Hey Charity, your voice is simply amazing!!!!! You have a true gift. i was woundering if you had the lyrics for this song??? I wanted to do it unacompanied at school. keep up all your hard work, i know your going to go a long way :)
@broadwaybabies247 I wish I could but the writers contacted me shortly after I posted this and said that I wasn't allowed to post any more videos other than the ones I had posted already.
very good! you seem to have soo much confidence on stage at such a young age. i was always to afraid to sing solos. but you deffinetly have talent! keep it up!
This song is so beautiful, I don't know why this musical isn't more popular. Your voice is gorgeous, I wish I could sing like that! Oh, but you're probably getting sick of all the compliments. Would you mind telling me what sort of voice you have (Like sporano, mezzo-soprano etc.) because lately I've had a fascination with voices because I can't seem to figure out what sort of voice I have. Thanks!
@msRluvsU thank you so much for the compliments! it's very sweet of you. :D I consider myself to be a Mezzo/soprano. back then i was strictly a mezzo/soprano BELTER but nowadays depending on what i'm singing i'm a belter/mixer/soprano. but I think i'll always be mezzo/soprano. :D Hope that answers your question!
This Song Reminds Me Of My Mum Who Sadly Died Last Year Ago!! You Sang It Brilliantly And It Brought Me To Tears. I Played Sara In My School Production And By The End Of This Song I Could Hardly Speak Cus I Was Cryin So Much! Thank You Very Much =D xxx
She doesn't have a solo song but she's got a few nice solos. One in the song "Rules" with the rest of the schoolgirls and she's got an awesome duet with Sara when the "magic" happens in the attic. It's a great fun song! Congrats on getting Becky!!! Ur gonna have a blast! What a fun role!
omg everytime i watch this i cry wow it is so powerful and moving i have seen a few differnt cast do part of this musical but this is far most the best i just love the accents and i know that charity will go far in life i would lve to see more of this musical with her as sarah crewes it is so touching
very sweet performance of this song. My daughter and I are auditioning for a community theatre production of A Little Princess. Are there any script excerpts posted somewhere we could look at to prepare?
thank you so much! This was in 2003 when I had just turned 13 years old. :) And I am most definitely pursuing this as a career! Thanks for the comment!
I have never seen the musical of this p;ay but this song remembers me of the song maybe the the paly annie wothmolly being coferted by Annie and Christ y you are so butiful and you have a great voice. I think ylu shood reach for the stars and try to get on brodway with that amazing voice and fallow your dreems. Great job ase Sara Crew in tis musical.
I never said anything about rhyming, I said RHYTHM. Rhythm is the pacing of the words, which I don't think is done well. I said I liked the words and the way they are written, it's the way they are put to music that I find problematic.
Reputing a comment just because you can't tell the difference between the words 'rhythm' and 'rhyme'... shame.
sorry, I misinterpreted the words. Still, even the Rhythm of the words to music is very good, IMHO. Being a Produce of Theatrical shows, I have seen some really good shows and some bad ones. Overall, this is a wonderful show. I'm surprised its not on Broadway.
Really?? These lines "All through the leaves on the trees
You can smell them when you breathe" don't even fit with the music. I honestly don't know how you can like the rhythm, but each to their own. I don't think this is broadway material 2bh. I shudder to think what you have produced if you think this is good, even the arrangement is dull. Sorry, but I give it a big thumbs down and am just grateful I didn't pay to watch this travesty. (No offence to the actors though, they are wonderful.)
To be honest, My next production is a national tour of this exact musical. I, as well as my colleges believe that this musical is top notch. This is of course backed up by the rave reviews given to the musical in its original production. It's also evident in the 5 star rating right here on youtube.
I respect your opinion though.. Hell, there was a lot of people who didn't like Les Miserable's and even Phantom of the Opera... You can't please everyone as they say.
I've never heard of Les Miserables being panned, people just could not understand the overwhelming amount of people/sets etc in it. But comparing a good piece to Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera? I'm sorry, I didn't realise you meant THAT type of broadway. That's fine then, a Cats lover such as yourself probably do find this entertaining. Go ahead, produce, I can't wait to hear the reviews.
"Really?? These lines "All through the leaves on the trees
You can smell them when you breathe" don't even fit with the music."
