  • 2 lanes each side is not enough to relieve the traffic in rush hour. What happened to 4 lanes each side? Let me guess make it look good, get the people on board then be cheap and cut corners or in this case 2 lanes each side....sigh

  • @lukychmz i agree st louis is WAY to big for to big for a two lane each way bridge....rush hour would be a mess. they would SO need 4 each way..

  • @lukychmz Missouri wasn't willing to put up any more money, which 4 lanes on each side would have needed. Illinois is already paying a larger portion of the bill. A grant from the Federal Government is paying for the rest.

  • this bridge looks exactly like the new greenville ms bridge going over the river from arkansas to arkansas!

  • it is going to be some amazing to be one of the workers working on the bridge. im going to brag to everyone. and work my ass off. thats gonna be sweet. im so excited and anxious to work on this bridge. cant waint.

  • Halk52 is right. There can be a new twin built, and the old one can have up to 6 lanes in one direction if the jersey median barriers are removed.

  • The original plans had the cable anchors being much taller (almost as high as the Arch) and slightly bent, with 4 lanes per side, plus a three-fourths stack at the old I-70/Tucker/14th St mini parkway planned. Plus the bridge would have have been 4 lanes per side.

  • I like those cable stayed bridges (not the same as suspension bridges). They have a sleek, simple and futuristic design. And they are incredibly efficient, structurally and cost wise as well...

  • Currently planned to be named Ronald Reagan Memorial Bridge. Construction began May 09 in Illinois and is estimated to take 6 years to complete.

In the "Ultimate Project" plan, there will be an identical sister bridge next to it as well as updated area interchanges.

  • This is supposedly the new bridge....does anyone know if they're still going to build it?

  • looks like the clark bridge.
