I do remember seeing this, kids. I loved the original show (saw it 4 times) and I loved this, if nothing else because it was so unusual. Even at that time, it was rare to see such unabashedly old-school Broadway theatricaity on national television, unless it was a spoof. Of course, this was nothing compared to the actual show, and I doubt they needed the publicity (it was already an enormous hit), so even then I wondered what was the point -- except that it was fun!
Note the orphan in the yellow dress. That's Danielle Brisebois as Molly. Annie debuted on Broadway in April 1977, only months before this production. I saw the original Broadway production of Annie not once, but 3 times!
