  • Hey, i've got a question. I have an iMac G3 which is exactly the same, and i tried to install exactly the same version of Xubuntu, but i can't. Which CD did you use? (i know, sounds a little dumb, but i am new with iMac's.) Can you help me out?

  • I downloaded it and burnt it, I don't remember the exact version, I did it a long time ago, sorry

  • Flash is not supported? Have you tried "sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree"? It works on intel-based computers and might as well work on ppc. Please keep us informed if it works!

  • @dsaito

I'll be sure to try it

  • @CH12ON1C

Flash for PPC is only for Mac OS X.. For Ubuntu PPC or another Linux Dist, you need swfdec or gnash.

btw, a G3 is too slow for Flash, i have a G4/400, and its the same, too slow for youtube and co.

  • Try Running Windows 2000

  • @TheVmware That wont install onto a PPC!!! :P

  • me and you should burn sometime check out my imac vids g3 imacs can be surprisingly fast runing tiger

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetness apple ftw

  • Nice vid. I have an Imac G3 266 mhz pruchased from a yard sale for $20 about a year ago that I tried a few distos of Linux on. I've upgraded the mem to 288 meg (originally had 2 -32 mb chips) - took a dvd/cd writer out of a toshiba craptop (lcd didn't work & it was terribly slow) & put that in - now it burn cd's! - I have ubuntu jaunty with ext4 in it now & it boots pretty quick for this ol' machine -lxde is the desktop. I'll put up a new vid. soon. I have a vid of the jaunty beta booting.

  • I went to your channel, and i realized i watched your imac vids a while back lol, when i was looking into linux on the g3 i watched your ubuntu video

  • Yeah, I love Xubuntu (especially when running it on ext4 filesystem). I think I even prefer the XFCE DE over GNOME now. Hey, for the flash plugin, I think you can do a sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree or install xubuntu-restricted-extras in the pacman which includes flash, java, LAME, and other good stuff. Great video, man.

  • Thanks alot i'll be sure to try that out
