  • He's talking too much, almost like a woman... Wanna see and hear that bike, damn!

  • the problem with this bike is, Its probably way more than the BMW 1200 also I just dont see me riding the road of bones with a ducati???

  • This bike will be perfect for me and I decide I'll buy it tomorrow. Now I'm off to rob a bank!

  • Learn about motorcycle before making an video, it looks retarded when you read it..

  • need the song and bike of course

  • @motorcyclenewsdotcom what's the name of the song ? pls

  • Does the change in power modules affect fuel consumption? less HP=less fuel?

  • between Ducati and BMW mmm ..? MULTISTRADA DUCATII 4 in 1 is best 4X4 hahahahah

  • like the music

  • Nice camera work, nice info. Keep up the good work!

  • as always great sound! we cant hear his stupid voice and you also put background music?

  • what the hell is Lansarotty ? :D

  • not good bike........ I prefer IZH instead.....

  • I agree. Phil West is the best. I would love to have that job. I just saw one at the dealership yesterday. It is unbielevable. I went to see the Triumph Tiger 800. I might have to look closer at this. Which would you take?

  • went to a ducati store today and looked at one of these

    1 word.....

    amazing

i really want one of these

  • What a beauty!

  • whats the song?

  • riding a 1200cc motorcycle (of any brand) is committing suicide, riding a 1200cc Ducati is committing suicide in good style, xD

  • @aragorn1780 why is riding a 1200 commiting suicide??

  • @jebbadiah Because you're more likely to do crazy and stupid things on more powerful bikes which will definately happen. You don't get powerful bikes to go the speed limit, you get them to live life on the edge and have fun.

  • @Scott97169 Agreed.

  • Nice song..!

  • too expensive and too much electonics!!!!!! can Ducati guaranty about that???? the bike is looking perfect

  • Not quite sure why i'm reading about Harley's in some of these posts...this is a 150bph Ducati...Oh, and before you ask, yes i've owned Harley's...and Buell's...Lets not start comparing.

Good video, gives decent overview of some of the 'extras', which back-up the engine and price tag, and competitivness with GS's. However, the person who selected the soundtrack for this video SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ANYWHERE NEAR TO A MOTORCYCLE EVER AGAIN IN HIS OR HER LIFETIME.

  • I love it but too expensive.

  • Better quality video compared to MCN's past productions unundated with wind noise static. By the way - Nice bike

  • Hahaha... Chicken!

  • @xXismeXx I own a harley and it can be a piece of crap at times! There's no way I would take my sportster on a long haul and besides what do you do when you gotta go off road. So many harley guys are close minded and although harleys can be fun they are a on dimensional bike that you can bet you will service riding abroad.

  • @xXismeXx

yeah right, bikes with a power to weightratio of 0,6 kW/kg are for girls

50kW is all a "Real men" needs

  • bah, i'd rather get a harley

  • Slow down man i can't understand almost anything.

  • what is the name of the song????

  • very nice bike

  • pretty ugly i must say.

  • how much?

  • @dc8078 18700 eur

  • which shong is that is so cool?

  • omfg fuck these ads srsly.. i press f5 and nofin happens

  • how about electronics? are they good? are they trustworthily? pls msg me somebody who has one.thanks

  • the front looks like an eagle

  • @SgtMaulwurf Eagle? I was thinking chicken, a rooster to be exact. I was just sitting on one at the dealer today. It was pretty hard to walk away from, probably harder still to write a cheque for $25,000 CDN.

  • Awesome!!

  • Awesome!!

  • Whoa! A Duc that actally looks like a duck! At least it's nowhere near as ugly as the previous multistrada.

  • Excellent review, well presented and well filmed. It is a shame that all bike and car tests are not as objective as this one

  • @happybonzo : I couldn't agree more...

  • My Dad just bought a brand new one 2 onths ago. This bike is a beast an a beauty at the same time! It's acceleration rips ur face off without a helmet.Which I only tried once haha.

  • So some Italians thought of this bike over espresso; IT NEEDS A MILLION HORSEPOWER, and then they hired Austrians to built it? I don't buy into the 'italian bikes are build badly' b-s, but this is just way past anything they ever did… Good :D

Hope they bring back the ST with this engine and a sport-tour suspension/engine switch o=)

  • i think i m in love....!

