Keep in mind that this is "Jannick Top" Magma. Oh it's definitely Magma, and very good in its way, but with a darker, bleaker, more primitive side (Ork Alarm etc.). "Vander" Magma has darkness too, but tends to grow towards the light, with ecstatic and transcendentalist qualities. Which isn't to say both artists didn't contribute to each others' compositions, for the vital years they worked together. But you can hear two streams within Magma, and for me, this isn't the most profound one.
Naa, just kiddin´...but this performance IS brutal to someone unfamiliarized with Magma. Their first works (Kobaia, 1001 centigrades) are more digerible, try them
@Tobeh I noticed that you don´t have any idea what Magma means. I invite you to listen their albums and enjoy travelling around the Universe with their MUSIC. And if you don´t like it, what the fuck are you doing here watching this video?
@kontarkosz The same thing people pop onto any other music, we look for something new and question it to see what the people who like it have to say, though I expected nothing less than the arrogance the fans of this band have shown. Though one person who responded to my post twice, the second time at least had the courtesy to acknowledge that maybe I just needed time for it to grown on me. I've listened to a few more of their songs and have decided it's not for me. I'll stick to Epica.
un groove très particulier, climats fantastiques, toujours là! des grands musiciens ces deux compères! j'adorerais toujours christian vander et jannck top! et avec le grand klaus blasquiz au chant que j'ai rencontré et qui est si simpa! c'est un enchantement! Didier D'agostino batteur.
Can't agree more with the title. I discovered Magma in 1975 when they did a tour with Hawkwind and Man. They just blew me away and totally changed my views on music. Without doubt the "BEST BAND EVER".
@fils2lumiere Alexandre Dumas pere wrote over 400 historical novels exposing world tyranny(Roman Catholic Empire). The Society of Jesu(Jesuits) have been expelled from 82 countries. ARAMIS IS THE COUNT OF MONTE CHRISTO(GENERAL OF THE JESUITS0
The album version of De Futura is faaaar better. Along with Magma Live's Köntark ( 1975 ), they are Magma's most incredible pieces of music ever created.
Still, I wouldn't say that Magma is the best band ever ( even if I've been a fan since 1995 and seen them many times live ). If you want the best band ever try Frank Zappa who is probably the greatest rock artist of all times.
@Shaktidej well yeah of course zappa was great. but I think most magma fans already know that. I reckon Magma is one of the most technically apt bands you will come across, however, even if they're not playing a bicycle or kazoo.
@slideon he didn't invent the language, silly. He and the band brought it back from Kobaia after the future wars and came back in time to warn us about the impending DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Superbe. Mais greatest band of our time, on se croirait chez les fans de Maria Carey ! Dans quelle catégorie ? Pour la daube, la place est déjà prise par Toto.
Wow! These guys are great! I just heard about them today while reading through the booklet for the album Camembert Electrique by Gong. I think I've got a new favorite band!
That's Klaus Blasquiz, one of the longest-running members of Magma. Same singer in the "Magma - De Futura (high quality)" video. He's all grown up now, huh? :-D
It is rage, anger, hope, courage, strangth, power at the same time, adventure, strike, seance,.... pure energy of Vander, Top, Vander, Blasquiz, Paganotti and many others... It is Magma. Look for old and new releases at Seventh Records. Because you're worth it!
Ladies & gentlemen, Have you seen and heard this, with your sences and mind open? Okay then, let us surrender to the forces of Zeuhl... The forces we experience here through this channel called Magmanik... They are very strong, they are very active... -as we speak in Paris, but also in the rest of France, Europe, Japan and USA. Let us surrender to these force, for there are no forces stronger than these, at least in music and art.
Nah, Darkload18, just oneof the most spirited bands in existence. That, or they hold their coke damn well, because the drummer and his vocalist wife have been giving performances at this level of energy for almost 40 (FORTY) years.

One of the great things about Magma is they prove you don't have to be incredibly loud, distorted, or downtuned to be intense.
Much like Zappa, Christian Vander pushes the shit out of his musicians, but doesn't ask of them anything he's not capable of doing.

Technically, they are downtuned to drop D but yeah I agree with what you have to say.

1997 a girl named Lauren was walking in a forest and suddenly
disappeared; she hadn't been discovered untill 2000 when a young girl
named Mary found Lauren's body which had chest markings that said, "I
wasn't pretty enough." Lauren's ghost will appear in your mirror,
telling you that you're not pretty enough
See Moreshe will kill you.The same happened to Mary, and she died shortly
after. To save yourself, copy and paste this into five other band's
