@coirpeach1 oh blah, irish sucks.... and having it mandatory in schools sucks even more. the way it's taught to students most of them can't speak a word of it when they leave school. the good thing about languages like english and arabic are that those languages are spoken in several different countries around the world, by millions and millions of people. irish is/was only spoke in ireland... usefulness to communicate with others around the world, zero.

I disagree.

1. Arabic is not impossible. It is just difficult, because there are so many varieties of Arabic, and not many decent resources out there, and most places insist on teaching ancient Arabic that no one actually speaks. If we only taught foreign learners how to read Shakespeare, most non-English speakers would say English was impossible.

2. Most of the world's Muslims don't speak Arabic. I personally think God can understand your own language, so I wouldn't worry.

Yes, but the reason most people insist on teachings classical (Qur'anic) Arabic is because all Muslim countries actually understand that form of Arabic, despite their native dialect.

Although most Muslims don't understand Arabic, it is extremely important to know the langauge for Muslims because you must know the language to fully understand the Qur'an and Ahadith, and tt is a requirement to do the 5 daily prayers in Arabic.
