The reason to get a macbook pro is if you need the CD drive or if you plan on watching/making movies, music editing, photo editing, or playing games such as Sims 3, WOW, or any next-gen game alike. @fizsayshello Air would be more than capable, if not overkill. MBA 2010 is perfect, go for a 13" or 11" - if you intend on watching movies etc, the bigger screen will help.
@fizsayshello For you I would recommend the Air 13'. Make sure you get at least 120gb ssd. The air does not have a cd/dvd drive but Apple has an usb drive you can use and I believe there is a way to use the dvd/cd drive from another Macbook or iMac, not completely sure on that. Apple also allows you to save cd's directly to your hard rive on the air because of the lack of optical drive, if I remember correctly.

Nice video, but I suppose you should turn off booting of the CD drive when you're turning on the Macbook Pro because the laptop waits if there's a CD that it can boot and there you lose about 30 seconds.

@webgier cheaper laptops with better specs is not always the best option. i bought a macbook white in late 2006 and i am still using it now (actually typing this message using it) while since then i have been through 4 dell laptops with better specs than the mac but one after another they either fail, break, become faulty and carry a lot of problems. my imac g5 bought in 2005 still becomes fully operational in about 25 from booting compared to my new dell desktop. apple are the best, no question

I have a 4 year old notebook from a company, that doesnt exist anymore and it still works like on the beginning. bwt it is normal, that a good computer has problems. I run CS5 along with all the standard stuff on it and it's fast - rarely laggy (only if I'm running Word in addition to Safari, Mail, CS5, Chronories, iWork and VLC (and a couple of other little things). Basically, MS Office and CS5 don't play well together. Best to close one before opening the other. Highly recco MBA
Nice comparison, although when you think about, with the air you do get the anti-glare display (silver bezel) and the high res screen compared to the Pro where you would have to buy it when ordering it for like 250£. Quite nice though.

My Macbook pro starts up just as fast as the Macbook Air. Macbook air doesn't have the cooling system which will slow it down as it heats up, Isn't that correct?
Why is the GeekBench score for this computer 2681 on the geekbench website? That is a pretty big difference.... The 2.13ghz has a rating of 3005. What gives? If your score is correct then i wont be spending the extra cash for the faster processor. Because the scores arent that different.

Yes! there is nothing special about a computer working over some years, but you missing the point here. I was stating that there is something special about computers which are 5 yrs old and still perform as good if not better than the computers made these days such as my imac and my macbook

This is maybe the reason why so much people buy a mac. Pc users are happy with pcs, because most of them know how to use a computer. People that go to mac cant use a normal computer, so they choose the "easier" mac. The mac vs pc ads say the same things 1000s of times.

Its the same hardware, apple dousnt produce any hardware, it uses the same like pc so it cant be better. Why should the os be better. I dont see, that any os is better, not win 7 not mac os. But you cant configure a mac like you can do it with a pc. need a new motherboard, buy it put it in and it works no big deal, dont need some geniuses

I just got a Macbook Air. And my goodness you are right, the SSD is crazy fast. I'm running Final Cut Studio and Aperture on it, and they boot up so incredibly fast.

I was thinking of getting the Macbook Air, but I need some advice.
I'm a college student and I only really use my laptop for Youtube, listening to music, watching movies, and lab reports (homework.. etc..) I also hookup my laptop to my 32'' LG HDTV when I go home.

Thanks, that was very helpful. Just wanted to share my experience. I have a few MacBook Pro's - 13 and 15s, but I've pretty much forsaken them all for my new MBA13 256ssd. I run CS5 along with all the standard stuff on it and it's fast - rarely laggy (only if I'm running Word in addition to Safari, Mail, CS5, Chronories, iWork and VLC (and a couple of other little things). Basically, MS Office and CS5 don't play well together. Best to close one before opening the other. Highly recco MBA

Nice comparison, although when you think about, with the air you do get the anti-glare display (silver bezel) and the high res screen compared to the Pro where you would have to buy it when ordering it for like 250£. Quite nice though.

Why is the GeekBench score for this computer 2681 on the geekbench website? That is a pretty big difference.... The 2.13ghz has a rating of 3005. What gives? If your score is correct then i wont be spending the extra cash for the faster processor. Because the scores arent that different.

New MacBook air 13" is the best and suggest all the new buyer to get it...although it's abit expensive in uk( m not sure about USA but probably it's much cheaper then in uk)... But it's better to upgrade 2 GB RAM to 4 GB..coz it gona give you better performance..with higher RAM and new generation FLASH drive instead of HARD drive just feel the difference..which you can find in only MacBook air 13"/11" laptop...by the way it's very very lite and very slim..every one of those gona love it..gud l
