*I* have been reading studies and learning more & more about GLBT people that *I* know 4 over TEN years...I am NOT coming 2 the same conclusion that snakey there seems 2 B reaching. Perhaps these R just ENTIRELY different people, and there really IS a subtle (may-B even not so subtle) form of stereotyping going on with regard 2 these people AS A WHOLE...U know? I can't (especially with some engineering background) claim my personal experience 2 B the limit of reality, but neither can snakey...
I've heard the abomination argument far many more times than I care 2 count. The SOURCE of that term? Usually the Holy Scriptures of the Judeo-Christian tradition. WELL, we have something called "a wall of separation between Church and State" in this country (Thomas Jefferson, 1802). IF the "will of the people" was THAT sacred, we could just VOTE OUT *your* particular church organization, U know? THINK about that, & get off your damned high horse!!! Or they WILL come 4 *U* next...:^)
For those of you tired of NOM's lies: there's a new website up, by HRC. Fittingly called: NOM exposed. You'll learn a lot of not-so-pretty things about this organisation. Check it out! nomexposed(dot)org
And: SPREAD THE WORD!!! Spreading the truth is the only way to counter NOM's shameful tactics and campaing of hate.

It's more than Christian Values, its also a ton of other religions' values and also pretty much the way it works. Homosexuality it wrong and dangerous, research it if you don't believe me. And don't just call me a bigot because of this, I've been researching this whole deal for over 5 years now, reading studies and monitoring certain people I know (not creepily or stalker like). It's wrong and dangerous, same with promiscuity but that is another battle for another time.
@snake6483 So tell me something, is straight promiscuity dangerous. Is the straight lifestyle dangerous. What is the gay lifestyle? How is homosexuality dangerous in and of itself? I'll tell you what's dangerous--YOU spewing the inferiority of gay men and lesbians! YOU are dangerous because people like you tortured Seth Walsh, Asher Brown, Justin Aaberg, Tyler Clementi and were behind the death of 15 year old Lawrence King! YOU are dangerous!
@vidhead85 Yes straight promiscuity is dangerous, all of it is. You are a fool if you do not believe that. Look at the american pop culture and what it represents, that is dangerous. I do not value hurting others because of this, I instead wish only to educate people, but only if they wish to be educated. I cant do anything to a closed mind.
@snake6483 But you're not telling any one they can't get married because of this: What about my other ?s you dodged those completely What is the gay lifestyle? How is homosexuality dangerous in and of itself?
@vidhead85 The risk of disease and psychiatric illnesses spread at a much greater risk even to homosexuals who are monogamous. Countless studies have shown this and pointing to homophobia is no longer a valid argument against why homosexuals have more psychiatric problems that heterosexual couples. We live in dark times and this is not the worst thing happening in the world, over all I have found this issue to be going down in things our species needs to worry about, but that does not make it...
@snake6483 right. I would rather more focus be put into helping those in serious need, but I have seen a homosexual friend of mine destroy his life as he poured everything into trying to be "the best gay ever." He is now a wreck and does not know what to do with his life. I know there are gay people who are also good people, does that make their lifestyle a good thing? Not at all, but as long as they are helping the world out then it isn't a big problem.
@snake6483 And what study is that? Next, homophobia is the reason why many gay men have psychiatric issues beacause they are told that they are flawed, broken. You're blind to that. Also, what did your friend do to destroy his life. It's obviously some bad choices he made, not his sexual orientation or being gay. I know many people who are gay and happy because they made good choices. You're chalking behavior up to being gay. There's a difference
@vidhead85 Hall 1994, Israelstam 1986, Theo Sandfort, Ron de Graaf, et al., “Same-sex Sexual Behavior and Psychiatric Disorders, and many many more (I cant fit them all). My friend pushed all of us away because he didn't think we cared about him, we were trying to save him. He got caught up with a lot of bad people who used and abused him, he was passed around like meat and now is a wreck. There are good gays out there, I will not deny that, but I have not seen them myself. Yes, it was his...
@snake6483 bad choices that lead to that, but him being gay had a lot to do with those choices. I have been bullied as well, a lot of people are bullied. There are nerdy kids all over getting their butts kicked, yet their suicide rate is far lower. Getting pushed around pumped me up to be a stronger man and I was finally able to beat those who beat me before. A lot of people get bullied and a lot of people commit suicide, not just gays, there are levels of reasons why this happens...
@snake6483 I was kicked out of my home, rejected by my friends, beat up, pushed down, had things stolen from me, brother murdered. Did that stop me? No. you think gays are the only ones having a hard time? I use my crappy past to help those with depression and who are on the verge of suicide to change their minds and keep living. I help girls who get pregnant early whether it was their will or not to raise that kid and have the best life possible. Gays are not the only ones who need help.
@snake6483 So tell me something...what happened to him didn't happen to him because he was gay it was because he surrounded himself with the wrong people. Also, the suicide rates: Nerdy people have parents to run home to and explain WHY they got bullied. Gay students don't always have those avenues when you feel alone and rejected it opens you up to self destructive behaviors. Explaining your past is a red herring. You just dont want to admit that homophobia is a contributing factor here
@vidhead85 He went to them because they were gay and he was gay and felt he could get together with people who could understand him. He abandoned everyone who was trying to help him and was destroyed as a result. He left the positive influences on his life to continue a lifestyle of self destruction. Could he have found better people to be with? Perhaps, but I'm not sure if he could have found better people than us, we pushed him to finish high school, get a job and stay clean, he refused and...
@snake6483 ran away to join a lifestyle that is obviously destructive. Do straight people do this too? Of course, as I said earlier homosexuality is not the worst thing in the world, there are more important things to be doing and other people who need help even more that gays getting pushed around. It's not only gays who dont have parents to run home to. AS I said before, not only me but 2 friends of mine were thrown out before high school graduation. We are now days from graduating college...
@snake6483 He chose to run away instead of sticking with us to create a life we never thought possible, to have loving families and to craft a destiny like no other. Why? Because he chose to live a destructive gay lifestyle that embraces polygamy and expresses sexuality above all else. That is what destroyed him. That is what the gay life style looks like to me, that is what I see and what is shown everywhere. If I am wrong explain that to me so I may correct myself. But I look at the world...
@snake6483 So let us talk about Pride why don't we. Straight Pride, Mardi Gras and St Patty's Day are the two biggest times of the year when straight people get drunk and have random sex, but I don't see you saying anything about that. What about the 4th of July parades in big cities? Or maybe Memorial Day Parades, where people scope out others and have random sex to celebrate? You're attaching sexual orientation with sexual choices you make.
@vidhead85 As I said before I am against polygamy of all kinds, did you miss that? I am against the random drunkeness and pretty much everything about american culture. Even the straight stuff doesn't sit right with me, I tried to make that clear at the start but I guess I did not do a good enough job, now you know. I do not embrace that garbage, and I wish people didn't. Did you read any of the studies I posted here? Even in what may seem like "healthy" homosexual relations the people...
