We adopted our daughter at 8 months from Hunan so we didn't have that problem ! Neither of you seem to be frustrated by it though. Both of you will learn quickly. Congratulations - she is too stinkin' cute !

she was not speaking cantonese or mandarin. I am a chinese and i got no clue of what she was trying to say. I guess should some local language. You were speaking in cantonse, she could not understand.
She's speaking Zhuang. This is baby talk about Emily and their room. She's saying that Emily is in the room.

I think she is speaking 'Toi shan'-a dialect that is similar to cantonese.