--- Also, that is your personal opinion. I think it fits in fine with the music. In fact, I don't think a single lyric in the production is out of place. I'll admit that its not the best musical I ever seen, but it sure is not bad either. I'm happy to be producing it!
Oh, and to add: I have produced Annie, Sweeney Todd, Evita, Narnia, Babes in Toyland as well as cheaper by the dozen for the professional Theater, and have worked on a lot of amateur shows. I have also seen more than 40 different musicals.
I feel that I am well versed enough to give my $0.02 on this musical, and I think its great.
It seems we run in the same circles, although don't seem to have crossed paths, perhaps that is because you offer your $0.02, and I offer my 2pence. I have appeared in and been stage manager of My Fair Lady twice, and have also got credits in a few of the following: John Godber's Bouncers, Godber's Shakers, Othello, Death of A Salesman, Treasure Island, Antigone and some indie films. I think it's fair to say a tastes seem far apart. Babes in Toyland compared to Othello, you see the difference?
10 Anniversary Special, the girl who plays Cosette is nothing short of AMAZING!! She really impressed me when one of the bulbs exploded and, while she jumped, she kept right on singing. The musical as a whole is wonderful, but that just stands out.
That's really cool. I've only done 3 professional shows in my life, but i know that they can be really fun (except for when ur in themvfor a year and a half lol. I was in Les Miserables in Boston for that long and I got soooooooo sick of it!)
Thank you for the wonderful compliments. No the rest of the show is not uploaded but there are two other songs from the show that are posted. All Girls are Princesses and If I Could. I hope you get a chance to see them!
i agree, the soprano was a bit shocking. btw, who is the character on the platform upstage center in white, she appears in another video too, just sorta standing there. something to do with sara's mother, i'm guessing?
Yes that is Sara's mother. The writers took Sara's speech from the book about mothers watching over their children after death and really ran with it in a fantastic way. She is a vital part of the show the way they wrote it and I think it's genius! =D
LOL The girl who played Lottie seems kinda bored (ow old was she?). Apart from that rlly good!!! btw- why does Sara have an extra piece of lace on her dress?
she was 6 at the time. (she's all grown up now into a beautiful prima ballerina!) and as far as the lace goes. There is a scene just after Sara finds out her father has been killed where i was changed onstage into a black dress and so I had to have undergarments. They just happened to be a little higher than we anticipated though when we ordered the costume piece. =P
i LOVE this song! When I read about the musical on their website, and looked at the pictures they had there, ill be honest, it looked rather commonplace, but when i saw the lavish sets and costumes on this one, and heard the music (I definitely know now why Lottie stopped kicking and screaming)i went WOW this is GREAT
thanks for the comment. Our director of this particular production really put her heart and soul into this show. she even put thousands of dollars of her OWN money into it. I definitely think it shows how hard she worked on it. =D
it DOES show. of the few minutes of it i've seen, it was WONDERFUL. i wish i could've seen it. i especially wish i could have seen something from Sara after her life changes, because that's when Sara is the very Sara-est. when you hear that music from an audience perspective, you can't help your heart and soul being with Sara too. the singing is AMAZING
I've watched many of your videos now, and let me say, you have a very sweet voice, and you're a very dynamic performer. your version of As Long as He Needs Me was fantastic; really strong! I'm a huge musical theater fan/performer myself, and I always love to see new shows. Any chance you have anything else from that version of A Little Princess? Also, check out my summer theater group's work, do a search for "Newton Summer Stage". I think you'll like it!
thank u for the compliments. I will try to post some more of A Little Princess soon. There's a really pretty song called "If I Could" that I might post. It's a song Sara sings just after she finds out her father has died. It's beautiful.
It was a local community theatre. This was their first and last show because it was independently produced. AFter the quality of this first production though I'm surprised they didn't get picked up by any other theatres though!
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and you sing it so beautifully. (and i still can't believe you were only 13) Remember me when you're famous!!
This video has officially become my favourite! I got all tingly. I only wish I had been there to witness it myself! Miss Farrell you have done an excellent job here and I can only hope to see more of you in the future. :)
I feel honored to be the 100th person to like this song. I love this song, and this is sung well!