@snake6483 Involved had problems, higher depression, substance abuse, drinking, smoking, and a number of other issues. These are the "healthy" gays according to multiple studies done on a number of different subject all over the globe.
@snake6483 You were the one that brought up polygamy. Explain what you mean by polygamy--having mulitple sex partners--and besides, getting married helps settle you down so fight for us to get married then if you're against the random sex partners thing. Next, by your comments you never made it clear that you are against the straight promiscuity when you're bringing up that gay people do it. I don't know what studies you've read but it's when gays deny their orientation that they are miserable
@vidhead85 lol this is getting nowhere. I sent you information about the studies, names and dates, shouldnt be too hard to find them from here and see what I mean. The bad choice my friend made was to go all in on the gay thing and ruin everything he had going for him, if he wouldnt have gone for ot he would be finishing college with the rest of us, he is being convinced he is gay and always has been/will be but that cant be, people are not born gay. its a choice and he made that choice
@snake6483 The studies had nothing to do with your friend making a bad choice! That's what I kept telling you. HE made a bad CHOICE by hanging around people that were bad for him--not because they were gay! Being gay isn't harmful in and of itself, it's when you make bad choices and hang around bad people. I hang around people who are going places in life and I am not self destructive and as I said before but it's when gays deny their orientation that they are miserable
@vidhead85 He doesn't deny it and he is still miserable. Out of all of this though I hope you don't think I just attack the gay community, I say the same stuff to straight people who sleep all over the place more so than gays, especially if the gays are true to a partner, in fact I would stand be a gay person and put aside the differences to take a stand against the way society thinks its ok to have many partners (the spread of stds speaks loud enough).
@snake6483 My position has not changed but this has been an interesting conversation. I am glad you don't just shout and scream like most people do. The internet is pleased with your presence.
I will take what you said into consideration while doing future research, however I do still recommend you read those studies to see where I come from with this.
@snake6483 Yeah...still confusing his sexuality with his bad choices...sad! "I say the same stuff to straight people who sleep all over the place more so than gays" that quote has a distinct smell of bullshit to it
@vidhead85 I thought I was clear on that earlier, I'm sorry it didn't stick out. I do complain about American pop culture a lot though, the rise in STDs is a sign that people are doing something wrong. Also, I would say his choice of sexuality was his bad choice. Everything was fine until he did that.
@snake6483 It is clear...you're a bigot who thinks that just because someone's gay that automatically means they'll make bad choices. I see more straight couples making bad choices in partners who are abusive than gay couples, and it's not because they're gay or straight. It's because they don't like themselves. I don't blame it on their sexuality
@vidhead85 Actually the base of my stance on the issue relates directly to research and what I have seen. Yes straight people are not perfect, the human race sucks and it would be a lot better if we went extinct (see the world for more on that). homosexuality in my mind is just another thing we humans invented that cause problems. its not the only problem, its not the biggest problem, but it is indeed a problem
@vidhead85 So you think the world is good then? Perhaps you should open your eyes to what is happening around the world. And yes, I know sexual behavior and orientation are different, but they share something in common, they are choices.
@snake6483 Again. Like I said: Behavior and orientation are different. Did you choose to be straight? I never chose to be gay, why would I choose to be gay? Why would anyone choose to be gay? How the hell would you know if being gay is a choice if you aren't? Bullshit!
@vidhead85 Yes I chose to be straight. Yes my friend chose to be gay. Yes you chose to be gay. Why would someone choose that? Idk, some people just seem to like it. I am not gay nor have I done research into that so i cant say much about the why but I would guess that curiosity and experimentation gets them there, that and other people telling them they were born like that and have no choice but to go with it.
@snake6483 As I said before, I gave you tools earlier, research that talks about all of this, more are coming and they all point to the same thing. I still cant believe you think its bull crap that I believe that there are more important things out there to fight against though... genocides, starvation, poverty, abortion, abuse, the sex trade, drugs, suicide, rape I could go on forever.
@snake6483 Some things I can do something about, others not so much. Im just trying to make this crappy life on earth a little better for the few people that I know. Later I want to reach out to the masses and try to do anything I can to fix the problems of our troubled species. Am I perfect myself? No and I dont claim to be, but it doesn't take a genius to see how bad our species is and where we should focus on to make it a little better. If you still think its bull then open your eyes
@vidhead85 Unbelievable. You honestly think I believe that this is more important than genocide and the sex trade? I am shocked... I suggest you open your eyes to the world and see whats out there.
About the gay thing, you seem to be one of those who think its genetic, I'm sorry to inform you that it is not. Born or Bred by Robert Knight would be a good place to start with this topic.
@snake6483 Whenever did I say that you believe it's more important than genocide or the sex trade? Really? I know you are straight and you didn't choose it and I never chose to be gay,I chose to be open about it. Even if it were a choice--which it isn't, I don't see why people would say that to mean that you can take away our civil rights. And that title Born or bred sounds like a recruitment theory at work
@vidhead85 Every time you said "bullshit" you gave the impression that I was lying about what was important. Also, if it is not a choice... enlighten me =]
@snake6483 It ISN'T a choice. I know my own experiences and know myself a hell of a lot more than you do. I don't have to read something to validate them. It's funny how straight people say that being gay is a choice and they're not gay themselves...smh!
@vidhead85 In the beginning you always have a choice, there has not been anything that even comes close to saying that people are born that way except for gay activist extremists, and they have nothing to back it up other than "that's how it is." Sorry, it doesn't work that way. Once gone gay people convince themselves and each other that they have always been, that's not true at all. The placebo effect works in strange ways doesn't it?
@snake6483 Using tricks here. It's funny how you say:"that's how it is." when it suits your purpose. I am gay, I never chose it. I had a choice to be closeted or be open about my sexuality. I had no choice in my attraction to men
@vidhead85 I gave you facts and research to back those facts up, I have a lot more as well. I don't take my stance blindly and if I did I would be a fool. Why is it that people can go back and forth with this then? They do it all the time, it is a choice and you need to wake up to that. Have you read anything I gave you? Someone I know who thought was gay now is married to a beautiful wife and has 2 kids. They have been together for several years with no problems. Choices man... choices...
@snake6483 Yeah...he chose...such bullshit. Who is this someone you know? Who is this friend?....I'm starting to believe you made these people up to satisfy your bigotry
@vidhead85 Tony Alliason age 19 in the first one I told you about. He started questioning his sexuality in the beginning of high school. He was adopted into a family in the Philippines and them moved to the US with them. Now he is on his own and wont accept help from anyone unless they are gay, even though they are using him and we are trying to help him. The other, Jeremy Johnson Age 34. After college he struggled with it but now leads the church youth group and is a strong father.
