Ok, this actually used to work but it stopped to at some point (at some versions?). Anyway, if divx fails for you, try the xvid codec (just google for it).
Xvid did the magic for me, i.e. it automatically pops up in the list of compressors in CamStudio.

is it really necessary to put this in video form? this is just a slew of how-to videos where a user records himself typing out useless information...unfortunately you have to actually sit through it to determine that it is useless. if you just put it in text, at least someone could skim through it and determine its uselessness

Divx recommends going to Stage6. Stage6 only use/used DIVX video's and you had to buy their converter to download videos to Stage6. BTW some of the members from Stage 6 started a new site called Stage7 but I suggest to be careful.
