this was my 1st exposure to fnm when i was like 13 or so. also the second single i ever bought. i rang around record shops for half an hour trying to find one that had it in.
what a shame this show was axed. It was a show where proper music was played by indie and heavy rock acts that played 100% live. Much better than that hunched back git jools holland who's programme and bands r so bland.
brilliant, missed this live on tv as i was at the N.E.C Birmingham watching the mighty recently reformed Black Sabbath my flatmate at the time taped this for me the date was 5/12/97
Amazing! One of the best live TV musical performances of all time. I used to have this on VHS but I lost it. I love how Mike grabs another mic when his breaks! Does anyone have the 2nd time they played this song on the show?
Hey I went to the 98 gig at Rock City (Nottingham, UK right? Not the Detroit one or anything) - really glad I went as I had no idea it was the last tour they would do.
i also appeared on ths show. When they were rehearsing the whole building shook. Drummer is a great guy who let me have a go on his drums. While they played live on the show me and two mates were on the other half of the stage. A great show...I think Sinead O'Conner was on also and Billy Bragg.
They kicked him out in 1994 because it just wasn't working anymore. His relationship with the band was deteriorating anyways. BTW, his name was Jim Martin and he played with FNM for their first 4 records.
I gave up watching TFI Friday because I always thought Chris Evans was an utter tosser, Can't believe I missed this gem though. Ashes to Ashes = Ace song
Class. Just wish I'd seen that at the time. I always thought TFI Friday was pretty insufferable, but that would have justified it's existence (and my watching it).
I'm sure they did 2 performances - cos on this one his mike crapped out near the end!

i went out and bought this single after watching them on TFI.......good memories