@snake6483 Time for you to wake up. Once you've convinced yourself of something it can be very hard to see past it. But the truth is that people walk away from homosexuality all the time, people walk away from heterosexuality all the time. People go back and forth all the time. Why is that so hard for you to see? People make choices all the time and sometimes they change their minds. Stop convincing yourself of a lie and see this for what it truly is, a choice
@snake6483 Tony made a choice to trust untrustworthy people. You keep mixing up sexual orientation with sexual choices. You will never convince me that being gay is a choice. Being straight is not a choice, you like what you like and that's the way it is. Period.
@vidhead85 Not quite true, you grow into liking things. At first my brother was not really into horror movies but his friends were, he eventually started to like them and now loves them. A co worker of mine didn't like the idea of drinking at all when he was young, he turned 21 and didn't touch the stuff, by 23 he had his first and now he is 24 and drinks with his friends every weekend. I too grew into liking some things. Some people fall out of liking things. Homosexuality is no different
@snake6483 It's a little surprising that you can't see that. Especially considering the research and examples I've given you. I'm sure someone in the past has told you the same things I am telling you. A mind is a very hard thing to change though... no matter what it believes. A drug addict or alcoholic may believe their choices are not dangerous even if they almost die in their behavior. I know that these are all choices; experience and research show this. I am simply trying to spread the word
@vidhead85 You didn't answer my question. Not even close. FACT: People change their sexuality all the time. High school girls go back and forth sometimes on a monthly basis. As different people enter different stages of their lives they go from straight to gay or from gay to straight. It happens all the time. My question is: If it is not a choice why does this happen? Obviously people do choose their sexuality. Its not wired in your genes, no one is born one way or another.
@snake6483 I don't have to answer that because I don't know if sexuality is fixed or fluid and neither do I care. It's not a choice, for some people I guess it's fixed and for some it may be fluid. I really don't care. But your supposition that gay rights must not be granted because it's a choice simply says we're stubborn and all this would go away if we stopped being gay...BULLSHIT! You will never convince me that it's a choice because it's not and it wasn't for me
@vidhead85 Again, open your eyes. Things become clearer when you do that. Gay rights activists make it sound like gays are being treated like blacks back in the day. You can still get married to people as long as you marry according to what is defined as a marriage. You can still vote and you have all the rights I have. Unfortunately as I have stated earlier the world sucks and there is not a lot that can be done about it. Homosexuality leads to a lot of problems (you know this)...
@snake6483 Not only that but so does polygamy and many other things, what can we do about that? Not a lot. Should we do something about that? I say yes, you say no. Whats going to happen in the end? Knowing the direction the world is heading in your side will end up winning and the problems that I and others have been warning everyone about will start to come out and we will see just how bad it is. Look at the spread of STDs, if people could just stick to one partner that would not be an issue
@snake6483 Gay people are being treated like blacks...and I should know, I am gay and black. I can't get married to the person that I want to marry that is irreplaceable to me--slaves couldn't marry but the recognition of those marriages were skittishly recognized. I DON'T have the same rights you have at the federal level when you get married and homophobia, not homosexuality--esp internalized homophobia leads to self destruction--get your head out of ur ass
@snake6483 You know exactly what I'm talking about. Those people who are strung out on drugs because their families rejected them and tossed them out. Those who have addiction because they want to pray it away and it's not going away. Republican lawmakers who make anitgay laws and then are caught with gay prostitutes. All these things, and many others
@vidhead85 People get rejected from their families and get addicted to drugs for other reasons and end up in the same boat. Gays are not the only ones who need help. Most people who pray for help do not truly believe in God with all their heart, mind, body and soul. Even in countries where homosexuality is not an issue people show the same negative signs. They don't have people on them about it at all and still get depressed. Read what I gave you and things will start to get a little clearer
@snake6483 Stop trying to dilute this by saying that gays aren't the only ones who need help. Like I said gays are the only minority that gets routinely rejected from their homes. Just because homosexuality is 'not an issue' in some countries doesn't mean that internalized homophobia and familial homophobia doesn't bring forth negativity....you lost that battle dude
@vidhead85 A whole bunch of stuff brings forth negativity. Instead of lying to them saying there is no way to change what you should be doing is telling them they have a choice, persevere through the objections or go straight to avoid the problems. That choice will undoubtedly save lives. It's also truth. Lost that battle? You have completely accepted and are holding onto a lie. You seriously need to read that stuff I gave you and others like it.
@snake6483 No way dude! You think you're helping the negativity but you're only contributing to it. Go straight and avoid the problems? yeah...that's like telling me I should be white and I won't have to deal with the problems of how society looks at black men...same struggle same fight...civil rights are mine regardless of how different I am from another--equal protection under the law doesn't mean that I'm having to be the same to enjoy the same protection
@vidhead85 You're doing it wrong. Being gay and being black are two completely different things, one is a choice, the other isn't. If people don't have what it takes to handle the pressure that will obviously come then why try to convince them that there is no other way? Telling people there is no choice leads to hopelessness, that contributes to the negativity. There is more to it but it doesn't seem like you've taken the time to educate yourself with it all yet.
@snake6483 While the article suggested that homosexuals may be pushed to substance abuse and suicide because of anti-homosexual cultural and family pressures, empirical tests have shown that there is no difference in homosexual health risk depending on the level of tolerance in a particular environment.
@snake6483 Homosexuals in the United States and Denmark - the latter of which is acknowledged to be highly tolerant of homosexuality - both die on average in their early 50's, or in their 40's if AIDS is the cause of death. The average age for all residents in either country ranges from the mid-to-upper-70s.
@snake6483 Dr. Rick Fitzgibbons says there is evidence that homosexuality is itself a manifestation of a psychological disorder accompanied by a host of mental health problems, including "major depression, suicidal ideation and attempts, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, conduct disorder, low self-esteem in males and sexual promiscuity with an inability to maintain committed relationships."
@snake6483 There. Got some info for you since you don't want to go out and get the research done yourself. This is a starting place. At least we got something in common though, you being black and me being Mexican we both know how crappy things can get with a lot of people. I'm surprised our species still looks at race first and individuals second. You gotta agree that the human race pretty much sucks =/
@snake6483 Too bad Dr. Rick Fitzgibbons is not part of the American Psychological Association which all (some 150+ scientists) UNANIMOUSLY AGREED that Gay marriage should be approved and BEING GAY is NOT a choice NOR is it a psychological disorder. Dude..honestly? Grow up, you're blabbering hatred like a 5 year old.
