I here you about the ps2 version not being issued outside of Japan- I don't own a Saturn, never did but this was one of those commercials that stuck out to me (with the Saturn)
@zonic94 ??? all you needed was the flip top of the Swap discs? Must be a typo- you say modify and get the swap magic discs, either will do.... I'm considering the discs myself (I'm trying to build up a case beyond this one game though- paying 50 bucks combined for a disc game seems kind of steep)
I'm sorry, when you said "actually either or will do" I thought you were trying to say "actually neither will do" meaning the flip top and the discs wouldn't be enough. My bad.
thanks for the review, very well made. I love this game and I didn't even know there was a remake. Really a shame this didn't get released in the states. I used to have a modded Ps2 (the original version) but got rid of it a long time ago. I have one of the Ps2 slims now but not sure of any "EASY" way to mode it to play Japanese games. At least I still have the Saturn version to play.
Great review. It's hard to find reviews of this game. Informative but funny at the same time.
I live in the US. I actually modded my PS2 about a year ago to a play a different Japanese PS2 game, and I've tried to do research and find other Japan-only games to check out.
When I heard that NiGHTS into Dreams was ported to the PS2, I went crazy. I never got to play it on the Saturn but it seems amazing!!! I just bought a copy on eBay. :D
The majority of the game's text in English, the only Japanese to be found is in the memory card screens and the game's box and instructions. This really bugged me: if they pretty much completed most of the Japanese to English text translation, why didn't they bother finishing it and released the game outside of Japan?
@zonic94 That's really interesting, I loved Nights on the Saturn, but somehow I misplaced it, so I kinda wished they would've released it outside Japan. Thanks for the review by the way, it was really informative and now I want to import it, haha. Kudos man.
i didnt know this was on ps2??????? i only have the wii verson

I wish SEGA & Microsoft would bring a port of the Saturn game onto x.b.l.a,as it's one of the best & most unique games I've ever played!

@socillizt4life If Nid15's Campaign on the website works, you might get your wish.

@AllanSanches
No. Not unless you modify it with a flip top and have some Swap Magic discs.

What a fantastic review. Sure, the footage may have been a bit grainy, but the production values were spot-on! Excellent stuff.
Couldn't agree more about a Live Arcade release. A Saturn emulated version with online score rankings would make it an instant purchase!

Out of curiosity, how did you get the PS2 game translated?

Well that's the funny thing, I didn't.

Great review I really want this game hopefully SEGA ports it to the Xbox 360 or PSN with better graphic. If not I am importing it with a Japanese PS2
