Nice to see the interview, having been at the gig/riot in question. I remember him defying the curfew and playing on until the sound got unplugged, then coming back on with an acoustic... it ended with him being bundled rougly off stage. A lot of mounted police in evidence.
Saw him the other night. Obviously he can't play guitar any more but it was still a cracking set. And he's still got Cook on drums - they've worked together for years; Cook played the vibes part on the original recording.
i absolutely adore this song and the new album i never heard from him until i read a review of his new album so i started listening and i really like it he is great
@pmcfee1968 total architecture its GRATE! Guitar effects and fingers flailing superbly I agree I have never met a guitarist like that before! And a nice enchante interview with the man God Bless you! Edwyn!
If you want to nail the lead guitar sound from the original use the DenTone 900 Pound Violin. My fav fuzz pedal of all time. I think I read he used a Colorsound Tonebender on the original.
Postcard is a rare record label. If you have the record its probably worth good money. I'm going to check my collection, I bought this one off kind of CD deal (just as rare likely) with Orange Juice and see if it has that song on it.
No! Thats not right, can I get a ruling on that? I think this lady played with them but I don't think its her. I saw her play on late night TV several times including with I think the B52s and Tom Tom Club and others too. I think she's a studio bassist.
You are correct. It's NOT Tina Weymouth, and this girl did play with the B-52s at times. You can see her in the "Roam" or "Love Shack" videos I think.
Thanks for that information. I think I have seen her play with Annie Lennox on Saturday Night Live and also with Tom Tom Club or was that the B52s - I forget
@toiroforcado Gorgeous woman and vastly underrated bass player. Also played with Sinead O'Connor - makes a fabulous rhythm section with John Reynolds.
@toiroforcado I agree. I think the bassist could be Clare Kenny who was in the personnel for the album that this song came from, and played with him before that. Doesn't look or sound like Tina ex talking Heads and different era anyway ?
I heard this song on a movie some years ago but I could not remember the name of the movie or the song and the song was stuck in my head for years and here it is. What a great song ,thanks