@snake6483 The only choice was to accept that I'm gay or be closeted...that was the choice, not the attraction. They always show you the wedding photos but not the divorce papers
@snake6483 Also, straight people believe in polygamy--apparently you missed sister wives. You also missed the fact that in bars STRAIGHT people are getting together and having random sex and express sexuality above all else. Next, you aren't gay so how do you know so much about a lifestyle you don't live? You are only mentioning sex--which when people have reckless sex regardless of orientation, IT is destructive--not them being gay or straight. And really, you had to talk about pride?
@snake6483 Okay...your first two words indicate an action on his part--HE WENT--that means that he did something. Next, what is the lifestyle? You keep on mentioning a destructive lifestyle--what is it? And why do you equate being gay with self destruction. I know many who are gay and haven't engaged in self destructive behaviors. Gay people don't embrace polygamy and it's not all about sex for us but living our lives free of intrusion as long as we are not doing anything to harm anyone else
@snake6483 It's everyone's fault but the people who make them feel worthless, and helpless those who call them terrible things and then you claim that their sexual orientation is destructive. Nice one
@snake6483 Also, I don't think you've heard about those five suicides last year because those kids were bullied to death? You didn't hear about Zach in Norman OK when they called him a child molester, pedophile, sick person, pervert? I guess that doesn't contribute to the mental health issues? I guess kids being kicked out of their family homes as gays are the only minority to be rejected by their families has nothing to do with it...live in your fantasy world while I help ppl with real problems
Great video, but have you considered running it on television or elsewhere? I ask because the people who need to see this the most probably aren't following Stop8.org.
"Public support for marriage equality is at an all-time high and goes up just about every year. As it does in every state, every year and will continue to do until such time as we are all incredibly embarrassed that ads like these were ever even made."
One more thing: If Stop8.org had been running the campaign against Prop H8, the damned thing would have failed. I wish I could have given my money to you guys instead of... well, instead.
Fantastic take-down! At the end of the day, NOM has no rational basis for its bigotry, and the NOMMERS know that. Bereft of its bald-faced lies and shameless propaganda, NOM has nothing. Literally, nothing.
Thank you for pointing that out with such intelligence and clarity.
Nice job, stop8org. And the time when I'm embarrassed about ads like NOM's is: now. To the scared & bigoted: full gay rights nationwide *are* coming. Start wrapping your parochial little minds around it and your mental health will survive better.
This is about the holier-than-thou crowd imposing right wing Christian religious values on everyone else. Funny how truth does not seem to be a valued value.
Going back to the reemergence of the Klan in the 1920's, tyranny is usually wrapped in the American flag - carrying a bible (New Testament of course). What is really scary here is that they are trying to intimidate the judiciary who have an absolute duty to rule without regard to popularity.
@CriticalThinker1000 "Christian Values" has nothing to do wih gay marriage. Jesus said that homosexuality was okay, but today christians love to pick and choose what they listen to.
Most people FORGOT that the Judicial Branch is to protect the Minority for the Majority. The WILL of the people is not the RIGHT of the people. So, yea, it is kinda their job to ignore the WILL of the people. If people got to vote on everything we still have Slavery and such. But then again, the regurgitation of old "buzz words" get stuck in peoples head and "make them true". And that is what NOM and the other Mormons/religious high ups want.
The roll of a judge is to interpret the laws passed by legislation, whether those laws are for or against popular opinion. But you must know that laws that are passed by legislation are representations of the will of the people. Judges are also supposed to interpret the will of the law and it’s intened purpose. I don’t know where you people get the idea that purpose of the judicial system is to protect the minority for the majority, that’s not what its there for at all
@Yereviltwin2 THAT idea comes from the Supreme Court Case WEST VIRGINIA BOARD OF EDUCATION V. BARNETTE, 1947. I strongly suggest that you read that entire case, and one of the key quotations FROM said case appears inside of the Honorable Vaughn R. Walker's ruling. There are many OTHER such rulings, by the way, so if you did your research a bit more thoroughly, U would DEFINITELY know "where people get that idea." U may disagree with it, but the judiciary generally upholds it in certain cases.
The US is a govt for the people by the people. People have for centuries seen gay marriage as an abomination. The people have voted against this abomination. That is the will of the people. For a judge to usurp the will of the people and the fundamental purpose of the court is outrageous. Its only by the will of the people that we should allow perverted lifestyles recognized by law. We’ll have better social harmony if laws are changed by the will of the people instead of by a judge
@Yereviltwin2 Protect the minority from the majority is what the courts are supposed to do. Why? Because the founding fathers knew how terrible mob rule can be to pass any law that they wanted. The judges rule on THE LAW and have to determine what the law was intended to do, and look at the background of the law. Many people call them activist judges when they don't rule their way, but you didn't say the same of WI, WA, GA, LA courts when they upheld their marriage bans
@Darevsek Exactly. And what people who find themselves in any particular arbitrary majority voting against the equal rights of any particular arbitrary minority, fail to realize, is that THEY TOO could find themselves in any particular arbitrary minority. That is why our Constitution protects against such actions by the people. Because ANYONE can be lumped into any of numerous minority classifications. So the Constitution protects the rights and equality under law of EVERY citizen.
@EmeraldView YES, it does, though specific and proper enforcement of that principle takes TIME as cases like these funnel through the judicial process to guarantee that the Supreme Law of the Land is duly ENFORCED and UPHELD.
Seriously? "Ignoring the will of the people is kinda their job." Who on earth thought that would resonate with undecided voters? And these two lines: "That wasn't a complete sentence," "consult Clippy," and "visit your local library" -- WTF? Condescension and sarcasm may be fun to engage in, but they are hardly persuasive. Morons. Well intentioned morons, to be sure, but morons nonetheless.
@kyoungxx NOM's ideas and messages should be met with mean sarcasm. Because their messages are idiotic and they don't make any sense whatsoever. Consider what they keep saying about gay people. Pretty hateful stuff. I'm not going to be polite to them if they keep saying the same old anti-gay bull crap to take away my rights.
@HenhousetheRed I hear you and agree completely with you about NOM and what they deserve. The most important issue, however, is stopping NOM in the upcoming judicial retention elections. The audience is not NOM but Iowa voters, and the measure is what works best. This would work much better without the condescension and sarcasm. And, I suspect, the ugly tone -- not simply negative but ugly -- will turn off some voters without persuading any voters. What else matters?
@bearchewtoy75 No, name calling isn't persusavie generally, and it wasn't persuasive when I just did it. I'm not sure I was actually trying to persuade anyone. Instead I think I was venting, which was indulgent. I should have been trying to persuade people, and I wish I hadn't name called. Thanks.
You cant tell if it is intentionally misleading .....
Of course judges hide their adgenda. With so much out of state money from Tim Gill and friends flowing in Iowa for years, stop being ignorants and tried to mislead us.
