Thanks for your vids, they are very informative and you definitely know you stuff. Can you please provide some advice on the actual computer you are using. I recently bought Reason and an Akai MPK61 and am suffering serious latency. I have therefore resided to the fact that I will have to buy a new pc but am just wondering if there is anything I should know or is it just a case of buying the latest i7 cpu with 8gb ram etc? @1KeelHauler There is no problem with your pc. Infact you have a damn good pc. What you need is a seperate up to date usb sound card. That will definitely cure your latency problems.

Reason and Pro Tools together produce the best results. Especially with Boom for PT and the Xpand2 synthesizer. Take a look at my Pro Tools Reason setup and video showing how to use the two together.

yes nice vid and i have reason 5 and record 1.5. I tell you what Propellerhead change my life into postive way with music all day. Peace I have a vid on youtube. Type in piranhas eating shrimp. Look for fortgreene31. The beat you hear in that vid is a beat i was working on early this summer when i first bought Reason 4.0. I got much better with it now. Soon i will upload a current beat i work on.

whoever said that the Reason Sounds are cheap sounding should just go out to Guitar Center and play around with an MPC then the Reason Sounds. You will see the difference. Plus you can only load so many samples in an MPC but in reason and KONG you can layer till your heart desires. Im talking bout multi samples on ONE PAD, NIce Tutorial on demoing the sounds. But he only touched like 0.1% thats in the soundbanks. MPCs are gonna be replaced no doubt. And I love MPCs!!!

2. Never use presets. there way sicker then 4.0, but always get yours yourself (not necessarily to you, but to everybody else)

To be honest I dont really understand why somebody needs device like this MPC if you can program all these beats manually through the key roll. Maybe you can give me some explanation about this? Is it really helpful or just like a toy?

@Karnnos Bigger buttons in a format designed for sampling. Key's are ok, but if you need 4 keys along you might slip. This you won't slip! they touch sensative so you don't need push them down like you do a key!

Don't get me wrong, i use a keyboard. I don't have the doe for an MPC... Unfortunately.

@Karnnos Hey K i use the Akai MPD 26 cause i used drum machines throughout all my career. Step Recording as you suggesed is too stiff and mechanical to me. i love the volicity and ambence you get with playing the drums live. Thats why i think so many people use Midi controlers. How are you expressing yourself with heart felt grooves if your just drawing in key roll.

@Karnnos It makes making music a lot more fun and it's inspirational and can give you more idea, and some people are more used to the MPC than sequencers.

@Karnnos Depends on your workflow. It's fun so it can be easy to play around and make beats (as you see me do) rather than have to plan it out in your head in advance, then remember it as you transpose it from your brain to the computer.

Plus, it's way more interesting to watch live.

I do have an MPC1000, but it's packed away in my You and What Army touring case. Hence I figure since more people search for MPC and an MPD is pretty much the same thing when it comes to live pad performance, it makes sense to put MPC in the title :)
