Canon has a faster control with more butons than nikon, that's what i like very much about canon. But somehow nikon it fells better in the hand and the wievfinder is LARGER than the canons that is also very important to see beter what are you shooting. Is't hard to choose, but depends on your needs.

Tonight I bought a Canon XSi because my fucking Nikon D40x fried it's circuit board ( after warranty finished of course). I just know my Canon will last and I'll NEVER BUY A FUCKING NIKON AGAIN!!!!!

Both manufacturer's are equal. For every camera Nikon has, there's a Canon to equal it out. They're both the top names in photography, how could they not?

It's all about personal preference, how the camera feels, how you operate it, etc. Oh and a DLSR isn't shit without a good $500+ lense. I'm awaiting a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS as we speek ($1,600 USD lense).

If you don't have the money or patients to spend on a DLSR, don't buy one. It's a very expensive hobby. Both money and time wise.

I would recommend Nikon. They make great cameras and as does Canon. No matter what you buy you will enjoy it. Nikon's ergonomics (control layouts, grip, etc.) is better than Canon. Ive been told that Nikon is also best for Pro photographers and user friendly. Im thinking of getting my first Nikon. Just look at Canons webpage. Nikon looks more professional. Nikon specializes in photography while Canon does other stuff. I would imagine Nikons better since they specialize in cameras...

Forget all specs, which entry level camera produce the most pleasing image quality for the eye, if you were to compare the results side by side, D60 vs a XSi or something comparable like this. I tend to believe the canon is superior with a crispier and a sharper image than the Nikon. Anyone agree or disagree> please reason, I am planning to buy between a xsi or a the new D5000. I don't want to hear biases, plz if you have very good personal experience with the two brands, give me a feedback.

if you are use to the controls and switches of the canon you should go for it or if you know more about nikon menu and controls go for it .

nikon dslrs have better lenses than the canon dslrs but still the canon also got great lenses and simple menus and larger sensors to deliver better picture quality

Thats because the D60 is a professional camera and the XSI is a consumer camera. Canon and Nikon are both amazing camera companies and i have never had a problem with ether one.

The D60 replaced the D40 + D40x as a beginner DSLR for Nikon, and judging by the price I don't think it's a "professional" grade camera, bro. :P