@newjerseyequality Like NOM hasn't funneled in money to political candidates and court cases AND elections to fund their own bullshit 'traditionalist' agenda? I'm in a state where NOM tried to futz around with our equality and they got beaten down. They're still trying to hide the names of the cowards and haters who signed petitions to get Referendum 71 on the state ballot.
Hate whoever you want. Just don't expect the government to do your hating for you.
This guy is very clearly a moron who clearly has no idea what he is talking about! Go Iowa!

Ouuuuhhhhh! Yes, homosexuality is dangerous!!! Take cover! The dark, menacing homosexual is coming after yoooouuuuuuu! *Not...*
Skulander1 1 year ago
It's more than Christian Values, its also a ton of other religions' values and also pretty much the way it works. Homosexuality it wrong and dangerous, research it if you don't believe me. And don't just call me a bigot because of this, I've been researching this whole deal for over 5 years now, reading studies and monitoring certain people I know (not creepily or stalker like). It's wrong and dangerous, same with promiscuity but that is another battle for another time.
snake6483 1 year ago
@snake6483 So tell me something, is straight promiscuity dangerous. Is the straight lifestyle dangerous. What is the gay lifestyle? How is homosexuality dangerous in and of itself? I'll tell you what's dangerous--YOU spewing the inferiority of gay men and lesbians! YOU are dangerous because people like you tortured Seth Walsh, Asher Brown, Justin Aaberg, Tyler Clementi and were behind the death of 15 year old Lawrence King! YOU are dangerous!
vidhead85 10 months ago
@vidhead85 Yes straight promiscuity is dangerous, all of it is. You are a fool if you do not believe that. Look at the american pop culture and what it represents, that is dangerous. I do not value hurting others because of this, I instead wish only to educate people, but only if they wish to be educated. I cant do anything to a closed mind.
snake6483 10 months ago
@snake6483 But you're not telling any one they can't get married because of this: What about my other ?s you dodged those completely What is the gay lifestyle? How is homosexuality dangerous in and of itself?
vidhead85 10 months ago
@vidhead85 The risk of disease and psychiatric illnesses spread at a much greater risk even to homosexuals who are monogamous. Countless studies have shown this and pointing to homophobia is no longer a valid argument against why homosexuals have more psychiatric problems that heterosexual couples. We live in dark times and this is not the worst thing happening in the world, over all I have found this issue to be going down in things our species needs to worry about, but that does not make it...
snake6483 10 months ago
@snake6483 right. I would rather more focus be put into helping those in serious need, but I have seen a homosexual friend of mine destroy his life as he poured everything into trying to be "the best gay ever." He is now a wreck and does not know what to do with his life. I know there are gay people who are also good people, does that make their lifestyle a good thing? Not at all, but as long as they are helping the world out then it isn't a big problem.
snake6483 10 months ago
@snake6483 And what study is that? Next, homophobia is the reason why many gay men have psychiatric issues beacause they are told that they are flawed, broken. You're blind to that. Also, what did your friend do to destroy his life. It's obviously some bad choices he made, not his sexual orientation or being gay. I know many people who are gay and happy because they made good choices. You're chalking behavior up to being gay. There's a difference
vidhead85 10 months ago
@vidhead85 Hall 1994, Israelstam 1986, Theo Sandfort, Ron de Graaf, et al., “Same-sex Sexual Behavior and Psychiatric Disorders, and many many more (I cant fit them all). My friend pushed all of us away because he didn't think we cared about him, we were trying to save him. He got caught up with a lot of bad people who used and abused him, he was passed around like meat and now is a wreck. There are good gays out there, I will not deny that, but I have not seen them myself. Yes, it was his...
snake6483 10 months ago
@snake6483 bad choices that lead to that, but him being gay had a lot to do with those choices. I have been bullied as well, a lot of people are bullied. There are nerdy kids all over getting their butts kicked, yet their suicide rate is far lower. Getting pushed around pumped me up to be a stronger man and I was finally able to beat those who beat me before. A lot of people get bullied and a lot of people commit suicide, not just gays, there are levels of reasons why this happens...
snake6483 10 months ago
@snake6483 I was kicked out of my home, rejected by my friends, beat up, pushed down, had things stolen from me, brother murdered. Did that stop me? No. you think gays are the only ones having a hard time? I use my crappy past to help those with depression and who are on the verge of suicide to change their minds and keep living. I help girls who get pregnant early whether it was their will or not to raise that kid and have the best life possible. Gays are not the only ones who need help.
snake6483 10 months ago
@snake6483 No it didn't your friend made some terrible choices, accept it
vidhead85 10 months ago
@snake6483 So tell me something...what happened to him didn't happen to him because he was gay it was because he surrounded himself with the wrong people. Also, the suicide rates: Nerdy people have parents to run home to and explain WHY they got bullied. Gay students don't always have those avenues when you feel alone and rejected it opens you up to self destructive behaviors. Explaining your past is a red herring. You just dont want to admit that homophobia is a contributing factor here
vidhead85 10 months ago
@vidhead85 He went to them because they were gay and he was gay and felt he could get together with people who could understand him. He abandoned everyone who was trying to help him and was destroyed as a result. He left the positive influences on his life to continue a lifestyle of self destruction. Could he have found better people to be with? Perhaps, but I'm not sure if he could have found better people than us, we pushed him to finish high school, get a job and stay clean, he refused and...
snake6483 10 months ago
@snake6483 ran away to join a lifestyle that is obviously destructive. Do straight people do this too? Of course, as I said earlier homosexuality is not the worst thing in the world, there are more important things to be doing and other people who need help even more that gays getting pushed around. It's not only gays who dont have parents to run home to. AS I said before, not only me but 2 friends of mine were thrown out before high school graduation. We are now days from graduating college...
snake6483 10 months ago
@snake6483 He chose to run away instead of sticking with us to create a life we never thought possible, to have loving families and to craft a destiny like no other. Why? Because he chose to live a destructive gay lifestyle that embraces polygamy and expresses sexuality above all else. That is what destroyed him. That is what the gay life style looks like to me, that is what I see and what is shown everywhere. If I am wrong explain that to me so I may correct myself. But I look at the world...
snake6483 10 months ago
@snake6483 And that is what I see, look at pop culture, look and these gay pride parades, look at everything.
snake6483 10 months ago
@snake6483 So let us talk about Pride why don't we. Straight Pride, Mardi Gras and St Patty's Day are the two biggest times of the year when straight people get drunk and have random sex, but I don't see you saying anything about that. What about the 4th of July parades in big cities? Or maybe Memorial Day Parades, where people scope out others and have random sex to celebrate? You're attaching sexual orientation with sexual choices you make.
vidhead85 10 months ago
@vidhead85 As I said before I am against polygamy of all kinds, did you miss that? I am against the random drunkeness and pretty much everything about american culture. Even the straight stuff doesn't sit right with me, I tried to make that clear at the start but I guess I did not do a good enough job, now you know. I do not embrace that garbage, and I wish people didn't. Did you read any of the studies I posted here? Even in what may seem like "healthy" homosexual relations the people...
