Wow!! Thank you so much! You saved me money from buying a new one. There was no sound at all at first, so I had to push the breaker in, and got it to hum. After that did exactly what you told me...and it started working! Great video!
The hex thing doesn't work for me. My disposal has a different kind of fitting on the bottom. Not sure what it is, but the fitting definitely is larger than a hex. So much for thinking all disposals were built with the same standards.
Thank you! We have been without a disposal for over 4 months, because I was not going to pay for another disposal. You save me money and time. My husband is so happy that I got it to work.
Unnnnnnnbelievable - REALLY !? That little JAM BUSTER tool was under our sink the whole time - all I needed to do was watch this wonderful man and after having no disposer for 2 months it's now fixed !! My husband was literally on his way out the door to Home Depot when I started watching this video - saved us a hundy as well !! THANKS !!!!
thank you so much!!! i just fixed it in less than 15 min -- it was humming but not rotating, using the wrench worked... great - you just helped me save $100!
My disposal has not work for 3 months and all this time it was the little braker on the disposal it self. I did not know it had one own it till i seen this video My wife is so happy
You're awesome! It took us a little longer to figuring it out but taking our wrench and placing it in a different position to spin the blades allowed it to become dislodged, this may help someone else having issues. Saved us tons this holiday season!!
thank you so much!!! i just fixed it in less than 15 min -- it was humming but not rotating, using the wrench worked... great - you just helped me save $100 -- but more importantly, you helped restore a man's pride :):)... whatever handyman project i take up, I end up messing it up and then spending more money than what it would have required, and my wife had given up on me... this restores some respect for sure :)
thanks! i usually try to do stuff on my own, but it always turns out into a mess, and this is just a perfect video on how to fix a garbage disposal. new subscription!
Thanks!!! I didn't know about the jam buster. Had a right-sized wrench for it, gave it a little wumph and it's working like a charm! You saved me 2 weeks of wait before my apartment manager would have come out
Thank you very much for this video tutorial. My disposal stopped working because my girlfriend dropped a small wire ring inside the disposal by mistake. I followed your directions, found the ring pulled it out, reset the breaker and problem solved:-)
Thank you, this helped my family clean up and get to bed with a clean kitchen and dishwasher that could run through the disposal. I impressed myself that I kept the wrench that came with it years ago.....thank u again.
Hey! Your jam buster approach worked for me. Thanks a lot for this video - I was thinking that I would have to call a plumber... You saved me some money
Thanks! My disposal jammed and caused the red button to trip. After dejamming the disposal with a 1/4 alan wrench, all is working good now. Thank you for providing this video.
A 34 HP or 12 HP garbage disposal would require 25 KW and 9 KW respectively. A disposal typically runs on a 20 AMP/110V circuit which supplies 2.2 KW. To get these HP claims would require 3 phase power typically NOT found in residential homes.
My point, these claims are not achievable. STAY AWAY FROM THESE VENDORS THESE ARE COMMERCIAL DISPOSALS. If you need 34HP or even 12 HP to get rid of your garbage, you have bigger problems!
@ClassicManuals That little slash in 3/4 makes a big difference! My beef with disposals in general is that they work fast but don't grind the waste into fine enough particles. I have about 7 feet of horizontal pipe (which, I suspect, should be graded "down hill" more than it is) between the disposal's trap and the stack. The disposal never clogs, but the pipe gets packed very easily, no matter how much H2O I waste. Is there a way to "slow down" the flow in order to make it chew thoroughly?
Thanks so much, this worked perfectly and feel so proud of myself! Thanks to the great directions and my dad's Christmas gift of an Allen Wrench set I was able to fix my disposal all by myself!
How to get the disposal against the drain tight enough to get the capture ring to catch? Only two hands? Get the scissor jack from your vehicle and using two pieces of plywood or planking, place one under the jack and one atop, under the new unit, and slowly jack it into place, applying enough pressure so that the rubber seal seats evenly against the drain pipe, then the capture ring slips easily onto the slots and turns to tighten. ... Y'all are welcome.
Wow! Thank you sir. I grabbed my phone to call a plumber but came to YouTube first to see if there was a video on how to fix my disposal. And YEP! Here you are. I followed your directions and used my hex wrench to unclogged the problem. Seriously, THANK YOU!!
Wow, thanks for this great and simple tutorial, I fixed my disposal twice, first time, no noise, nothing, just need to hit the reset button, problem solved, second time, have noise but the disposal is not spinning, use the allen wrench, twist it couple of times, disposal works again, thanks so much to save me some bucks ;)
More thanks from another grateful viewer! Your instructions were clear, straightforward, and, of course, right on the money. Will recommend this series highly!
OMG Thank you it worked perfect for me !! After A Year of not having finally it's back. And to think all because of a shot glass .... Thanks Again -Mr.Fix it Myself

I thought i was a complete idiot when it comes to fixing stuff, but you explained it perfectly. Probably just saved me $70 for a service call. Thank you!
Thanks mate! Fixed my problem too. Didn't know about the little reset button on the bottom. Had a no noise, then a hummer, then with the hex wrench a working disposal!!!!!
Thank you very much kids got a razor blade stuck just need to use the wrench under the disposal heard a pop sound and works perfect thank you saved me 150.00 for a new disposal
my disposal wont turn. Got it to run for a at least 30 sec then it jammed up again. And it started leaking from the bottom. Is it time for a new disposal.?
Thanks for the video! I followed the video, heard a hum but couldn't turn at all in either direction so I figured something must have been stuck. My problem turned out that there were two things stuck in the outer circumference. Took me a while but as I felt around the circumference, noticed that one part felt different and used needle nosed pliers to pull it out. Still didn't work so kept going and found a second object the same way. Pulled it out and got it working!
Mine is leaking from the bottom after making a big noise as if something bad was in it, but nothing was. Which way do I turn the wrench to tighten it?
Thank you for your time and effort....to put this vid together. You saved me at the very least the cost of a plumber showing up at the door. Thanks again.

Thanks for the video. My disposal had a hum but no spin. I used the allen wrench trick and now it works. It couldn't have been any easier. I just googled disposal repair and this video popped up. It was fixed in less than 10 min. Thanks again.
So I think I waited too look to look up a video to fix my garbage disposal. Because there's no longer a humming, the blades aren't moving and it only spins when it's plugged in, yet I don't have to flip the wall switch. I'm hoping this makes sense and that you can help me. Thank you!!
my friend threw a 9 volt battery in my disposal... Thought I removed everything...Turns out the disposal breaker was out, and reset the breaker. Simple fix pushed red button back in. Then I used the 1/4 inch allen wrench and unjammed the jam. More metal pieces and plastic came out!
Thank you!!! It worked!

Thank you saved me about $150!!!
