Yes, it's quite similar to the original, but still different enough, and with the video that sets a non-serious tone. Both are great IMHO. Btw, is there NO video with better quality than that? You can barely see what's going on! There are fan made videos for this (tDotHT) song that have better quality than this...
@TheGreatOldOnes the original is better in my opinion, because its more refined, simplistic, and the original..these guys pave the way for musicians like tdotht. but all things aside..just fou nd this cover today...its so aweesome too!!

Why you say absurd? this cover is nowhere near the original, yes but it explores all the Orifices of music today, mingles about a bit and comes out, yes like SHIT.
How is this cover 'absurd'? It's a nihilistic take on the song and definately conveys that them and feel through the video, which is Lovecraftian styled...and HP Lovecraft was writing horror when your granddaddy was in diapers.
Toren is the fucking man. He and I used to trade old cartoons back in the day. He needs to drag his ass to the US though and take his awesome band somewhere other than PAX.

Okay, I was a little harsh...it's actually not bad. It's just that some parts that you take from the original like the "Keep it up.." playout and Sting's famous "eee-oo" thing just aren't working with your version. It's too fast and it sounds like you just tacked them on.

eh...sorry but that totally messed up the feel of the song. The original one was influenced by reggae, like a lot of the early songs by The Police, and that really was what made it so popular and catchy. I can understand having your own style, but if you're going to change it so much that it sounds absolutely NOTHING like the original, why even bother covering a Police song??
Pretty good. Not as wacked out as I would have thought for the Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, though. Love your music guys, I'm looking forward to Shadow Out of Tim.
Honestly, that's one Lovecraft story I haven't read that. I will before I listen to your album of course.

If a cover is going to sound extremely similar to the orignial, why even bother covering it?