snake6483 10 months ago
@snake6483 Involved had problems, higher depression, substance abuse, drinking, smoking, and a number of other issues. These are the "healthy" gays according to multiple studies done on a number of different subject all over the globe.
snake6483 10 months ago
@snake6483 You were the one that brought up polygamy. Explain what you mean by polygamy--having mulitple sex partners--and besides, getting married helps settle you down so fight for us to get married then if you're against the random sex partners thing. Next, by your comments you never made it clear that you are against the straight promiscuity when you're bringing up that gay people do it. I don't know what studies you've read but it's when gays deny their orientation that they are miserable
vidhead85 10 months ago
@vidhead85 lol this is getting nowhere. I sent you information about the studies, names and dates, shouldnt be too hard to find them from here and see what I mean. The bad choice my friend made was to go all in on the gay thing and ruin everything he had going for him, if he wouldnt have gone for ot he would be finishing college with the rest of us, he is being convinced he is gay and always has been/will be but that cant be, people are not born gay. its a choice and he made that choice
snake6483 10 months ago
@snake6483 The studies had nothing to do with your friend making a bad choice! That's what I kept telling you. HE made a bad CHOICE by hanging around people that were bad for him--not because they were gay! Being gay isn't harmful in and of itself, it's when you make bad choices and hang around bad people. I hang around people who are going places in life and I am not self destructive and as I said before but it's when gays deny their orientation that they are miserable
vidhead85 10 months ago
@vidhead85 He doesn't deny it and he is still miserable. Out of all of this though I hope you don't think I just attack the gay community, I say the same stuff to straight people who sleep all over the place more so than gays, especially if the gays are true to a partner, in fact I would stand be a gay person and put aside the differences to take a stand against the way society thinks its ok to have many partners (the spread of stds speaks loud enough).
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 My position has not changed but this has been an interesting conversation. I am glad you don't just shout and scream like most people do. The internet is pleased with your presence.
I will take what you said into consideration while doing future research, however I do still recommend you read those studies to see where I come from with this.
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 Yeah...still confusing his sexuality with his bad choices...sad! "I say the same stuff to straight people who sleep all over the place more so than gays" that quote has a distinct smell of bullshit to it
vidhead85 9 months ago
@vidhead85 I thought I was clear on that earlier, I'm sorry it didn't stick out. I do complain about American pop culture a lot though, the rise in STDs is a sign that people are doing something wrong. Also, I would say his choice of sexuality was his bad choice. Everything was fine until he did that.
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 It is clear...you're a bigot who thinks that just because someone's gay that automatically means they'll make bad choices. I see more straight couples making bad choices in partners who are abusive than gay couples, and it's not because they're gay or straight. It's because they don't like themselves. I don't blame it on their sexuality
vidhead85 9 months ago
@vidhead85 Actually the base of my stance on the issue relates directly to research and what I have seen. Yes straight people are not perfect, the human race sucks and it would be a lot better if we went extinct (see the world for more on that). homosexuality in my mind is just another thing we humans invented that cause problems. its not the only problem, its not the biggest problem, but it is indeed a problem
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 Like I said; the distinct smell of bullshit invades my nostrils. Sexual behavior and sexual orientation are two different things pal
vidhead85 9 months ago
@vidhead85 So you think the world is good then? Perhaps you should open your eyes to what is happening around the world. And yes, I know sexual behavior and orientation are different, but they share something in common, they are choices.
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 Again. Like I said: Behavior and orientation are different. Did you choose to be straight? I never chose to be gay, why would I choose to be gay? Why would anyone choose to be gay? How the hell would you know if being gay is a choice if you aren't? Bullshit!
vidhead85 9 months ago
@vidhead85 Yes I chose to be straight. Yes my friend chose to be gay. Yes you chose to be gay. Why would someone choose that? Idk, some people just seem to like it. I am not gay nor have I done research into that so i cant say much about the why but I would guess that curiosity and experimentation gets them there, that and other people telling them they were born like that and have no choice but to go with it.
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 As I said before, I gave you tools earlier, research that talks about all of this, more are coming and they all point to the same thing. I still cant believe you think its bull crap that I believe that there are more important things out there to fight against though... genocides, starvation, poverty, abortion, abuse, the sex trade, drugs, suicide, rape I could go on forever.
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 Some things I can do something about, others not so much. Im just trying to make this crappy life on earth a little better for the few people that I know. Later I want to reach out to the masses and try to do anything I can to fix the problems of our troubled species. Am I perfect myself? No and I dont claim to be, but it doesn't take a genius to see how bad our species is and where we should focus on to make it a little better. If you still think its bull then open your eyes
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 Bullshit!
vidhead85 9 months ago
@vidhead85 Unbelievable. You honestly think I believe that this is more important than genocide and the sex trade? I am shocked... I suggest you open your eyes to the world and see whats out there.
About the gay thing, you seem to be one of those who think its genetic, I'm sorry to inform you that it is not. Born or Bred by Robert Knight would be a good place to start with this topic.
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 Whenever did I say that you believe it's more important than genocide or the sex trade? Really? I know you are straight and you didn't choose it and I never chose to be gay,I chose to be open about it. Even if it were a choice--which it isn't, I don't see why people would say that to mean that you can take away our civil rights. And that title Born or bred sounds like a recruitment theory at work
vidhead85 9 months ago
@vidhead85 Every time you said "bullshit" you gave the impression that I was lying about what was important. Also, if it is not a choice... enlighten me =]
Have you read it yet?
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 It ISN'T a choice. I know my own experiences and know myself a hell of a lot more than you do. I don't have to read something to validate them. It's funny how straight people say that being gay is a choice and they're not gay themselves...smh!
vidhead85 9 months ago
@vidhead85 In the beginning you always have a choice, there has not been anything that even comes close to saying that people are born that way except for gay activist extremists, and they have nothing to back it up other than "that's how it is." Sorry, it doesn't work that way. Once gone gay people convince themselves and each other that they have always been, that's not true at all. The placebo effect works in strange ways doesn't it?
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 Using tricks here. It's funny how you say:"that's how it is." when it suits your purpose. I am gay, I never chose it. I had a choice to be closeted or be open about my sexuality. I had no choice in my attraction to men
vidhead85 9 months ago
@vidhead85 I gave you facts and research to back those facts up, I have a lot more as well. I don't take my stance blindly and if I did I would be a fool. Why is it that people can go back and forth with this then? They do it all the time, it is a choice and you need to wake up to that. Have you read anything I gave you? Someone I know who thought was gay now is married to a beautiful wife and has 2 kids. They have been together for several years with no problems. Choices man... choices...
