  • great explanation thank you

  • top man

  • Very good explanation. Thanks.

  • this tool is for pussys

  • @itshard6

its for people who like to do things the right way. Idiot.

  • how to do something in plain english, excellent

  • you speak kool :)

  • This is fucking brilliant.

  • nicely explained.

  • a better method for oiling is have an old coffee or something or similar half full of engine oil then just dunk the piston in let it soak for 30 seconds bring it out suspended it over over the coffee can to get all the exxcess off then do as shown the reason you dont want the ring gap to all line up is itll have low compression

  • So how do you get the gudeon pin in to attach the conrod? dont you have to do that first?

  • @sowden23122 yes, unless it is a two stroke engine where first you install the piston, push it down to the bottom so the end of the piston where the gudeon pin goes is free, have someone lower the cylinder barrel and push the pin through the piston and rod, and lower the cylinder barrel onto its respective studs.

  • Thank you very much. I am going to be doing this in the next few weeks on my 1995 Land Rover Discovery.

  • nice video shows the use of some type of piston skirt sleeve to position piston back in liner(S)

  • does the same thing apply if i were to do it on a motorcycle engine? Except i have to slide the jug into the piston instead of vise verse?

  • @KFCHambone ill be doingf this on my crf 50 very soon, i would imagine that your cylinder bore is tapered open at the end allowing you to slip the pistion right in, mine does.

    hope this helps

  • Are you from/ in the United Kingdom? If so, what part are you from? I can't tell from your accent.

  • I guess East Yorkshire

  • does anybody have suggestions on how to do the same thing but on a 2 stroke air cooled engine?

I took off the top end of my engine to replace the head gasket and now IM having trouble fitting the piston back over the into the op end of the engine cumbustion compartment.....please help with any suggestions.

  • Just to let you know that by using this and many other videos on youtube as well as some guidance from an overhaul manual i done the following to my car engine

    k-series 1.8 VVC

-Fitted two new liners and resealed the other two

    -Honed the liners

-Fitted brand new piston rings on all 4 cylinders

-Ported the cylinder head for more air flow

    -Fitted a uprated exhaust cam

    thanks!
