months ago
@AlexTheMartian Well said. You also forgot the laugh track that most Americans need to be reminded that they are watching something that is supposed to be funny...but really isn't (i.e. ABC and NBC sitcoms).

@AlexTheMartian If only they took Jersey Shore off the air....
ElMassacrista 3 months ago
OH man, I did post-production for Hell's Kitchen about 3 years ago. I probably worked for the company that did the compositing of that shot. However, I do not think any of this matter, it is NOT a documentary. Reality shows have post production just like any other show. Most of the times, for a show like this we are editing out cameramen in shots, because in reality there is lot more cameras then you might ever see shown on the show, and the show producers rather have the focus be on the action
AlexTheMartian 4 months ago
@AlexTheMartian Yeah considering where the orignal cameraman was standing he was probably in the shot. Nothing special. Just getting rid of a camera man.

Kitchen Nightmares just plain sucks. Period. About the only thing worse was that "Hell's Kitchen" thing. But I actually liked The F Word. It wasn't just fine dining, it was about where food comes from.
deerfieldproductions 5 months ago
This really isn't an editing effect at all. It looks like someone extended a roll of brown paper behind GR. You see it sticking out a little bit in the first RED SIGN seen then you later see it extended out more hanging down behind him. The red halo exists for some strange lighting reason. It isn't the sign edited out. To the left of GR at 0:03 you see the brown paper sticking out a little bit. Then at 0:07 you see it pulled all the way behind his head. It hangs down next to his right arm

who cares? Gordon Ramsay saves restaurants that want to be saved, his food is beyond delicious and he rules.
So the American editors get out of hand, who cares? he's still Ramsay!

That's for an ad. What's the big deal? Things are taken out of context in movie trailers for effect all the time in much the same manner. In the show itself, I'm sure they didn't do this.
WalterLiddy 5 months ago
both the US and UK versions are really good. the UK version is good for it's realism and documentary style of the show. the US is good for it's drama, intensity, and humor.
