the fans chose that song for bruce and he obliged . It was after the 1st set and it became a version of can you play this .The fans picked the songs , wrote the requests on placecards and Bruce played them . ( with the help of a telemonitor for the lyrics ) see other vids Higher and higher or Van's brown eyed girl on this page . Always has done covers in his sets and us fans who have seen him countless times enjoy them , in fact used to be one of the highlites . Devilinabluedressringabelldipshit
Since when is a musician playing ONE song from another musician during a set considered an insult? That has always been considered paying homage to musical influences. Last three concerts I attended, Night Ranger did Ozzy's "Crazy Train," Styx did the Beatles' "I Am The Walrus," and *Bob Seger* himself did both a blues track I didn't recognize as well as "Little Drummer Boy." Get over it!
I can't believe all the critics on here. Bruce sang this one as a request and expressed his affection towards Seger. Of course, he's not going to blow his voice out trying to match Seger in Seger's youth. Even Bob can't get close to a "Bullet" performance anymore, but who cares. They can both still send chills up my spine.
I think Springsteen's voice here is to raspy to give it the hard edge that Seger could back in 68. Still a great cover and he's rockin this song with everything he's got. Thanks Bruce.
Seger is a motivational singer , Springsteen is a power singer , totally different singing but there both legends if you don't like the cover move along to the thousands of other times seger has covered this song , Personally think Springsteen did a great job...
Wow, further proof that people on the internet aren't able to communicate with each other without becoming utter morons.
I'm a fan of both Springsteen and Seeger, am a Michigan native, and was actually at this concert...anybody who is offended that Bruce decided to play this needs to get their head examined. He was paying tribute to a local hero, and a guy who is a FRIEND of his, that's why he says "We love you Bobby" at the end.
It's not an insult to honor a local musician and a friend.
@VideoStarLight You're right, Seger sings his stuff a lot better than Bruce does. However, Springsteen has continued to produce meaningful, solid music, non-stop for the better part of 40 years. Seger? Not so much.
@latour90 You're an idiot or you don't know anything about Springsteen as a live performer. He NEVER fails with covers and in most cases, they're much better than the originals.
@KleWdSide You comment on my critique by calling me an idiot? I've seen Bruce many times live and have heard many of his covers. Most were excellent. This one was not IMHO. Bob Seger owns this song and Bruce did not do it justice in this version. Maybe YOU would be more credible with your comments if you didn't start with you are an idiot. BTW you apparently are an ass kissing, Bruce can do no wrong, idol lover. I'm guessing you have many posters of him in your bedroom. JERK.
@latour90 I'm glad he did the song--cuz it's awesome and it deserves to be recognized by someone as big as Bruce. But I couldn't agree with you more; the cover is very mediocre.
My daughter and I had GA tickets for Omaha in 2008. Got our numbered bracelets and were lucky enough to have the numbers that were chosen for the "pit". Right smack in the front row between Bruce and Clarence! It was FABULOUS!!!!

Bruce looks fantastic! He'll never sing like Seger but his spirit and joy while performing will never be surpassed. I love them both.

he did it as good as any band does it now, unless you are referring to the singing.. He's bruce springsteen, he cant sing like that

Great that he did this song--he paid homage to one of the hometown heroes and all-time rock and roll greats--but this version stinks.

Quarter notes on yer hi-hat please Max. Pound the crap out of the sanre like you did on Pink Cadillac.

@latour90 I definitely disagree. He did it as a request and he did it justice.

Ouch. Bruce should have left this one alone. He has to stop trying to cover the great one, Creedence included.