  • @sakias7 me 2

  • whahaha im gonna make my own bike using 2nd hand ducati multistrada engine!!!!!

  • Fine review.

Everything sounds refined when said with a British accent.

  • sounds like vacum cleaner...non turbo cleaner

  • @MrDucatiBMW: Having some horsepower is always nice but 100 hp are more than enough even for a 120 kg rider, aren't they ? As I wrote, it's a nice bike but you pay a lot for the name. We yet have to see the durability of this Italian beauty on a long and rough trip. I guess BMW has an advantage there with their GS.

  • @rocknruelps i had GS adventure before. Bike with 150 HP has much more power in acceleration, i can feel it also now if i switch to enduro mode from sport mode theres a very big difference in power from 4000 tours if i twist full throttle. With Multi i have a feeling of power cruiser like V-max with a weight and handling of a bicycle plus great fuel economy range 350 km (vmax only 120 km). Only one advantage of GS i see in very low speed 30-50 kmh it drives more regulary than multi engine

  • Excellent cinematography and editing and I loved the commentary. Keep up the good work.

  • This nice bike has a lot of power but it's far from being perfect. The display is a mess, the main stand is a source of inconvenience for your left foot during the ride and the gas tank is made of plastic, thus renders your old magnetic tank rucksack useless. Not to mention that Ducati uses the same China plastic but charges you three times more money than Kawasaki. Get yourself a Versys, save € 12.000 and stay alive, because no-one needs 150 hp except suicidal madheads on German Autobahns.

  • @rocknruelps i dont agree. BMW GS is using plastic tank too, of course you must use original tankbag (but ducatis bag is extremly nice). Well i dont know aboute main stand because i bough multi with carbon parts so it has no main stand. I guarantee you that you can use 150 HP for youre security in fast overtaking manoovers on normal road, like me yesterday - accelerations from 100 kmh - 150 kmh are impressive, it press youre buttock to the higher rear seat and thats an incredible nice feeling !

  • Great video, 10 out of 10! Its sounds better than any GF I've had...at least it doesn't get moody LOL. Cheers.

  • Why cant all the videos be as in depth as this one!!!

  • phantastic video!! keep up the great work!

  • THIS is how you make a preview / hands-on video, MCN! I was entertained the whole way through. *like*

  • wdf this uses a transponder key?

  • my next bike ...

  • it went 300km/h

  • wow... cool...

  • well. i have this bike at home now (1200S). I must say this :

    - the biggest advantage is in fast corners (is still a Ducati)

    - if you ride this bike the feeling is most similar to triumph tiger (but duc is better)

    - seat is very wide and comf. but smaller persons would have problem with heigth in enduro mode (wide seat - spread legs), lowered seat will be popular

  • @MrDucatiBMW - you may drive like with a chopper - low tours, deap lean, full throttle - great sound

    - motor is very loud (much louder than GS) - short exhaust

    - windshield is perfect

    - bike is absolutely neutral - you may drive like on a bicycle - on neutral downhill to curves - no problem no need for motor in lean angle

  • @MrDucatiBMW - suspension is top - the bike is very fast in curves with low quality surface (waves)

    - suspension travel is not so good like in KTM adv but the seat is better so the comfort is great

    - space under seat is 3 litres

    - you may start the bike without key (pincode)

    - comp is more complicated than you may imagine - you may define own modes (for example RAIN, or fuel economy travel mode, or city with crap roads etc..)

    - in speed 130 kmh it has cons. 5 litres / 100 km

  • great video amazing bike. What I hate about GS owners is their arrogance. Ducati has made a historic motorcycle here and although it can go on dirt roads it is clearly not for serious off road machine and at no stage have I seen a GS owner accept that Ducati have made a fine motorcycle! Keep your GS and go aournd the world and like Long way round wannabies......If KTM had given Charley the bikes they wanted the world of motorcycling would be SO different.

  • @KimLudbrook

If KTM had given Charley the bikes they wanted the world of motorcycling would be SO different.

    KimLudbrook 3 weeks ago

You right about it dude :)

  • Ducati Accessories: kitchen sink, stove and bathroom

  • It also weighs just 412lbs it's insane...