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 Yeah...he chose...such bullshit. Who is this someone you know? Who is this friend?....I'm starting to believe you made these people up to satisfy your bigotry
vidhead85 9 months ago
@vidhead85 Tony Alliason age 19 in the first one I told you about. He started questioning his sexuality in the beginning of high school. He was adopted into a family in the Philippines and them moved to the US with them. Now he is on his own and wont accept help from anyone unless they are gay, even though they are using him and we are trying to help him. The other, Jeremy Johnson Age 34. After college he struggled with it but now leads the church youth group and is a strong father.
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 Time for you to wake up. Once you've convinced yourself of something it can be very hard to see past it. But the truth is that people walk away from homosexuality all the time, people walk away from heterosexuality all the time. People go back and forth all the time. Why is that so hard for you to see? People make choices all the time and sometimes they change their minds. Stop convincing yourself of a lie and see this for what it truly is, a choice
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 Tony made a choice to trust untrustworthy people. You keep mixing up sexual orientation with sexual choices. You will never convince me that being gay is a choice. Being straight is not a choice, you like what you like and that's the way it is. Period.
vidhead85 9 months ago
@vidhead85 Not quite true, you grow into liking things. At first my brother was not really into horror movies but his friends were, he eventually started to like them and now loves them. A co worker of mine didn't like the idea of drinking at all when he was young, he turned 21 and didn't touch the stuff, by 23 he had his first and now he is 24 and drinks with his friends every weekend. I too grew into liking some things. Some people fall out of liking things. Homosexuality is no different
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 It's a little surprising that you can't see that. Especially considering the research and examples I've given you. I'm sure someone in the past has told you the same things I am telling you. A mind is a very hard thing to change though... no matter what it believes. A drug addict or alcoholic may believe their choices are not dangerous even if they almost die in their behavior. I know that these are all choices; experience and research show this. I am simply trying to spread the word
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 You already know that it's not a fair comparison. Sexual orientation is not chosen. It's a reality
vidhead85 9 months ago
@vidhead85 If it is not chosen then why do people go in and out of it all the time?
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 People don't choose their sexuality. Attraction is not the choice
vidhead85 9 months ago
@vidhead85 You didn't answer my question. Not even close. FACT: People change their sexuality all the time. High school girls go back and forth sometimes on a monthly basis. As different people enter different stages of their lives they go from straight to gay or from gay to straight. It happens all the time. My question is: If it is not a choice why does this happen? Obviously people do choose their sexuality. Its not wired in your genes, no one is born one way or another.
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 I don't have to answer that because I don't know if sexuality is fixed or fluid and neither do I care. It's not a choice, for some people I guess it's fixed and for some it may be fluid. I really don't care. But your supposition that gay rights must not be granted because it's a choice simply says we're stubborn and all this would go away if we stopped being gay...BULLSHIT! You will never convince me that it's a choice because it's not and it wasn't for me
vidhead85 9 months ago
@vidhead85 Again, open your eyes. Things become clearer when you do that. Gay rights activists make it sound like gays are being treated like blacks back in the day. You can still get married to people as long as you marry according to what is defined as a marriage. You can still vote and you have all the rights I have. Unfortunately as I have stated earlier the world sucks and there is not a lot that can be done about it. Homosexuality leads to a lot of problems (you know this)...
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 Not only that but so does polygamy and many other things, what can we do about that? Not a lot. Should we do something about that? I say yes, you say no. Whats going to happen in the end? Knowing the direction the world is heading in your side will end up winning and the problems that I and others have been warning everyone about will start to come out and we will see just how bad it is. Look at the spread of STDs, if people could just stick to one partner that would not be an issue
snake6483 9 months ago
@snake6483 Gay people are being treated like blacks...and I should know, I am gay and black. I can't get married to the person that I want to marry that is irreplaceable to me--slaves couldn't marry but the recognition of those marriages were skittishly recognized. I DON'T have the same rights you have at the federal level when you get married and homophobia, not homosexuality--esp internalized homophobia leads to self destruction--get your head out of ur ass
vidhead85 8 months ago
@vidhead85 "internalized homophobia leads to self destruction" what are you talking about?
snake6483 8 months ago
@snake6483 You know exactly what I'm talking about. Those people who are strung out on drugs because their families rejected them and tossed them out. Those who have addiction because they want to pray it away and it's not going away. Republican lawmakers who make anitgay laws and then are caught with gay prostitutes. All these things, and many others
vidhead85 8 months ago
@vidhead85 People get rejected from their families and get addicted to drugs for other reasons and end up in the same boat. Gays are not the only ones who need help. Most people who pray for help do not truly believe in God with all their heart, mind, body and soul. Even in countries where homosexuality is not an issue people show the same negative signs. They don't have people on them about it at all and still get depressed. Read what I gave you and things will start to get a little clearer
snake6483 8 months ago
@snake6483 Stop trying to dilute this by saying that gays aren't the only ones who need help. Like I said gays are the only minority that gets routinely rejected from their homes. Just because homosexuality is 'not an issue' in some countries doesn't mean that internalized homophobia and familial homophobia doesn't bring forth negativity....you lost that battle dude
vidhead85 8 months ago
@vidhead85 A whole bunch of stuff brings forth negativity. Instead of lying to them saying there is no way to change what you should be doing is telling them they have a choice, persevere through the objections or go straight to avoid the problems. That choice will undoubtedly save lives. It's also truth. Lost that battle? You have completely accepted and are holding onto a lie. You seriously need to read that stuff I gave you and others like it.
snake6483 8 months ago
@snake6483 No way dude! You think you're helping the negativity but you're only contributing to it. Go straight and avoid the problems? yeah...that's like telling me I should be white and I won't have to deal with the problems of how society looks at black men...same struggle same fight...civil rights are mine regardless of how different I am from another--equal protection under the law doesn't mean that I'm having to be the same to enjoy the same protection
vidhead85 8 months ago
@vidhead85 You're doing it wrong. Being gay and being black are two completely different things, one is a choice, the other isn't. If people don't have what it takes to handle the pressure that will obviously come then why try to convince them that there is no other way? Telling people there is no choice leads to hopelessness, that contributes to the negativity. There is more to it but it doesn't seem like you've taken the time to educate yourself with it all yet.
snake6483 8 months ago
@snake6483 While the article suggested that homosexuals may be pushed to substance abuse and suicide because of anti-homosexual cultural and family pressures, empirical tests have shown that there is no difference in homosexual health risk depending on the level of tolerance in a particular environment.
snake6483 8 months ago
@snake6483 Homosexuals in the United States and Denmark - the latter of which is acknowledged to be highly tolerant of homosexuality - both die on average in their early 50's, or in their 40's if AIDS is the cause of death. The average age for all residents in either country ranges from the mid-to-upper-70s.
snake6483 8 months ago
@snake6483 Dr. Rick Fitzgibbons says there is evidence that homosexuality is itself a manifestation of a psychological disorder accompanied by a host of mental health problems, including "major depression, suicidal ideation and attempts, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, conduct disorder, low self-esteem in males and sexual promiscuity with an inability to maintain committed relationships."
snake6483 8 months ago
@snake6483 There. Got some info for you since you don't want to go out and get the research done yourself. This is a starting place. At least we got something in common though, you being black and me being Mexican we both know how crappy things can get with a lot of people. I'm surprised our species still looks at race first and individuals second. You gotta agree that the human race pretty much sucks =/
snake6483 8 months ago
@snake6483 Too bad Dr. Rick Fitzgibbons is not part of the American Psychological Association which all (some 150+ scientists) UNANIMOUSLY AGREED that Gay marriage should be approved and BEING GAY is NOT a choice NOR is it a psychological disorder. Dude..honestly? Grow up, you're blabbering hatred like a 5 year old.

