Hi ben, I love your videos, what type of banjo is that called? and also what banjo do you think is good for me? I'm hopefully getting a banjo next year and I want to know what banjo is good for a beginner.

@ClanChattan14 This is a custom made banjo by Mitch Key from Texas called a Phantom. I don't think ol' Mitch is making banjos anymore. This is a traditional 5-string banjo, except the 5th string runs underneath the fretboard at the 5th fret and comes out on the peghead. I always like to recommend the Deering Goodtime banjo line...there are several different Goodtime models available, and they're great!

Now that's a good arrangement if you don't have a guitar player handy! I've developed a similar way of doing it, but I like your arrangement better. The reno type stuff followed by the more scruggs type stuff really works well. Thanks very much for posting this!