  • This video production is WAY better than all the other MCN vids I've seen. Great job on the camera and editing work! Not so sure about the Duc, seems like a neat sport-touring bike, but SOOOO complicated, I'd hesitate to "adventure" far from the pavement...

  • i just paid 30% in advance for red multistrada 1200S with carbon parts and must wait 2 weeks for a bike

  • Didi he say 50 thousand mile service interval at around 2.10

  • interval is 24.000 km

  • @MakeTheNoiseMTB 15k mate... cheers

  • test

  • What a fucking joke! GS killer! Anyone who thinks that doesn't really ride off-road. Look at the exhaust running under the engine. I would rip the skid plate off in 5 minutes of serious off-roading, the exhaust would be next!

I've owned a Cagiva Gran Canyon and a GS1200. Have ridden to Alaska from California and many, many off -road adventures including a ROUGH ride to Barker Ranch. I WOULD NOT ever attemp it on this bike!

Nice try Ducati. Nice false advertising too.

  • @huskynox1

You have completely missed the point.. This is not an off road bike. It is a Multi Strada or multi road bike. Not a direct GS competitor... but it offers much more. I had a GS for 5 years and it's just too heavy for real off road work, I got so tired of wrestling that thing around. The new multi is much lighter than a GS, has an awesome engine, more power (much easier to use than the Boxer) and the incredible Ducati handling. .. no comparison to the GS.

  • Lets see what Yamaha brings with the new Super Ténéré 1200. :-)

  • too havy

  • Sure, don't get me wrong, I love the Multistrada. At first my plans are to have a R1200GS in maybe 8 years, but I really think the Multistrada is more suitable for the daily use.

I still have 8 years to decide. :-)

  • i had gs adv but allready sold it

8 years to decide ??? buy it now, tomorrow

  • I don't have the money right now, I just got my first bike ever (a H-D 883R 2005/2006), still getting used to it. =P

The GS is very expensive at my part of the world, so I will get it once I have paid the interest of a new apartment (right now I rent one). I might have a second bike in the meantime and later sell both to start paying the GS... but who knows. =P

  • @saulocpp bough gs adv incl all accessories, and after 2100 km clutch suddenly stopped to work i had a luck it was in low speed on 2nd gear so i could stop safely, i immediately sold the bike. Plus it has many other mistakes - for example mirrors are loosing from oncomming wind if you buy a huge key and you fix them with max power they are ok until you dont hit one with an arm on parking place and the wind make the rest.

  • idiotic - it would be enough to make clockwise convolute on left and anticlockwise on right mirror. seat is too hard, no space under seat u must allways drive with a topcase (first aid kit, reflex jacket - normaly you could put it under seat) tyres were loosing air (in a week from 2,5 to 1,8) etc etc... crap

  • @MrDucatiBMW: how much is the insurance for a Multistrada and a GS at your part of the world? Are ruffians in general interested in stealing these bikes?

  • compulsory insurance is very cheap i dont remember exactly but its less than 100 euro per year, but full insurance (thiefs, crash) is very expensive for bikes its around 20% of the bike price per year so nobody is buying that.

  • If i own garage there is no problem with thiefs, because my bike is during the night in my garage or in front of mountain hotel and there zero danger (cameras), but its not possible to park a bike on the street in the city during the night, if any biker has no garage he must buy a permanent one year ticket for parking house and thats safe

  • @MrDucatiBMW: you know what? I'm liking the Multistrada, I watched some videos and read about its specs. Definitely stronger and lighter than the 1200GS. It is a future upgrade, maybe in a few years, after it reaches my country and I get a good raise. :-)

The GS, like the new Ténéré, is too heavy for its purpose.

  • i have multistrada 1200S at home now, made a first ride 300 km on saturday.

  • @huskynox1 You may be one the .0001% of GS riders who actually muscle those behemoths off-road. The rest like to pose and pretend they might go off-road on their macho-beamers someday, meanwhile sitting around the coffee shop bragging about the size of their penises, uh panniers. The Multistrada looks like it actually may be MULTI strada without all the excess weight.

  • Was that stupid music really necessary? Very, very annoying. Spoiled an otherwise nice review.

  • pretty bike

  • If there is any sense left in this world, BMW wil not sell 1 1200 gs this year:)

    Want one. Want one badly!