@vidhead85 How is it not a choice?
snake6483 8 months ago
@snake6483 The only choice was to accept that I'm gay or be closeted...that was the choice, not the attraction. They always show you the wedding photos but not the divorce papers
vidhead85 9 months ago
@snake6483 Also, straight people believe in polygamy--apparently you missed sister wives. You also missed the fact that in bars STRAIGHT people are getting together and having random sex and express sexuality above all else. Next, you aren't gay so how do you know so much about a lifestyle you don't live? You are only mentioning sex--which when people have reckless sex regardless of orientation, IT is destructive--not them being gay or straight. And really, you had to talk about pride?
vidhead85 10 months ago

Nice one
vidhead85 10 months ago
@snake6483 Also, I don't think you've heard about those five suicides last year because those kids were bullied to death? You didn't hear about Zach in Norman OK when they called him a child molester, pedophile, sick person, pervert? I guess that doesn't contribute to the mental health issues? I guess kids being kicked out of their family homes as gays are the only minority to be rejected by their families has nothing to do with it...live in your fantasy world while I help ppl with real problems

I'm already embarrassed that ads like these were ever made (NOM"s, not this video).

Great video, but have you considered running it on television or elsewhere? I ask because the people who need to see this the most probably aren't following Stop8.org.

Well-done video. Hopefully, the day will soon come when all people have equal rights.

Great video! Also, as a general reminder to the able-minded folk, "Do not feed the trolls."

CriticalThinker1000 1 year ago 12

Darevsek 1 year ago 14
@Darevsek
The roll of a judge is to interpret the laws passed by legislation, whether those laws are for or against popular opinion. But you must know that laws that are passed by legislation are representations of the will of the people. Judges are also supposed to interpret the will of the law and it’s intened purpose. I don’t know where you people get the idea that purpose of the judicial system is to protect the minority for the majority, that’s not what its there for at all
Yereviltwin2 1 year ago
@Yereviltwin2 THAT idea comes from the Supreme Court Case WEST VIRGINIA BOARD OF EDUCATION V. BARNETTE, 1947. I strongly suggest that you read that entire case, and one of the key quotations FROM said case appears inside of the Honorable Vaughn R. Walker's ruling. There are many OTHER such rulings, by the way, so if you did your research a bit more thoroughly, U would DEFINITELY know "where people get that idea." U may disagree with it, but the judiciary generally upholds it in certain cases.
bimboblacky 1 year ago
@bimbo
Yereviltwin2 1 year ago
@Yereviltwin2 Protect the minority from the majority is what the courts are supposed to do. Why? Because the founding fathers knew how terrible mob rule can be to pass any law that they wanted. The judges rule on THE LAW and have to determine what the law was intended to do, and look at the background of the law. Many people call them activist judges when they don't rule their way, but you didn't say the same of WI, WA, GA, LA courts when they upheld their marriage bans
vidhead85 10 months ago
@Darevsek Exactly. And what people who find themselves in any particular arbitrary majority voting against the equal rights of any particular arbitrary minority, fail to realize, is that THEY TOO could find themselves in any particular arbitrary minority. That is why our Constitution protects against such actions by the people. Because ANYONE can be lumped into any of numerous minority classifications. So the Constitution protects the rights and equality under law of EVERY citizen.
EmeraldView 1 year ago
@EmeraldView YES, it does, though specific and proper enforcement of that principle takes TIME as cases like these funnel through the judicial process to guarantee that the Supreme Law of the Land is duly ENFORCED and UPHELD.

Seriously? "Ignoring the will of the people is kinda their job." Who on earth thought that would resonate with undecided voters? And these two lines: "That wasn't a complete sentence," "consult Clippy," and "visit your local library" -- WTF? Condescension and sarcasm may be fun to engage in, but they are hardly persuasive. Morons. Well intentioned morons, to be sure, but morons nonetheless.
kyoungxx 1 year ago
@kyoungxx NOM's ideas and messages should be met with mean sarcasm. Because their messages are idiotic and they don't make any sense whatsoever. Consider what they keep saying about gay people. Pretty hateful stuff. I'm not going to be polite to them if they keep saying the same old anti-gay bull crap to take away my rights.
HenhousetheRed 1 year ago 2
@HenhousetheRed I hear you and agree completely with you about NOM and what they deserve. The most important issue, however, is stopping NOM in the upcoming judicial retention elections. The audience is not NOM but Iowa voters, and the measure is what works best. This would work much better without the condescension and sarcasm. And, I suspect, the ugly tone -- not simply negative but ugly -- will turn off some voters without persuading any voters. What else matters?
kyoungxx 1 year ago
@kyoungxx Yeah, because trying to vote away the constitutional rights of human beings is so not ugly and negative. Right.

@kyoungxx But name calling is persuasive?
bearchewtoy75 1 year ago
@bearchewtoy75 No, name calling isn't persusavie generally, and it wasn't persuasive when I just did it. I'm not sure I was actually trying to persuade anyone. Instead I think I was venting, which was indulgent. I should have been trying to persuade people, and I wish I hadn't name called. Thanks.

You cant tell if it is intentionally misleading .....
Of course judges hide their adgenda. With so much out of state money from Tim Gill and friends flowing in Iowa for years, stop being ignorants and tried to mislead us.
It does not work.

@newjerseyequality
You're hardly in the position to be complaining about misleading anyone, NewJerseyEquality... with your misleading name and all...
bearchewtoy75 1 year ago
@newjerseyequality Like NOM hasn't funneled in money to political candidates and court cases AND elections to fund their own bullshit 'traditionalist' agenda? I'm in a state where NOM tried to futz around with our equality and they got beaten down. They're still trying to hide the names of the cowards and haters who signed petitions to get Referendum 71 on the state ballot.
Hate whoever you want. Just don't expect the government to do your hating for you.
