It´s the wedding of Victoria and Daniel today in Sweden. Before it was illegal to marry someone of the non- royal family. The second wife of Pavel Aleksandovitsh
was like that. And his grandson Lennart Bernadotte did the same thing.
The rules are not so tight today. Though the royal house is still very old- fashioned in many countries in many ways.
I just finished reading "Education of a Princess" ~ the Grand Duchess Marie Romanov's memoires. She describes in glorious detail the traditional jewels worn by all Russian Grand Duchesses on their wedding day.