  • @aukanmeister I have to agree, I like it

  • This is a fabulously shot and presented review Phil - love the camera work as much as I love the bike - I have an 1198 but I know my wife would prefer I owned the 1200 - We do a little production down here in Sydney - can you tell me what cameras you used to shoot this on? Very impressive!

  • £14k......This bike is lush..

  • nice editing, Mr. Jubb..

    great review.

  • $15,000 MSRP

  • @19slipstream84

Some people prefer comfort over looks.

  • geezuz, 150 horspower, just think those supermotard riders would do with that. 150 hp and yet it has all those options. they might have well thrown in a double clutch gearbox lol. electronic suspension's in there as well. wonder if its magnaride

  • phil west, you're the best and by a long stretch

  • i dont like the front beak at all but what really matters is riding the thing

  • I would hold on to my notepad as well...with so many perfornance enchancers it really is difficult to remember them all. Good Job.

  • I think BMW own this market space though (big engine hybrid tourers), the LCD is interesting but as shown in the video it is prone to out doors glare blindness from the sun (a problem with all LCD displays).

  • Out doors glare not an issue on the VFR. Perhaps that is positioned differently on the Bike (deeper inside the "cockpit"). Good point to check when actually test--riding a bike like this. Hadn't thought of that. Thanks

  • The point of the list is there's so much revolutionary stuff on this bike that you need a list to remember it all.

  • could have been a nice bike if they`d not copied the bmw gs that much! and the seating position is everything else but sport!

and a journalist that has to read the bike facts of his notepad...?!?

    cheers!

  • Well done video. (Great looking bike, too!)

  • i second that

  • nice vid.

what song is playing in the beginning?

  • You covered everything I wanted to know and even showed it all working.

    Fantastic review, thanks MCN!

  • good production

  • Great camera work and editing on this review. As others have said: more like this please. I'm a cruiser kind of guy, but I'd love one of these.

  • This is the quality we want from motorcycle reviews!

    Great job mcn!

  • Great bike (WANT), great review!

  • this bike is amazing

  • The video that accompanied this road test was definitely as impressive as the bike. All videos like from now on please MCN.

  • cost...? £ $

  • £13995 for the sport version ,I think £500 more for the touring, base model is less but you dont get the trick bits so what`s the point?

  • your editing is so much better BUT i wanna here the noise the bike makes too

i was nursing a semi watching this video

  • as much as i like Ducati i could not see myself ever buying a Ducati touring bike..

  • I would buy a BMW GS1200 if I plan on glabe Trotting - tried and tested by the world. I would but a Duc Multistrada if I probably toured around my country.

  • Nice editing on the filming!

    Great bike review as well.

  • like night rider? think street hawk would a been a more fitting phrase, nice bike good review all the same:)

  • "MCN's Multistrada review - brought to you by Ministry of Sound". Great bike, great review. Bravo MCN.

  • its also got a chain!! on a bike that is revolutionary! i love ducati and european bikes, but they should have ditched the chain and gone shaft

  • Shaft drive is seriously overrated. While it works fine and I am not saying it does not. It takes a good mechanic about 25 minutes to change a chain.

Think about how long it takes to strip down a shaft drive and just who is capable of doing it.

I am NOT a good mechanic and I can change a chain I am not so sure that I have either the expertise, the equipment or the space to strip down a shaft drive.

  • @TheDuerden

what if the chain goes bye-bye when you're offroad you tosser?

  • lmao that makes no sense, ktm ?

  • I was wondering what the hell this question was about and then I looked at the time.

An hour ago the schools ended, a few minutes for the children to get home and the timing is perfect.

  • I thought exactly the same as you until I owned my first shaftie about 8 months ago now, I`m very much a get on and ride person aka lazy! It`s been a revelation no messing with chain lube or adjusting just got to keep an eye on the transmission oil and that`s it :) If it does go crunch then like you say, it could be a problem (expensive)! But try it, you won`t go back!

  • Yeah I know what you mean. But I do like to tinker a little bit and pretend like I am a mechanic. I think that is why I like bikes, they are pretty simplistic mechanically...or at least they were. ABS, Traction Control, Shaft Drives...somewhat moving away from the easy maintenance route.

  • it actually looks real good for its class of bike

  • 1:03 great view!!!
