@ThePariahOfFresno You dont need math that much. But of course it depends on what type of architect you wanna be... There is floorplanner, there is economy, there is inventions, there is Material, there is Interior or exterior, there is garden, there is architecture for cities, there is architecture for special bridges and towers... or regular homes... There is all kind of architecture... And every project needs alot of different "Design" thinking... So... there is a lot of things ...
@Littlemeister And sometimes you have ppl do the calculation, sometimes you have to do it your self... It depends. But of course... You should be able to do area calculations and some simple multiplication... The hard things you can let other ppl do :)
hey man i love drawing but im not good i copy animes draws but for me to do something good it takes me a week so im 13 years old i want to be an architect im in mexico and i cant get a class for technical drawing not till i pass next grade so how can i start to get better a drawing and be able too be an architect thank you for your compresion i hope you reply :D
Thank you Doug, I enjoy your videos. Your inspiration on this project quickly brought to mind David Salmela (for those not familiar look him up, you will be glad you did). I'm sure that you are already a fan of his. I look forward to watching how this exercise progresses. Keep up the good work, we are watching.
Doug Patt, You are amazing now i understand what you mean by inspiration, and how it comes before the idea ... thanks that was really usefull to me expecially when i'm still a second year architecture student! Can't wait for Pt.5
I am LOVING this series! xD I'm a senior in High School and planning on majoring in Architecture when I go to college. This and all your other videos are very helpful! xD
Your definition of inspiration is discovering materials and patterns that your clients like and that you can then merge together into the design? I'd call that the clients wish list but I suppose the designer is bringing his interpretation & taste into the mix as well. For me, the client's budget restricts the choices of materials to wood frame & stucco. My most valuable contribution is good planning. The art is whatever can be done w/ the form while it's serving it's function.
Inspiration is great, but your mastery of expressing it is even better. I have been practicing for 30 years now, and you are one of a handful that I have met. Look forward to your creation.

Is this a real project or a fictional example? If it's real will we see the construction site and the final product in the future?
